I think that the problem with the design is the ambition to use as few as possible of memory. Nowadays you wouldn't mind having 1MB just for bandages. That allows you to avoid this type of glitches. The alt glitch could be a bad handle or unsuspected property of the system.

1-10 in particular is honestly quite difficult.

it opens the window menu (File, Edit, View, etc.), presumably. A lot of games can be frozen with alt - although this is a lot less common than it used to be as it's pretty trivial to guard against - but generally they actually freeze until the alt menu is closed instead of trying to keep the game logic going so it doesn't affect anything.

In theory sure maybe someone with the fastest computer could save a couple seconds because they can run their game at an absurd framerate that others cant. But you're largely limited by movement speed of meat boy which isn't speed dependent. Only the level and loading screens would save time. No idea what the actual max framerate of the game or how thats hardware limited though so goos question. Fortunately this category isnt one thats particularly competitive in a world record standpoint so its not something thats too big an issue either wau
