No, he literally said "Having assets similar or from the past game *_doesn't_* mean it's a port". Either way, the word "port" does not have much meaning in 2018. Companies don't make game engines from the scratch or anything, and almost every asset is designed with its future re-usability in mind. People think it is a port because the gameplay doesn't seem changed for the most part but that is not helpful when deciding whether it is a port or not. For me, seeing a different lighting and hearing different music already means it is a new game. I think the confusion is caused by people who said "it will be a port but with more stuff added", well if there is more stuff added it isn't technically a port anymore is it?
Hayda Rinna There is a difference between port, enhanced port, and new game. Ports are straight rips plus a minor addon. Enhanced ports have the same base game, but add a substantial amount of content, such as mario kart 8 deluxe and pokken tournament dx. New games change the main mechanics on top of making new content. This is an inerative sequal, meaning it looks similar to the previous title, but there is enough changes to the core gameplay (let alone new content like characters) that it is a new game.
To add to what you said, IMO Smash Ultimate does everything that a typical fighting game sequel would be expected to have such as new gameplay mechanics, new characters and fan requested features plus we have no idea about any other modes that might get added.
Here’s the video and make sure to go to his channel he have a another video about it talking about ocarina of time and majoras mask ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XNIxTEzKYio.html
But its not and here is a youtuber who explains the difference between a Port, New Game, and a Remaster. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-13vvl63UoxQ.html
Santiago, why would you think that just because a f**king consumer, the one who buys the freaking product's opinion matters, because factually, it is not, Sakurai would never port in his life, due to all the injuries that he has acquired while developing his games! His life was on the line during development for Smash Melee, and that game came out 13 months after the first game! Is that enough evidence, or do you want some more?!
I unlocked Incineroar the other day and before that, when I’d look up people on the net on Ultimate, that was the first time I ever heard of Incineroar.
The whole “Ridley is too big” argument made absolutely no sense. It became a non-existent factor since the very first Smash Bros. on N64... Kirby is only 8 inches tall, Bowser is three times the size of Mario, and Olimar’s the size of a coin.
JSeedProductions Sakurai himself said he didn't want to change Ridley's size to fit in Smash because it's part of the characters personality. Everyone then took that argument against Ridley. Seems like Sakurai now realized fans wouldn't care that much so he did it (he also probably got a ton of Ballot votes anyway)
My problem with Ridley wasn't that he's too big. My problem with Ridley is that he's canonically too powerful. Bowser captures a princess and uses strange contraptions. Ganondorf uses powerful dark magic and a sword, and although he is very powerful has been defeated before by Link. Ridley murders thousands of people, destroys ships, killed Samus's parents, and Samus has not succeeded in killing him. And now in Smash, Ridley's Down-B literally does 50% damage upon successful impact, and will most likely have to be nerfed before the game even comes out. Ridley is so canonically power he's already broken in the game.
It probably will be nerfed, but it has a very small sweet spot; if it doesn't connect at the right distance, it only does 9% or so. And, from the gameplay video, a lot of his attacks leave him pretty vulnerable, and his recovery isn't that great. And he likely has the biggest hitbox in the game- get past his (rather limited) defenses, and you can wreck him. They'll likely need to do some tweaks, but I don't think he's a gamebreaker.
Yeah no, Olimar and the Pikmin are like, supposed to be inches tall, and yet now they are suddenly just a bit shorter than some other fighters who are normal human height. That's way more sever than anything going on with Ridley. Plus some characters, like Bowser, switch their heights in their own games constantly, which Ridley has already done as well. Their heights REALLY don't matter for Smash lol.
Clearly these guys have got no clue of what constitutes a port and what doesn't. A port would be the exact same game 'ported' from one brand to the next. Or in this case one generation of console/handheld to the next, with no updates. Given that this game is a combination of all the Super Smash Bros games that have been in existence, and given the title, this game is NOT a port. It's like the idiots that 'claim' that CTR-NF (Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled) was a port. Given that Beenox and Activision are putting in free DLC into the game all the time, that is DEFINITELY NOT a port, because it's not the exact same game.
I would enjoy that. A new story mode would be great. This is supposedly the Ultimate Smash game. Thats better than what was expected. If they have the guts to call it Ultimate then they're going to try to make this the best game they can and at least add back the popular things from past games. Im all for a new story. Though and Adventure mode would be good enough for me.
"Story mode!!!!!!" So did those guys not see any of the smash 4 reveal trailers? Those were all animated and no story mode. (Except for dlc minus Corrin)
Well maybe. But we havent seen him and Knuckles was confirmed to represent the sonic series as an assist. So either Shadow isnt here at all anymore, hes in Green Hill, or he's an Echo Fighter
