Hey all! There are some mistakes in this video, due to some of the settings I used during recording (There are some tiny rips in the skybox of World 1 and 5). I wanted to fix these, so I remade the video with the right settings and some better shots this time! I also removed the seagulls from the Skybox of World 2 and added the version of World 1 after the Green Stars have appeared. You can check the new version out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZNVyd9Yf8E4.html
I’m just realizing it now, but each new world makes the perspective zoom out further away, you go from a planet, to a solar system, to the middle of a galaxy, to an outer view of a galaxy, a big cluster of galaxies, a supermassive black hole, and finally, one of those reality spheres which contain “everything”
@@ashermack2543 Maby they tried to get out of the galaxy but the galaxys supermassiv black hole was to strong and drove them in agian. That would explain the dramatic music.
@@nikolap490 me too but it gives me anxiety due to how traumatic was falling into a black hole as mario as a kid and then researching and finding out that they actually exist making me even more anxious XD maybe its just me but i also love it
Same here!!! I loved how it was a background, but there’s just something that felt daunting of looking into a void where not even light can escape it… Probably from SMG1 to haunt me again from falling into black holes like it was nothing.
World 1: High Above the Earth World 2: The Solar System World 3: The Oort Cloud World 4: The Milky Way World 5: Galaxy Cluster World 6: Massive Black Hole World 7: Another Universe with a Planet?
To understand the S world, you have to go back to the end of Mario Galaxy 1. At the end of the game, one of Bowers' creations ends up collapsing into a black hole of unprecedented magnitude, swallowing up the entire universe. And once the end of the universe comes, a new Big Bang occurs, creating a new universe where Bowers' attack never happened, and Rosalina explains to us how the cycle of life works and tells us that every life form in the universe inherits the memories of the Star Bits. Since World S is mostly filled with references to SMG1 (but also Rainbow Route and Sunshine levels without FLUDD), it can be assumed that World S is a legacy from previous universes.
The official world names are 1: The Great Space Journey Begins 2: Shooting Through the Stars 3: The Far Reaches of the Universe 4: The Many Mysteries of the Cosmos 5: Trial of the Galaxies 6: Bowser in Your Sights S: Here We Go! from the wiki, apparently they show on the save file select but not in the grand world map for some reason
@@nikolap490 I actually dont see Bowser's own star creating a black hole destroy the universr, for this it needs to contain enough mass to influence the entire Universe with its gravity - which doesnt seem be the case because the universe is HUGE and the influence of gravity decreases the further you are away.
So yes but no. We're talking about a game where literally everyone can breathe in space, or where certain planets have the properties of floating islands (in the sense that if you leave the planet, you fall, attracted by a gravitational force that doesn't seem to exist), not to mention that the black holes found in the levels should attract any nearby planets. We cannot apply the rules of our universe in a fictional universe. And the creation of Bowers, who created the famous black hole at the end of the game, had as a source of energy, one of the great stars 🌟 which has great power, I remind you.@@Chris-gx1ei
World 3 ambiance will always be my favorite one. The nostalgia is strong here ahah. Quite sad that Nintendo didn't added Mario Galaxy 2 in Super Mario 3D All-Star.
2:00 Are you kidding me? This one is the best. Just those first few notes took me to a place I didn’t even remember. This game was such a huge part of my childhood
It's simply incredible to me that in 2007 and 2010, when they were creating the new title for the Super Mario franchise, they decided to create such magnificent soundtracks (FOR A MARIO GAME). The previous games also have good music, but for the Galaxy games they did something completely different and unique for the series. For some reason, I forget how beautiful they are, and from time to time I stumble upon them by chance, leaving me once again in awe.
When I was a kid i used to think Galaxy 2 was unoriginal, or a ripoff of the first game because of all the similar/reused ideas. It made sense to me when I understood the universe got remixed at the end of Galaxy 1 though, and now I just appreciate the cool level designs & incredible music for what they are
I prefer galaxy one because it genuinely makes you feel like you're in space. Nothing stems that further than the literal first galaxy you're on. The music being slow and calm as you traverse the unfamiliar place. Galaxy 2 lacks any of that, instead replacing it with the typical silly fun mario feel that all other mario games have. Galaxy 1 just felt...different
@@donaldtrumpling2016 hard agree on that, galaxy 1's atmosphere (technically lack of an atmosphere?) is the best in any mario game that I can think of. Galaxy 2 definitely has a couple similar moments though (world 5/6 & space storm galaxy come to mind)
@@undergalaxy775 Galaxy 1 makes you feel the indescribably wonder and dread of deep space. Galaxy 2 makes you think of the whimsy of infinite potential that could lie in the sky. Similar feelings, but different to me.
