Probably. It's been in NJ every year. You should check SmashBoards for other tournaments near you. I think SKTAR is in NJ and it's an MLG qualifier. All the top players are going, even Armada.
Brackets are double elimination--everyone starts in the winners bracket. If you lose there, you get sent to the loser's bracket, where you have one more chance before you're eliminated for your next loss. The rounds of these brackets correspond to each other. At the end of each, there's a finals match. The loser of winners finals vs. the last remaining player in losers bracket is losers finals. The winner of winners finals and the winner of losers finals play in grand finals. The person coming from losers has to win two best 3 out of 5 sets in grand finals in order to take the tournament, whereas the person coming from winners only has to win one, because the bracket is still double elimination.
He originally sucked at Smash which is why he gave himself a stupid name. This bites him in the ass now that he is one of the best players in the world.
Nope, there never were any real sticks for GC to begin with. That and sticks lack the double joysticks (some tricks need the C-stick to be done). So the controller is the most loved still!
Fun fact, you actually can't use a fight stick for Smash at all (unless it were specially built). Fight sticks (most of them, maybe there are some special cases) only offer digital input for direction. This would mean you can only dash for movement, not walk, and only do smash attacks unless you buffered a direction during a previous animation instead of being free to do a tilt attack at any time. You also would not be able to tilt your shield to prevent from getting shield poked, and moves like Fox's and Falco's UpB's would be limited to only 8 directions instead of 16 for the same reason. Hope you enjoyed the info!
Man if only the video had higher framerate. There are so many times that all I can do is read between the frames to figure out what's actually happening because these moves are just so fast.
lol the Melee community is so much better than the Brawl community. It seems like everyone is 10 years older maturity-level wise. Also, the commentators are pretty legit.
Well it's strange, certainly different in execution but similar in theory. I can execute the ledge cancel on Shiek pretty easily, but I can barely get the Fox/Falco one.
