I'm back with an exciting new episode from the high seas of Maine! This time around, we're mixing up our usual lobster hauling with a dash of fun and games, including a physical fitness challenge right on the deck of our boat. Watch as the entire crew, myself included, pushes our limits in a test of strength and stamina. It’s a day of laughs, sweat, and good-natured competition that you won't want to miss.
But the fun doesn't stop with fitness challenges. Our haul today is particularly thrilling as we reel in a super rare and stunning Dalmatian lobster! This unique catch is a showstopper with its unusual spotted pattern, making it one of the most exciting finds of our season.
We also check back on a humorous experiment we tried a few days ago-baiting traps with Scott's socks! You'll get to see what the sea thinks of our unconventional bait and whether Scott's footgear managed to lure in more than just laughs.
Join us for an episode filled with the unexpected, from extreme crew challenges to rare marine discoveries and quirky bait experiments. It's a blend of hard work, rare catches, and hilarious moments that define life on a lobster boat.
Make sure to hit that like button, share this video with friends who love fishing or need a good laugh, and don't forget to subscribe for more unique adventures from the waters of Maine. Your support helps us keep these fun and fascinating stories coming!

Jacob, just keep doing what you're doing. You don't have to do silly human tricks to 'entertain' us. I've seen other lobster fisherman try to do what you are doing and they fall short. You have a zest for life that radiates off you, and infects those around you. You bring all sorts of critters to the surface, that some of us Land Locked folks have never seen. You bring lobsters up, that we would never guess would be that color. Your daily life of fishing is fascinating, because you may do repetitive actions, those actions produce unique results every single time.

I love all the videos, it’s so interesting to see what you do, how you do it and learn more about the critters you catch. If it’s a mollusk, crustacean or cephalopods are absolutely some of my favorite foods. Still like hearing about the weird fish and how changes in the fishing industry affects smaller businessmen. Loved seeing you on Sonny's channel, I’ve watched his channel for quite a while and was weirdly excited to see you on it as well as down in Florida(where I currently live with family since my hubby was shot and killed in 2023 delivering groceries for Amazon. If I ever win the lotto(rarely play) or come into enough money to move, I’m headed to Maine, it was our dream, we have some friends up there, hate the heat and love the tasty ocean critters, though he also loved fish and we both loved fishing(I will catch, clean and cook fish, just think it tastes like an aquarium bottom.). Looking forward to future videos, stay safe out there y'all also if you waved enough money in my face I'd bite the head off a nasty old herring despite hating fish, just because…I’m weird like that, lol.

Since you asked, here’s some of the stuff that I find interesting - all creatures that get caught in the traps, big, small, repeat, whatever - boat maintenance, any hardware stuff - any historical tidbits - finishing politics / laws and regs Other ideas - Timelapse of an entire day - cook up some crabs while on the boat - testing out new equipment or new brands of stuff on the boat - surprise the guys with cigars for a day Lastly, keeping up the episodic storytelling of whatever from episode to episode gives me a reason to always stay up to date. Thanks and keep up the great work!!

The lifecycle of the lobster is interesting - all customers ever see is the adult in the shop! Babies, teenagers, close-ups of eggs, etc. Also interesting is the bycatch - the wide assortment of strange things in the sea. In particular ones that aren't commercially fished (ie we don't ever see them). And finally, the process of how things are fished. If you could ever show how your bait is fished that would be interesting. Also, why you trap in the pattern and method you do (certain number traps per buoy, spacing between traps and lines, timing of season and how long you leave traps for, etc)

I was honestly surprised to see it in salt water. I bet they're a lot more tastey than the mud bugs in the fresh water kind. Happy sailing and safe travels to all 3 of you!

I'm French but my younger brother used to work in New Hampshire where I visited him a few times. He had a friend who produced cider and this guy was friends with a lobster fisherman in Maine. We used to have lobster galore, the American way with butter and corn but I introduced them to the French way which is either halved and grilled with butter and garlic, or choped in chunky bits with the shell and cooked in a bisque sauce. They loved it! Best part was when he boiled them, he then chucked them out the window as there was three feet of snow outside, just to cool them down. I found it hilarious!!

A favourite challenge when we we scallop dredging for 8 days with very little sleep was 'one spoon challenge' where you had to eat what ever fit on one spoon from the galley. Pepper, salt, mustard, coffee, tea were a bit rough but the worst, the absolute pits was gravy granules. They were a hard mouthful to swallow even for pretty big bucks.

hejhej jacob and crew First of all, great content! For most people, the world of lobster fishing isn't well known, so it's fantastic to learn about the daily routines and challenges of people in this industry. Could you provide more insights into the daily work and processes of a lobster fisher in Maine? Specifically, I'd love to learn about: - The daily routines and tasks involved in lobster fishing. - How the industry ensures sustainable fishing practices. - The processing of lobsters after they are caught, from boat to market. Your videos offer a fascinating glimpse into this unique environment, and more detailed information would be greatly appreciated by those of us eager to learn more. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
@keronrussell9271
@keronrussell9271 3 месяца назад
Oh, On the first point: That's actually an interesting idea. He does talk about the daily stuff...occasionally...but I guess not that much. I didn't think of that one On the second point: he actually really likes to explain how the industry maintains sustainable practices in almost every other video, or short so you'll get the gist of it in a bit. In fact, I think he mentioned a couple in this one (you'll see them measure a lobster occasionally. If it's too short, then it's too young to keep and is cast back...if it's too long, then it was pretty strong to get to that size and it'll be good for the population...so they toss it back). They also use "notches" on female lobsters. If he finds one with eggs, he'll punch out a little notch at the end of the tail to tell other fishermen that she can produce eggs or has produced eggs and that they should let her go if caught. If they find one with a notch and no eggs, they might redo the notch if it's wearing out...or they just let her go) The last point: he talks about this one from time to time...I myself can only remember one or two videos where he showed them passing the lobsters on to a gentleman on the dock
