That is absolutely true. It does not matter who he adds. Him and his crew put so much time and effort into each character to make them feel special.

I am very late to this but I agree. Sakurai and the development team are literally putting out the best they can with what they have at their disposal. It kinda sickens me that some bitter fans get so vitriolic to ridiculous extents. Even if certain fighters are very desirable at times to the masses. Ahem… Joker, Banjo, and Steve to name names. I should even mention characters that weren’t too desirable to fans that ended up in the game such as Incineroar, Byleth, Min Min, and Pyra/Mythra made the anger and hatred absolutely unbearable to sit through. Even though I’d love to see my most wanted character join the roster, who is Crash Bandicoot, if he does not make the cut, I am just going to cut my losses. That’s kinda why I try to not let fan speculation and consensus dictate how I feel about these characters. (Despite it being very natural that I’m going to like certain characters more than others.) I’m like “Can I just play Smash in peace without all this fan nonsense?” So yeah, I’m kinda on the same boat as Sakurai but not to the extent that he ended up getting into. I’m not sure if this seems like a fair point but hopefully you guys get what I mean.

Just hope that the fanbase do not put things too much out of context to ruin his reputation. It is because of his wholesome reputation that allows him to be a bit free from Nintendo child like restrictions. Many love Sakurai because of his gamer status and very open about himself. I still remember in his first present of Hero. He admittely in the very beginning. That they did not have a budget for this and he himself would like to showcase the fighter. My first thought "Is he even allowed to openly be blunt about this?".
