That's what it's like being a parent in the youtube age. Since you yourself won't yell at your kids for dumb shit, you yell at people they idolize for not being the right kind of people you want your kids to watch. Rather than, you know, prevent your kids from watching or doing dumb shit.
The fact SML has stuck around through EVERYTHING is crazy. He nearly got the Leafy treatment from RU-vid so many different times but he just kept going
its crazy how this entire controversy started because a mother decided to get mad at a RU-vidr instead of taking responsibility and keeping a better eye on her child's internet browsing. Edit: this is the most amount of likes I’ve ever gotten! Thank you all so much!! :D
Don't you just love it when a helicopter mom expects entertainers to cater their media towards THEIR children and censor themselves, but can't be bothered to take an iota of responsibility for monitoring what their child watches? They always want to abdicate their own responsibility and ruin the fun for everyone else.
Not just because he quite literally raised me, Logan has to be my youtube GOAT. Nobody on the planet would have as much determination as he did to keep the channel alive while also dealing with so many personal issues. Despite watching his content since i was probably 4 or 5 and now im 16, i turned out perfectly fine. Fucking icon

It's always refreshing when these videos actually end on a positive note for the creators involved. Becoming a multi-millionaire doing skits with plushies is crazy, good for him.
honestly, this is the first time i've actually seen one of tom's videos that finished with a good ending. kudos to logan and all his hardwork over the years
I remember watching SML in early 2010s with my brother. We only watched a series called "Shrimpo Hunters", which seemed pretty tame to all the other content he made. I had stopped watching, and all of a sudden, my younger sister was watching him. It's still wild to me how Logan is still going, but all props to him. He even inspired me and my brother to do our own videos with some toys we had at the time, which I still remember fondly
Honestly, the channel deletion thing isn't even Logan's fault. He clearly stated multiple times his channel is not geared towards kids, but then his fanbase gets filled with kids, but Logan's success lets him roll with it. If the mom's really have a problem with it, they should restrict or monitor what their kids watch. This really isn't Logan's fault, he's just doing his own thing.
He should however add a WARNING sign so that if some parents are afraid of their children watching bad content, they can just take the tablets away from them and stuff, but that might be one of things some parents hate which is TAKING RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THEIR ACTIONS!
Yep, that's a load of bs. If you're the content creator, how are you supposed to stop random little kids from watching your videos, exactly? Just because it has cartoon/videogame characters doesn't mean it's aimed at little kids. This is on the parents who don't pay attention to what their kid is doing online or make sure their kid is mentally mature enough to use the internet
agreed. though, a warning in the titles or thumbnails like an age tag would have been a good way to try to mediate. i'm aware he put a warning in the descriptions, but kids and parents don't tend to read those
Its why RU-vid has become super hypocritical with their own rules, with one SML getting slandered and destroyed, another is flying by under RU-vids watch without having to suffer 0 repercussions
I met Logan at an NBA game a few years back. He and his girlfriend at the time were some of the kindest people I had met. He asked my little brother who his favorite character was and he took a picture with us. Our parents were okay with us watching his channel because they understood we were mature enough to watch it. Logan deserves all his success, he has worked very hard for it.
I remember my friend introduced me to SML years ago when I was living with him and his family. For a majority of the time, he and I would watch whatever video he got a kick out of. Since then I started to watch these videos more and more by myself to see what was so funny. To listen and get the full details of what they went through over the years, props to Logan and the crew for not backing down.
To be completely fair, the fact that he stated that this content was NOT for children, and parents were upset with HIM just goes to show how lazy parents have become. You teach your children to stay away from that kind of content, or you put locks on their devices at a young age. Parents will do anything to blame their failures on other people. Let me add here it'll never 100% be one persons fault or another, you can't control everything so either side is to blame, though I really think parents could do a much better job than they have been.
