Super Meteor 650 1st Ownership Service | Initial Cost ?  

I visited India 30 years ago. It is incredible how far India has come since then. Super meteor is a great bike.

If the Royal Enfield 650 had been designed to have hydraulic valve adjustment like the Moto Guzzi and the Harley-Davidson you would never have to mess with the valves and if it had a belt final drive you would not have to mess with the belt. For maintenance all you would have to do is change the oil and filter. They made adjusting the valves on the 650 a pain in the ass but not impossible. Edward Turner designed the Eternal Triumph twin he had little cap in the valve covers that you unscrewed to be able to adjust the valves nice and easy without having to remove the gas tank . My Triumph 500 Daytona 1973 Max 44 horsepower. Being a 500 it is so much smoother than a 650 at the same engine speed my 750cc BMW Arrowhead twin of the 1970s tops out at 117. At the discount prices and field interceptors from last year are better bargain than the ones from this year

Fuel-injected motorcycles run lean making them hot as hell. Can a Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor motor pass a leak down test at 10,000 miles? The heat they generate can to rob the lubricating oil of all its lubricating properties. Once you cook your oil to death you might has well fill the crankcase from of water for all the good it will do to you. Today's motorcycles are a collection of government regulations on two wheels no more no less. In the old days motorcycles were simple, functional as well as beautiful to look at . But like good and evil depends on your point of view so does whether you think something is beautiful or not.

Are you guys going to allow the Stormbreaker from svm imported into your country? I think it would give the Royal Enfield Interceptor a real run for its money because right now is basically does not have any competition. The Gear Drive in the Sportster Stormbreaker is inherently superior to the chain drive in the Royal Enfield line of motorcycles. Sure it is a cheap way of driving the valve train but when it breaks it will destroy the engine whereas Gear Drive valve actuation never suffer catastrophic engine failure. The Stormbreaker / Sportster is also an old-school design which is designed to be rebuildable forever. My 20-plus year Sportster has 400,000 miles on her. All of my Honda motorcycles died from cam chain failure even though I adjusted it at the specified intervals in the shop manuals. When the cam chain broke in my 1978 CX500 Honda it tore right through the water pump and broke the camshaft into. With 250,000 miles on the clock the rest of the bike was as worn out as the motor was. The Kawasaki w800 with the bevel Drive is inherently superior to the Royal Enfield interceptor just for this aspect alone. It is a rotten feeling coasting to the side of the road knowing your cam chain broke and destroyed your engine. Forewarned is forearmed

I wonder how many of the Royal Enfield motorcycle riders in India would continue to ride your motorcycle if a cheap car was available to them instead. What do you think they would use? Do they enjoy the bike for The Simple Pleasures of riding a motorcycle even to work or is it just looked upon as another Appliance to be used and discarded and replaced without any thoughts like a frigerator or a stove or a washing machine?
