He not only get the Shine sprites like nothing, he knows where are all the blue coins, and when is the best time to get them in order to save time. I'm beyond Impressed in what I just saw. The nostalgia was hitting hard too.
+Sharpteeth Nile Blame the nostalgiatards who constantly bash any 3D Mario game that isn't 64 which not only has aged badly but the ds version is actually superior to the original.
Satoru Iwata: "Any more ideas before we wrap it up?" Shigeru Miyamoto: "Yes, one. How awesome would it be if all 250 blue coins triggered dialogue boxes!" Satoru Iwata: "Brilliant!"
anyone else get weirdly pissed off at the guy for being so god damn flawless at the game and getting passed parts you were stuck on for hours in mere seconds?
+Eddie Becerra you could do this if you practiced. and now you know how it looks to play 'optimally'. learning some of the advanced tech might be difficult, but all it takes is practice.
***** advanced techniques and practice can't account for the fact that the last time i played this was when i was 7, also i no longer have any way to play it
It really is a good game. It's 3D Mario to it's core. And the unintentional genius of building a 3d platformer based around a fail safe. The game always assumes you'll have Flood, so it has no problem creating platforming challenges that are easy with a jet pack, but challenging even to the most experienced player when you take away the jet pack. Seriously, this game has a ridiculous number of exploits and various ways to achieve a goal, simply because of how versatile Mario's move list is. "Hoverless Runs" are insanely fun enough of the game because of the crutch being taken away. The game expects you to hover everywhere, but Mario can move in enough ways to get you basically anywhere with enough skill. The game is great for newbs and vets alike.
Omg you're so freak'n FAST HOLY CRAP!!!! YOU JUST SPEED-PARKOUR THROUGH EVERY STAGE LIKE ITS A 3-HOUR SLIP N SLIDE!!! GREAT JOB DUDE THANKS FOR THIS GAMEPLAY. ITS EPIC.
this thought occured to me while watching this... why do random islanders have shine sprites to give to mario? shouldnt they be good citizens and take them back to the shine gate? why are they trusting the dude who allegedly ruined their island with these invaluable items? i know its just a video game but these are some important questions.
@@MrMegaawesome1234 because the Islanders are stupid. one is almost completely blue while the other has a red cap, white gloves, brown shoes, and the list of differences goes on and on. That is if they REALLY can't tell the difference, like anyone else can
TheGaming100 Lol I agree, I know its supposed to be one of those videogame tropes of “you know who they are but the characters don’t”. But, its still too obvious
To be honest, this is my mom's ALL TIME FAVORITE mario game. My dad's favorite mario game would probably have to be super mario world! But, boy, OH BOY, the memories of this game! AND EVERY SINGLE BLUE COIN IN 3 HOURS? You've got to be kidding me! My best 100% record of this game: About 1 week. lol. One of the hardest shines by far is that one acid water level with the red coins. And I actually never knew about the Yoshi underground glitch!
This is insanely amazing. I never personally managed to beat this game entirely myself but it took my brother like at least a year or two or three (not entirely sure to be honest but a LOT LONGER THAN 3 HOURS) to beat this game. I mean...the speed at which you play and completed this game is just insanely crazy. Good job man. Liked, favorited, and subscribed.
Ice G Funkloaf To my understanding, players of this game will spray Piantas before talking to them to put them in a fixed position so that it is easier to press B and speak to them.
If I were a Pianta, I would be an orange female one with the red floral dress, and I would live either on Gelato Beach or Bianco Hills. What about you guys? :)
This video made me nostalgic and a great trip back to Memory Lane. I'm just overwhelmed at how much shortcuts there were and I didn't even know it. All these years of going the long way to the goal... At least I knew some techniques and shortcuts. :D
Oh my god ive been playing this game since i was literally capable to play video games. It was my first game ever, the first one i beat by myself, the closest I've gotten to 100%ing a game, and I've gotten to the point where i can clear the main stars in 6-10 hours depending on when the last time I've played is and i had no idea about all the glitches you could use to get blue coins and stuff easier. I aspire to be able to do this. This game was my entire childhood. Ive probably put hundreds of thousands of hours overall just replaying it again and again and again. Just when you think you knew everything about a game, huh?
my friend and I just watched this entire thing after beating the game ourselves... in one year and three hours. given, it was only played when we could play it together, but still, this puts us to shame and is just astounding. great job man
Does anyone know at what point in the video he gets the shine that you have to jump yoshi across boats to get? I looked through the video 3 times now and I have yet to notice it.
Damn dude. I watched your 3:15 hour one a few weeks ago, and you already got an even better run. Can I ask how you do that turn in midair to get on top of the Shine Gate? I'd like to learn speed run tactics for this, and that is the only thing I can't find anything about from my searches.

skysands2008 Yes, although it has since been broken twice, once by a Japanese player named ヤマた (Yamata_0921) and another time by AverageTrey, which is the current world record. I'm sure he has a video of it on his RU-vid.
also at 6:28 the fact that the cop had to tell mario where the mess was should have been a sign that mario isnt the real criminal and that they were falsely arresting him
Nostalgia here I love this game this was my first game for the GameCube this is the best gc game one of the best and just love the gameplay and the graphics love Mario sunshine.
Super Drunk Sunshine Rules: Every time he collects a blue coin take a shot of water Every time he collects a shine sprite take a shot (my suggestion you mix with something)
He made this game look like a joke and Honestly I was so amazed how he can actually pass all those levels (the one where that bowser jr takes away your machine) and make it seem like........aughhh that's fucking insane. I guess when you know the game by heart it's pretty simple if you ask me
very cool speed run, cant imagine how much time you have spent to get such a good run :) Im most impressed With all the mini games (those without the water thing on Your back). I always thought they were very diffcult but you make it seem so easy :) good job
