Super Mario RPG Remake by Iceblue - RPG Limit Break 2024 

It's different for sure, but the changes make it so I can share this with my Nephews so they can understand and appreciate the original from my childhood. Also enough of the changes are neutral or good that the negative ones don't bother me so much.

​@@aninymouse1651such a thing might exist in theory (or maybe VERY early pc games), but this sure as sugar ain't it. From the UI design to the character models, it bleaches away as much personality and creativity as possible. Given that it's still Super Mario RPG, it's nearly impossible to kill ALL of the originality - not for lack of trying - though they certainly made it as lifeless as possible. After all, they want to appeal to as many people as possible, why would they take a risk like the original in this day and age? Remakes are bought no matter what, so why do more than the bare minimum? I mean, it works for Capcom, Sony, _especially_ Square Enix, Konami... pretty much everyone. Though the core of SMBRPG remains, everything else is so genericized that one has little reason to play "Kinda Like Super Mario RPG But Worse: Maximum Rim Lighting Edition" instead of the original, unless they're incapable of enjoying a game if it isn't shiny enough, if they get off on professional, competent, appropriate use of rim lighting being taken behind the barn of Nintendo and put down like a sick dog, or it's for a toddler too young to remember + to tell the difference and you're also just wealthy enough to toss $60 away.
