Yep. To be precise: Ridley and Draygon have Anguirus' roar, Kraid, Crocomire and Phantoon have Titanosaurus', and Mother Brain's roars and the death cry of the Baby Metroid are Mothra.

I always felt bad for him. His death was absolutely brutal, watching him try to climb back out is genuinely difficult to watch. And he's not even a bad guy, he's just vibin'. Then you come along and murderify him for no reason!

I love how they managed to make Mother Brain such an evil character without giving her a single line of dialogue. She just paralyzes you, and then proceeds to slowly wither away your health with her weaker attacks, just to then attempt to go complete overkill on you with her death beam. Sadistic bitch.

well if im not mistaken, Pteradactyls (which is what Ridley is) can manage to have their necks to be zig zagged, allowing them to keep themselves from being spotted. their necks are actually very long which is why they sometimes do that to hide from enemy predators

Oh, I don't know about that. Samus only triggered a mechanism that the Space Pirates put there in the first place. We could go on about who's really to shoulder the blame. At least Samus canonically saves a handful of the animals, as seen in Fusion, not sure what she could have done for the others in the first place. But I have always had kind of a soft spot for ol' Crocomire. Out of all the things that either blocked my path or wanted to murder my face horribly, Crocomire's one of the few that I didn't want to murder in kind.

The first person to ever play this game was my mom. I remember when she got to the Mother Brain fight, I never understood what she meant when she said, "this is exactly like the first fight. I remember this." She defeated Mother Brain and she was so excited and everything. I loved when she said "Oh shit!" When she rose out of the ground. I played this game because of her. Freaking love it!

Can we just talk about how well done the final boss is? We're obviously underwhelmed and surprised mother brain was killed so easily, at first, then confused as to why we couldn't leave. Then, just before it dawns on us that this isn't over, the fight begins for real. It's tough, and we're so confused as to what we're doing wrong; how can we kill her before she uses her lazar? and then we realize we weren't supposed to win; we're saved by the baby metroid, now incredibly large. Super Metroid, in my opinion, (despite me having not played many of the games on the SNES) is one of, if not the best game to come out for the SNES, so impressive.

Major kudos to you for killing Draygon the “proper” way. Personally, in order to save time and get the best ending, I just bite the bullet, take out the cannons, and use the Grappling Beam-amperage combo (remember kids, it’s the amps that’ll definitely kill you, not the volts).

To be fair, doing it the way with letting Draygon grab you then electrocuting him does damage to Samus, so that wasn't really an option anyways

I prefer to microwave Draygon by abusing Plasma Beam in combination with x-ray. Normally, you have to use the space time beam, before can execute this trick.

..I still remember this game bein roughly criticised for being far from state of the art, even when it came out in 1994. But the athmosphere this game created with such simple visuals and sounds is a true legend in gaming history to me.

i guess reviewers were wrong with the fact you can't beat him. sure you can't kill him but you can survive long enough/deal enough damage to trigger his retreat.

Because they used sounds from Godzilla (Some enemies however, like Spore Spawn, don't use them but are voiced by the developers) Mother Brain, for example, uses Mothra's sounds

well no because you have to use that hyper boost thing after the speed boost to get some of the items which would deplete health. sure it can be done but the title have to read something like this. super metroid 100% complete no damage except when i have to speed/hyper boost to get some of the items

So does Draygon. Kraid, Crocomire and Phantoon all use a clip of Titanosaurus' roar when they get hit, and Mother Brain's roars and the death cry of the Baby Metroid are pitched-down versions of Mothra's roar.

Probably the darkest game Nintendo has ever done. You notice some of the art styles on some of the tiles? Some of them look like demon heads. The music speaks for itself too. Lot of chromatic scales and tritones. 80% is dark. I just finished going through this game tonight for the first time in over 20 years. The design of the Mother Brain has always stuck with me. It was obnoxiously fun. Going to give it another go.

When You Charge your Beam to Max it also puts a Field around Samus Suite ... So when She Jump FLips it activates this Shield which is impervious to almost all attacks as you can see it works here perfectly ... you have to hold the full charge and do a Forward Flip ... Jumping straight up won't work ....

Had this game for years as a kid no booklet no Internet to look it up but kept it. In 2003 my ex said oh wow super metroid. He played it and the whole family watched as he defeated phantoon onwards. My heart was thudding at the end in the escape routine. I still play this now even 20 yeses later and my adrenaline runs
