The Stop watch is not originally from Smash brothers. It's actually from the original Zelda game as a item that could be dropped randomly by enemies. Getting one would stop all the enemies on screen.

I’m so glad there’s so much Kid Icarus representation in Smash nowadays. I knew there were a lot of items from the series in here, but I didn’t think they were part of the majority.

Further note on the Rambling Mushroom, the enemy can inflict a status effect that causes your direction imputs in the overworld to be swapped as well!

A few of the "original" items are inspired by different franchises, though not directly connected. The barrel is, of course, reference to Donkey Kong The Home-Run Bat is a reference to bats being a primary weapon Ninten and Ness could use in Mother and Earthbound The Motion-Sensor Bomb was originally from Perfect Dark, but they altered it after their falling out with Rare. The Timer is similar to an item in Mario Bros 2.

Bunny Hood was from OoT. But It's powers were introduced in Majora's Mask.

The black hole item is from Kid Icarus: Uprising. It’s not in multiplayer but it’s a power up in its story mode that you can equip to Pit

This is a good video, I’d say it’s correct but the smart mine was inspired by 007 I think. If the soccer ball was inspired by Mario, I feel like the baseball could too. Also I think a timer has been used in Legend of Zelda to slow down or stop enemies. These items could go both ways and this video is still correct and useful. What I’m trying to say is good video!

Actually... • The Motion Sensor bomb was originally designed after the mine in Goldeneye 007 for the N64, but in Melee, the trophy origin read it as "TOP SECRET." So it's tenable to say that the Motion Sensor Bomb is actually the first 3rd party refrence in a smash game. • The Black Hole item once again comes from KIU.

Barrels and crates are from DKC and DKC2 respectively. And I thought the sprout was was a Golden Sun item, but I could be mistaken.

A few omissions: The Barrel comes from Donkey Kong Country, the Party Ball from Kirby, Mario 2 USA's Stopwatch, the Mine was originally GoldenEye 64's Proximity Mine, I believe the Smoke Ball comes from Animal Crossing, and the Baseball from Mario Sluggers.

Some suggestions, perhaps if you do another version someday: show gallaga using it's tractor; it is the whole point of the item. Since blue shell became flying in later games, and other items change over time. It would be helpful to show appearances of major changes like that.

Actually the bullet bill item is from Mario Kart. When you use it you turn Into a bullet bill and knock everyone over in the process, just like Mario Kart.

It's kinda hilarious looking at these items in retrospect. They representation used to be a bit more equal, with a bit of emphasis on Mario, but now it's literally just Mario, Kid Icarus, Zelda, maybe Mother if you're lucky.It's not a bad thing necessarily, I just like how over time those just kinda built up xD

I always thought that the Home Run Bat was supposed the one from Earthbound, what with the SMAAASH attacks in that game, and ness's own bat making the same sound as the item. But I guess probably both are just because of baseball and how popular it is in Japan.

Its a good video, I know it takes work but I think some of these could be showed better. And I only comment this crazy thing because hopefully it can make the videos better Like Ramblin'' Mushroom reverses controls in Earthbound too and puts a mushroom on your head. But wasn't shown. And maybe show that the Dragoon is in 3 pieces in Air Ride too. Or show that the Fairy in a bottle works automatically when your hearts reach zero (or in smash, 100%) Bullet Bill might have originated from Super Mario Bros. but the item seems like its based on Mario Kart, where you turn into one This may be nitpicking (well it all kinda is) but bombchu can also go on walls in both games Also, the Pikmin item, Hocotate bomb is a reference to how he crashes his ship often - not only that it goes up The boss Galaga steals your ship, that's the whole gimmick Even though the motion sensor bomb is technically a Smash Bros orignial item, it would have been cool to see a comparison with Golden 007 because that's what it was based on in Melee in appearance too Great idea for a video, sorry for the long comment. Originally the barrel, home-run bat, and the motion sensor bomb had different designs in the past. These past designs are from the Donkey Kong series, Earthbound, and Golden Eye 007 (Perfect Dark in the JP version of melee) respectively.

Isn’t the barrel also from Donkey Kong? And the sticky bomb ball... it reminds me a lot of the ball that Samus turns into when you get the sticky upgrade and can stick and bomb. The drill actually appeared in smash before it was in Kid Icarus: Uprising. I forgot which game, but it had to be before Uprising came out (so Melee or Brawl)