He still had some blame on his part. He used Nintendo IP’s which are usually kid oriented, and then would post videos with the title “Mario and Luigi go on a stupid dumb adventure” ANY brain dead iPad kid is clicking on that video thinking that it’s normal fan content just to be met with a SML video. This is also the same stuff that caused elsagate around the same time.
The thing is ever children can handle inappropriate content and if some parents are afraid of their child watching things they're not suppose to, then they should act like a parent and take their devices away or better yet, parents should teach children valuable lessons they should learn that away they won't repeat the same mistakes out of their own lives. They just don't like acting like an ACTUAL FUCKING PARENT!!! Even if Logan adds a warning sign in his videos, it still won't change. I'll use Vivziepop for example. She puts warning signs in every adult content she does and some children are still watching it . There was a 12 year old who was my friend who watches Helluva Boss.@@tenraqs00
You gotta give Logan credit for pushing through ALL these hardships, demonetizations, controversies and even a Cease and Desist to deliver (admittedly not aprropriate but still good) quality content! 👍 Also, you gotta praise Logan for not being afraid to take risks! It’s bold, but admirable considering RU-vid’s guidelines! ⭐️
@@x0nix I don't think that's fair, ask any Nintendo fan and you know how cruel Nintendo is when it comes to their IPs. He pulled the only move he was able to by replacing the Nintendo themed characters.
I discovered SML back around 2013 with the Toad Milk & Cookies music video. I was about 11 and I watched his content all the way through the creation of his new channel. He was one of my favorite content creators and I watched his videos religiously through middle and high school, and stuck with the channel through the demonitization ordeal. Around my senior year I had slowly stopped watching just from having grown out of it, but then ended up hard distancing myself from the brand after the Chilly/Adriana drama spiked, and I didn't want to have the memory of one of my favorite creators tainted by it. I remember being absolutely floored that he was having a kid because I stopped keeping up with everything and was just massively confused. It's really awesome to see that he's still doing well, relationships were mended, and that his channel is doing a lot better. Banger video.
There is an alternate timeline where Logan hired EDP and the cupcake incident wrecked both their careers. Luckily we live in the timeline where EDP only screwed himself over and Logan's name isn't associated with a creep
I’m old and been wondering this since the 90’s. Beavis and Butthead was too edgy for tv back then. One idiot parent let the tv babysit her kids and her child son set their home on fire cuz he saw it on MTV. Beavis and Butthead set fires and would scream Fire! fire! fire! And well, the neglected boy set their home on fire, and killed his neglected sister. And the idiot mom was crying and kept blaming the tv cuz failed at parenting.
@@morrigan909It was actually confirmed that it was completely just bad parenting. The kids turned out to have no connection or cable in the trailer and had no way to even watch it, so it was legitimately the parent deflecting blame.
I remember this kid in our afterschool daycare who would come up to us everyday and re enact SML videos completely from memory, he would even bring his plushie collection and everything. Since we were kids it mostly flew over our heads but it was so fun getting to watch him passionately re enact these skits. Thanks Darren
I really like sml. I just know that it will never be as it was because of parents that blame other people for their own poor parenting. Thank you tom for bringing this to light
I remember years ago I stopped watching his videos during the peak of the drama, mostly because I grew out of it. Finding out that this story didn't have a bleak ending was a nice surprise
A huge factor as to why sml stayed so relevant is just how loyal his fanbase is. I’ve never seen a fanbase that is so willing to follow a creator wherever their career takes them. I’ve been a fan of sml since 2012, and it’s really heartwarming to see that nobody gave up on him
i was watching sml since the dumb adventures series when i was in elementary school. i witnessed his growth online and now his whole channel is just straight up not there? insane. yeah, logan had dips in his youtube career with his characters and the new set of kids who watched him, sure. but his plush vids are always gonna fill me with nostalgia every time i think of them. being born in 02 put me right in the sweet spot to experience the tail end of 2000s internet and i loved it sm. there was no follower count to worry about, not much stardom attached. just people posting whatever they liked for the fun of it. this is a long-winded comment, but i’m just happy that logan’s still being appreciated to this day even if all of his old content is gone.
