Rool: Either a prehistoric crocodile (e.g. Deinosuchus or Sarcosuchus/super croc) or a spinosaur (e.g. Spinosaurus, Baryonyx, Suchomimus, or Irritator) Koopalings and Bowser: Prehistoric turtles or ankylosaurs (Bowser himself also has dinosaur-like characteristics, and Bowser is a giant as a reference to Giant Baby Bowser in Yoshi's Island) (Rathalos could also be a reference to the fact that dinosaur fossils in ancient times were once mistaken for dragon bones)