I would come home from primary school, late 2010, the day would’ve probably been rough, so I’d hop on Mario Galaxy 2 for a bit, to be reunited with my friends Lubba, the Hungry Luma, Captain Toad and the rest. All these songs would be playing and it would be incredibly calming, the game would be telling me that all is ok, and you’re always welcome to play with your friends in Mario Galaxy. At the end of the game, when I finished it, I cried. This game meant so much to me, I will forever love it, thank you SMG2 for being part of my childhood ❤️
World 1: just above the earth's atmosphere World 2: The solar system World 3: The Oort cloud World 4: outside the milky way galaxy World 5: Galaxy cluster World 6: A supermassive black hole World S: A distant earth-like planet. Really makes me wonder: How long did it take Mario to go on this journey? A week? A few months? Also, how fast can Starship Mario travel in order to make it to other galaxy clusters in a reasonable amount of time? In the end credits, how long did it take them to make it back to earth?
As a reminder of the big stars 🌟 recovering at the end of each world opens a glass hole which allows you to go to the next world. So Mario shouldn't take much time to travel that far.
I don't think World 3 is the Oort cloud, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the center of the Milky Way as seen from the solar system. Besides, wasn't the Oort Cloud discovered a few years after Mario Galaxy 2 was even made?
I remember playing this game for the first time and being astonished by the way the planets drew these immensely long shadows across the solar system in World 2. World 3 immediately enchanted me with the gorgeous piano movement, and World 5 had my jaw on the floor as it depicted an unfathomably immense astronomical superstructure.
There’s something really funny about a plumber who once worked a business on earth is now a protector of the universe. I mean technically the world was reset in the first game but still lol. Not sure if Mario is on Kirby levels of powerful though 😅.
World 1: atmosphere World 2: solar system World 3: nebula/ Oort Cloud World 4: (actual) galaxy, outer rim World 5: galaxy clusters World 6: black hole (likely a supermassive black hole at the center of galaxies, like the one bowser is making) fun fact, the white stringy thing is a relativistic jet, which is left over particles and radiation released at light speed when a star is falling into the dark hole World 7: the new galaxy made at the end of super Mario galaxy 1?

I know World S is meant to be throwbacks to past Mario games, but I still really wish we could've had a final level where we get to visit that planet in the background. Getting to visit paradise itself would've been the perfect way to send off the game after the gruelling challenge that was The Perfect Run
This is such a lovely video! At first I was expecting them to be still images but I was pleasantly surprised by them being animated. These are really nice shots of each world's atmosphere.
I love how the background tells a story about how far you've gone. World 1s Cloudy blue sky's, this is your home. World 2 is at the edge of the solar system. World 3 is so far away your star blends into the cosmic sea of stars World 4 is so far away you can see your entire home galaxy. World 5 has the, "sky" dotted with galaxies. Which was yours? World 6 shows you nothing of what you once had. The distance so great it can't be seen. Sometimes is scary just how small we really are.
Same, I 100% the first Super Mario Galaxy and would gladly do the same to this one if brought to the switch, tho with the new console coming eventually, hope the new switch will bring this in.
for those who genuinely love these and have wallpaper engine, they exist, and they have almost the same exact backdrop, save for the resolution (source: i was the one who made them back during quarantine or something)
Thank you for this! I always loved the backgrounds and themes of each world as a kid! Space was something I really enjoyed back then! So it's really cool to get nostalgic again after all these years! Thank you again very much!
World 3s music just brings me back to the first time making it there and just resting to hear the music. Gosh I need to play this game again I love it just as much as the first
World 1: Above the Earth World 2: The Solar System World 3: In front of a Green Nebula World 4: The Milky Way Galaxy World 5: Galaxy Cluster World 6: In front of a Massive Black Hole World S: A World made at the end of Galaxy 1.
So- in world S you can see what looks like other a planet or a black hole and with the sizes of GALEXIES it's pretty nuts to imagine how big it all is Now world 1, at the same distance, you can see a MASSIVE curvature......... what the fuck is on that planet???
When I first played this game, I had limited time to play, so I couldn't afford to stay on the world map for too long. That's why I love this video, it made me feel that same feeling when I discovered something new in this game.