You just made me realize an old childhood memory of watching The Stupid and Dumb adventures of Mario and Luigi. I never realized it was SML until watching this, and it's crazy to think I somehow looped back into watching that content. I finally got my closure after 5 years
Thanks for making this. Im a freshman in college and I actually grew up with sml. I watched before jeffy and never had problems with him, and i enjoyed their videos until i got bored about five years ago.
Whether you hate SML or not, you have to respect him for his determination and never giving up, even after Nintendo tried to fuck him over. Still miss the old Mario and Bowser series from back in the day or the older school episodes that had basically the white version of EDP445 as the teacher. Edit: is no one scared about how Nintendo fucking over SML sets a precedent? I mean seriously, how the fuck is no one else more pissed off over it considering this is the harshest I’ve seen Nintendo handle a RU-vid in comparison to them DMCAing people.
Nintendo fans are some of the biggest manchildren anywhere. Nintendo the company is brutally protective of their IP, and it's even worse in Japan from what I've heard.
I agree with that part but it is what it is. Even someone like Mark Haynes who isn’t even prominent on RU-vid got stopped by Nintendo and only came back after years. If it wasn’t for GMA and the alleged kid hanging thing, then everything would have been fine. RU-vid got stricter but sml also changed they got edgier. I think I stopped watching after the channel moved twice.
Froggycompany was a name i was NOT expecting to stumble across. I remember being acquaintances with him through mutual friends on Deviantart, doing art trades, having skype calls, going in hard on the Weegee meme fad when it was around in the late 2000s. I didn't know he did plush videos, let alone get wrapped up in drama surrounding it
i have been invested with sml since the jeffy/bowser Jr. era, I've known some of the history behind the channel, but this video truly opened my eyes to what logan and the channel have been through throughout the years. In the end, it just gives me even more appreciation to what logan does and how he's been able to overcome all his downfalls throughout the years. Hopefully, we get more sml for the years to come.
my younger brothers and i loved these videos so much we had our mom go out and buy the exact plushies SML used, it is like a small portion of my childhood that i will always hold dearly as my brothers and I are no longer close. i miss the days when we would play as mario luigi and toad. SML will always be that peice that takes me to a younger version of myself i had lost long ago.
it’s crazy too me how Logan has been through hell and back, and in the end actually got on a good note, talking out things with chilly and even having a baby, while also maintaining a good viewership still sticking around.
I hate how parents are like wow this corporation burned a forest down .....but let's just traumatis this random teenager I have respect for parents they have such a hard task at hand but some things they say are just ...wrong
Never watched SML regularly but his determination to persist through sheer force of will always amazes me. Nearly any other content creator would have thrown in the towel after being through all of this.
Explaining what plushie content was to people has made me feel both old and terrified about the fact that kids nowadays probably didn't grow up as much with action figures and stuffed animals, and instead with RU-vid and iPads. I was born in 2002, I'm not even that old.
im a 2008 born and tbh, i kinda grew up with both, i played with toys when i was younger up until I was 7, where i pretty much balanced between toys and tablets up until i was 8 where i got my first laptop (for school), then I basically shifted to youtube and technology
I was born in 1999 💀 and i loved this content during the time, and cherished all the toys I had. No phones, tablets or laptops, just 1 family computer in the living room. It was an absolute dinosaur. A different time. people being born in 2008 is so fkn weird to me.
