The 8-Bit Big Band is a 30 member Jazz/pops orchestra that formed to celebrate and realize some of the best themes from video game music written from all consoles and eras! Blending together themes from Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, PC, and more and then re-arranging in genres and styles of all musical inspirations for big band or pops orchestra instrumentation and orchestration.

The 8 bit music is composed in harmonic style because the originals were limited to 5 voices such that it was written in baroque counterpoint. This makes it much easier to enlarge the score to whatever instruments you reqlly want to use. This is why SMB is good for learning to use extensive counterpoint without sounding like sousa and learning to read score.

You should check out the version by Japanese band Oquesta De La Luz from the 90s it's got a lot more energy. I heard their version first and so I am partial to it.

The animations are so funny that it even makes it hard to concrentrate on the music 🤣 Nevertheless, the arrangement is terrific. A real masterpiece. Generally, this Big Band is (alongside with insaneintherain) the best you can hear in the jazz-video game music scene.

Damn good job! This is the best arrangement of Super Mario Bros. I've ever heard (and seen 'cause those animations were awesome too). This has the two things I most love in music: Jazz and Latin Percussion :'D I would LOVE to play this! PD: Is there any way to get sheets for playing this???
