Super Mario Kart Horizons: A BREATHTAKING Mod 

Hey cool that you're trying out SMK Hacks too! :) If anyone wants to know how the drift actually works in SMK, here's a quick guide (It's actually pretty simple): -Press L/R briefly while holding down a direction on the D pad to start the drift -Don't hold L/R down like in newer Mario Karts, instead hold down the direction on the D-Pad while drifting! -To end the drift you have to press L/R again (bounce). You only need to hold down the shoulder buttons for a pretty sharp drift. And if you sharp drift for a long time, you get a little boost. Other SMK hacks worth seeing include Super Baldy Kart, Sour Music Kart and Epic Racers. 👍

So the music in the ranking does change, but not because of the cup, but because of the character. It was like that in the original too, like everyone had their own victory theme. I wish Nintendo still did that, even though it's tough to do for 40+ characters from the same games

Thank you very much for the playthrough! 🙌🏻 Glad you enjoyed it 😄 Also wanted to comment on 2 things 👀: - No new characters because adding more requires a complete rewrite of how the game works with the palettes and other stuff and didn’t replace any characters because I feel it’s what generally other people do and I kinda wanted to keep the DK Jr in it (as it’s usually the character that gets replaced) and I kinda wanted to stretch what’s possible with Vanilla SMK, with Mirror Mode added as an unlockable. - Bingo on Sunrise Ridge! It’s literally named like Celeste level 4 haha, as well as the palettes try to be as close as possible, same with the music as well which attempts to mimic the upbeat of the final level! - There exists a fullscreen hack for the game but’s it’s still experimental 🤔 Thanks again 😄

Since I had the NES and SNES both when I was just growing up and introduced to video games, I would play SMK so much. Something about the music and pixelated 3D environment made me feel so...comfy? I would say the poor anti-aliasing/texture filtering is annoying today but honestly the game would lose a lot of charm if it was a clearer image. This mod is so cool and I love the art styles.
