Thatvwas pretty cool. Always mice to see a line come back into service rather than being torn up.

@@Lighting_Desk exactly right! The line sees plenty of regular use nowadays!

is the 950 a converted 150??
@PublicTransport4U
@PublicTransport4U 2 года назад
I don't think so, it was always like that just based off a 150. Originally it's TOPS class was a class 180 until the Adelante came along that took that class number hence now it is known as the 950.

@@wearsidetransport1825 I'm not too sure about the train going all the way into the Docks. I assume it is only allowed to go as far as the Network Rail and Port of Sunderland Boundary which is at a gate. The is a plaque on a sleeper at the base of the gate with a line that says Boundary on both sides that goes landscape of the sign with Port of Sunderland on one side and Network rail on the other to mark the boundary of the two owned tracks. Maybe the test train is not allowed passed the sign unless requested by the port...

Hi, this is the old Sunderland Docks branch at Hendon beach, Sunderland. Unfortunately, if you go there, you will not see one train at all as the test train seen in the video has so far been the one and only train (basically) on the branch line since 1999; except a few scrap trains and a railtour. The branch has recently had Permanent Way Work on the line for trains to use in the future but not for a while yet. I'll include a link below for the running train timetable of the dock branch on Real Time Trains but it will not show trains on any day whatsoever. Hope this helps! www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/HNDNSDG/2020-11-02/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

Please note that you can still always go there and take plenty of pictures of the old line and crossing! Still a good photo opportunity!

Strange to see this done manually as I would’ve thought it was done automatically, is this because it’s older track?
@PublicTransport4U
@PublicTransport4U 3 года назад
Yes, it would be a financialy silly waste of money to install an expensive point motor to a set of points that are very rarely to never used at all. Thanks for subscribing!

It hasn't been used at all since the 950 ran on it except from a few small RRV vehicles and a Possession-only tamper that were on the line for PW work. The idea for the line to be reopened and since been scrapped.

I go past the Sunderland Docks junction frequently when on the Middlesbrough Newcastle train and never seen anything use it.Same with the Port Clarence/Seal Sands and Hartlepool Docks.The only Durham Coast branches I've ever seen anything going on/off are; the Stillington, Hartlepool Steel Works,the Nuclear Power Station, the Seaham Docks , Tyne Docks and obviously the South Hylton.

Trains do now use the line including Scrap Metal trains and Steel Coil trains! There's also been Railtour passenger trains down the branch too!

I never see it if I ever wanna go through a walk round Hendon Beach! 😝😝😝😂😂😂 And how are you supposed to know it’s coming if it ever does? Listen to it? There are no barriers! 😱😱😱
@PublicTransport4U
@PublicTransport4U 3 года назад
It's a rare occurrence to see this unit in the branch but as the video mentions, the train comes to a stop and sounds the horn to warn vehicular traffic! All, if not, most trains in the country do this at these types of crossings! :)

@@PublicTransport4U I always wanna go for a walk round Hendon Beach if I ever wanna let off some steam! :) I STILL haven’t walked the whole length of the coast’s er…. Cliff side?? Yeah! So what if Roker and Seaburn are better? I respect those opinions they ARE right! ;) Just I think people are a bit shallow with Hendon cuz it doesn’t have any hostility. Ya know? Somewhere to eat and stuff! So what?! 😝 Yeah! Call me biased cuz I’m from Hendon! XD A beach in Hawaii’s so much better but our beaches are arguably much safer! ;) No need to worry about an active volcano! 😜😂

@@mrwizzardknight absolutely, there are some great walks along Hendon and the beach including the Durham Heritage Coastal Path! Sorry for the late reply!