@@glofendal i figured it out, is sweaters by Ivan B But it’s sung by Jeffy I think it’s probably ai made, or smthn bc I don’t think it’s ever happened in the show
@@glofendalI just checked it's not any of Jeff's songs it's weird because if I use like a song recognition app it says there's no song detected. Even now it detects other songs and if I try searching up the lyrics Spotify doesn't give me anything that is remotely close
That's straight up like giving your kid cable TV and then getting mad at Comedy Central when they watch South Park. When I was in elementary school we use to watch and imitate south park while being the same age as the kids portrayed in the show
It's refreshing to see a content creator go through controversy and actually learning from mistakes and get a pretty positive ending to the current day. Goes to show that sometimes we do not have the full story.
Imagine being so negligent you somehow let a kid so young that they dont understand DYING and SUFFOCATION have completely unsupervised access to an adult show, somehow find and/or create a noose, and somehow were still not around when he proceeded to try and Doki Doki Literature Club himself, and then blaming a guy who makes videos for your kid almost dying. Thats like trying to cancel water when your small child drowns after you filled the bath to the brim and walked away.
@@Commrade-DOGE …and then the parents werent around to stop them from trying to imitate it. To put it in even simpler terms - kids did dumb and dangerous stuff (as they do) and parents thought it was someone else’s fault that they werent being kept safe and monitored what is wrong with people bruh, how do people have so little self awareness that they think they’re entitled to making the internet raise their kids, and then they try to blame other people for THEIR dangerous and negligent behavior. Its literally the most obnoxious shit, SO many parents cannot comprehend the idea that they’re raising their kids wrong and/or that they are the ones responsible for them, not random people who make videos on the internet.
god this video took me back to when i was growing up and the mario and luigi stupid dumb adventures series being some of my favorite things to watch, still watch logan to this day from time to time, still just as good
I’ve been a big fan of Logan since 2015. Today I’m a filmmaker, because of him. I don’t make plush videos, and I have been inspired by more people like George Lucas and Steven Spielberg, when it came to film. But Logan is the roots to my journey. When I started watching his videos, I was always thinking “How does he make these awesome videos?” When I would watch the BTS over the years, I was so fascinated when I saw him directing, setting up equipment, everything. I started becoming a filmmaker when I was 15, and I wanted to be just like Logan. I already said this on one of his recent videos, but I’ll say it here too anyway. Logan, thank you for being you. Without you, I don’t know where I would be. And I know I speak on behalf of the others who are inspired by you too.
Been watching since middle school and still a fan today. I am glad that through all the shit Logan went through he still came out on top and remains successful today. Hope to see SML last a long time!
It's honestly really sad to hear his story. Parents would hand their kids tablets so they didn't have to parent them, and once they started watching videos without supervision, they went to the news. Also if you went to his channel's about section, it explicitly said "not for children". Due to this he turned his channel which is still not really for children and made the channel page look like a kid's show just so he doesn't have to go through with the BS again.
Yeah I wish parents would just use streaming, cable or physical media to babysit their kids instead of RU-vid than SML's downfall would have been avoided.
@KudaXD WHAT KID ON A TABLET WOULD FEEL INTERESTED IN READING A RU-vidRS ABOUT SECTION? *ALL* Logan had to do was just put a simple WARNING screen at the beginning of the video that said, “Warning: The following video is intended only for adults only, also, you shouldn’t imitate anything in this video because it is only done here for entertainment purposes, after this point I am not to be held accountable, responsible, or at fault for any children watching the video beyond this point. Enjoy.”
@@KudaXD I watched Jacksepticeye when I was younger, and even though he was a more “adult” gamer compared to someone more appropriate for kids like Dantdm (who I also watched), he wasn’t that raunchy, compared to pewdiepie who was involved in two controversies in 2017 BOTH involving slurs. I NEVER EVER watched a video from him at the time. I never even knew about sml until a friend of mine at the time showed me a few of his videos, and I mean, geez, when he visited my house once he even asked my mom if he could watched the walking dead on Netflix, which she obviously said no to which I was completely in favor for. I guess my point is, some kids are smart to avoid raunchy stuff, and some kids, don’t care.
