OKAY, YOU GOT ME! I AM GOING TO TRY A LITTLE EXPERIMENT WITH A CERTAIN VINYL. I GOT MY TEFLON FOOT IN THE MAIL AND I DO HAVE SOME HEAVY DUTY NEEDLES TOO. I HOPE THIS WORKS! LOL! *sudden mad scientist laughter and thunder sounds in the background is heard*
When sewing on vinyl, we want to avoid putting an excessive number of holes so it is better not to backstitch as she is doing because this weakens the fabric. Instead of backstitching, leave long thread tails and tie off the ends using a surgeon’s knot. Thanks for posting!
Thank you Lauren, for coming up with a cute, quick and easy pouch! Sometimes these quick projects help me get through losing my sewjo and getting my creativity and motivation back so I feel like doing bigger projects! I hope you have an amazing week❤😊
You had me at Silver Disco....girls just gotta have bling. Lovely video. I'm curious about your zipper jig. I made several but almost always end up just wiggling and toughiing on those sliders. I'm a huge fan if not obsessed fan for zipper by the yard. I find the #3's easier to get started than the #5's but I tend to keep 5 on hand for most of my other obsession which is PULLS....and charms for pulls...yeah. Who know when I started using zipper by the yard 40 plus years ago they would come out with all these fancy colors and pull combinations. I often wonder when they clean out my house when I''m gone what those folks are going to think I was doing...dragons, flowers, unicorns, butterfliies, silver, gold, rose gold, brass and on and on and is that a frog? Oh have to have that pair of earrings they would make the most adorable zipper pull.....thanks for your video. I made a similar bag on the fly this winter for neighbors and put a pair of CPR and choking equipment in it. All bright red vinyl and loop handle so it could be hung up too. Anyway a mutual friend lost their husband due to choking and I quietly gifted my neighbors a pair of these one for her husband to carry one for their car. I said not inside the house. WHY? Because you can get to your car most times even from the house and back in less than a minute or minute and half where if you are at the grocery or other location if it's at home it'll do no one any good. I know I'm such a stickler for details. Anyway she loved the bag so much she asked me to make a different color for her bestie. I said sure come on over and I'll show you how easy. I rarely measure and make anything twice identical so no pattern sewing is my cup of. Was having trouble finding the clear patterned vinyls today. Thank you for the names of shops that perhaps I can locate some.
I think I have watched 20 of your videos in the past few days i really enjoy your teaching and your honest personality, thank you, I’m trying to learn to do bags but they turn out so horrible lol! I’m going to keep trying though I want to get a machine like yours I used one at ts trim where I sewed Honda car seats for 12 years
@@LaurenMormino I can do small pouches and other little things but bags scare me lol you look so professional at it and I know you work a lot of hours doing it and said your aunt got you sewing but you just grab & go it’s really satisfying watching you see because I’d love to sew like you but I’d be happy just to do one, I have trouble cutting things out right lol I need to buy one of your patterns but my printer is down so I’m just waiting but I’d like to purchase your peekaboo bag and the Devon or is it for sale? I appreciate you just messaging me back, thank you I know you are so busy, I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am and just so interested in the things you say the little lessons or tips, thank you Lauren
Lovely tutorial! Just as a note you would not be able to use it for any airport in Europe. It has to totally clear (no design) and max 20cm (7.9”).. I live in England and regularly fly around Europe for my work and often see people getting held up on the scanner line if their bag doesn’t meet the requirements. Stupid I know but the personnel like to have their little wins!
Love it. This is just what im looking for to make a pencil case. Can you tell me the names of your thread clippers and also you zipper attachment tool please❤
@@LaurenMormino Yes, I've tried teflon foot, walking foot, tissue paper, scotch tape, and I still get MASSIVE looping underneath with the printed TPU vinyl I got from Wonderground. I have no problem with the clear By Annie's 16 gauge vinyl. HOWEVER, I just watched a Crafty Reporter video on IG, and Amber recommends increasing the top tension to fix this issue, so I'm going to give that a try. My machine is a Janome HD3000 for anyone wondering.
I was going to say my Walmart Special machine loves vinyl so had to be thread. I have found out with mine the thicker the thread the higher I need to set my tension. I thought it didn't like shiny thread, it was me. Lol Tension issue.
Love this so much, and wanted to make a bunch for favors, so bought blue glitter star TPU from Zipper Valley and love it....However, I'm getting crease shadow marks from folding down in place to box corners!? I thought maybe using blow dryer or warm iron pad might fix, but no...Is this normal? I don't know how to avoid, as you need to manipulate vinyl and hold down in place to box corners. Thanks for video, and would welcome any advice.
Sewing with all vinyl is new to me and I was wondering why the zipper looks so wavy on the finished pouch? Is there something specific that causes that? Or is it just the way it will always be? Should I be aware of any technique to help minimize that waviness? I can't wait to make one of these! I need to order some of your glitter vinyl. I hear it sews nicely and is really beautiful.
Yeah, I got some vinyl I tried every foot two different machines and the foot keeps sticking and nor sewing right 😢 I’m really excited about getting the vinyl and wanting to play with it but it just won’t sell. Do you have any suggestions? I’m not going to give up.
I really want to make this bag! But I want to have a crossbody strap. Please tell me how to do that. This is the simplest method I’ve found while still being pretty. Thank you!
Bonjour Lauren, Quel est l'instrument que vous utiliser pour replacer le curseur sur le zipper ? Comment et où peut-on se le procurer ? J'habite au Québec, Canada.