A little embarrassing to say but he has been one of my favourite RU-vidrs since his first full video with luigi, peach,Shrek, ect it’s been 6-8 years and I still watch every new video every week and in a way I’m proud of how far he’s made it and stuck to RU-vid despite everything that’s happened
Same I’ve been watching him since I was around the age of 5 From what I can remember and I still watch his videos but it’s not the same as the old videos 😕
Thank You Sml. You made my childhood. Made me happy everytime i got bullied at school. Jeffy tought me to stand up to bullies (even though i never do 😅) I used to love watching sml on rainy days, especially the 2016-2019 vids. Whenever i got beat by mom i would watch sml to cheer me up. I have to thank my older sister shes the one who introduced me to sml. Once again. Thank you Logan.
As soon as he told people to be more observant of the content their children are consuming (be parents) I figured that'd be the proverbial nail in the coffin. "HOW DARE YOU TELL ME HOW TO RAISE MY CHIIIILLLDDDD AAAAAHHHAREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"
This might be one of the best rise and fall videos on SML I’ve ever seen. Nobody else has done the story of SuperMarioLogan justice quite like this. Granted it’s not the full story, I would have discussed a few more details such as how Logan began ignoring criticism and the countless number of stuff Logan has lied about.
I came to this video explicitly to see if you would mention his store in the Cordova Mall; I am happy you did, because BOY did it catch me off-guard when I first saw it
I used to watch them all the time several years ago. I heard that they were going through drama but that was after I stopped watching so I didn't know all the details. The amount of shit they went through is crazy, and you have to respect them for not giving up. Glad to see theyre doing well now, good for them.
damn i somehow never heard of him but it's nice to hear how he endured all those hardships, i probably can't count beyond the fingers on one hand how many youtubers come back from all that
After watching all your vids and especially the Danny phantom guy I was wondering when he was going to snap. Am so relieved and happy that this guy went through so much and in the end got out stronger
SML is one the many examples of how RU-vid and Corporations such as Nintendo stunt the creativity of content creators in favor of a more family friendly product. Despite all the setbacks, his content is still generally funny and entertaining which is crazy giving the pitfalls he had to go through to stay on RU-vid. I genuinely wish the best for Logan in the future.
I haven’t watched the video yet, so maybe there’s something I don’t know. But it’s not shocking to me that Logan ran into issues with Nintendo considering he built his entire career off of their intellectual property.
Funny they choose to go after Logan yet decide to ignore animation channels which are more or less fetish channels in disguise and continue to rank in millions with little to no effort. Even though plenty of people have brought the attention to this site's higher-ups.
@@e1iteyoshi998nah they definitely do get at those people too. They just keep remaking accounts and doing it anonymously which’s makes it a little harder for Nintendo to take down.
Man, the first 15~ minutes of this video is just good feelings of nostalgia of ancient youtube content I was watching as a kid, no drama or anything just stupid things that were fun to watch made by passionate people
Even tho SML has been a rollercoaster for Logan it will always be a legendary channel, many laughs and good times watching his content 💯💪 I wish him the best man 🙏
So you’re telling me a child knew how to make a noose knew how to hang it from somewhere and managed to somehow hang himself and it’s Logan’s fault not the mom who’s kid apparently almost killed themselves behind her back
I hate parents who blame everyone else for there lack of parenting. Know what your child is doing especially on the internet! It's not hard, if you don't like it don't let them watch but to blame someone else is pathetic
I grew up on this guy's content all the way back in 2009/10. While a lot of it didn't age well it was fun to watch his stuff before his decent into madness. Makes me miss the old times and how they felt classic to me.
Genuinely, when Logan got that cease and desist letter I thought Logan would quit. All the drama, lawsuits and swatting I thought would’ve been too much for him. But no, he kept going and now his life seems to be at an all-time high with his new channel thriving, his one year old daughter and his relationship with Chilly back and stronger than ever. I really applaud him for that, and that’s why he will always be one of my favourite creators.
