Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Zelda Pre-Release Analysis (Buffs, Nerfs, Frame-Data, Aesthetics)

I'm so happy Zelda is getting redone. she's one of my favorite charters that I almost never pick, and now she feels like viable choice for competitive matches

I believe that gray hair Zelda represents Impa from Ocarina of time, And the Green orbs from Farore's wind represent the warp animations from all temple songs in Oot, specially Minuet of the Forest

Another big point about Phantom that you missed and even I forgot to mention in my analysis is that even when Phantom is destroyed, it will no longer go on a 7 second timer which means there will be no period of time where the usage of the move can be taken away from her. Farore's Wind has less distance on it as well, but it's a worthy trade given what she received. Looking carefully, I think this may be true only of the aerial upB though. I was curious what her FAF was on her Jab1, it seemed really quick when I used it. Speaking of FAF's, that's my only real issue with these kind of analysis' besides the things you left out. You're using footage from other sources to determine FAF by seeing how quickly after a move someone brings up a shield or rolls for instance, but there's no way of knowing that the players inputed shield/roll as soon as possible as the analysis would need them to. Obviously there is little reason to doubt that these players didn't shield/roll on the FAF in the footage you used, but it's something I always try to be mindful of. I see stuff like Bair having 16 frames of lag and Fair having 15 for instance, which wouldn't make sense to me if they were trying to bring Fair's properties in line with Bair's by making the hitbox come out the same frames. That just seems weird to me. All in all, good video.

An interesting buff to Zelda's neutral b, is that it will have momentum from when you were moving in the air for moving horizontally, from what I've heard.

I'm sooooooo happy they finally fixed Din's Fire. :) I always thought it shouldn't make you freefall.

The buffs to her specials (Down-B in particular) might make me give her a shot in Ultimate. They feel like real abilities now instead of just being more ways of recovering and dealing damage.

Honestly your channel is so underrated, this is one of the best channels to go for smash ultimate news on characters at the moment, and I hope for your channel to take off even further.

Zelda's design includes minutia from both her ALttP and ALBW designs, making her more of an amalgamation of the two. Also I'd really appreciate it if you could cover Ike soon.

They do have similar colour schemes tho so it's hard to tell 2:17 That's definitely SS not BotW, it has light blue elements that her BotW white dress doesn't have and BotW is already represented fully by the new Link design (also, Sakurai specifically says he can't imagine BotW Zelda fighting as she's more of a researcher, so I can see him not wanting to give Zelda a BotW skin his attention to detail is crazy)

I’ve been a Zelda main since Meele, but I’ve always thought the red, green, and blue skins were based on the three pieces of the Triforce. Red for power, green for courage, and blue for wisdom! Great video

One reason I never liked Zelda in Smash Bros Melee/Brawl/Wii U was because she looked so bored, uninspired and just slow to play as due to the atmosphere of how "womp womp" she looked Smash Bros Ultimate Zelda on the other hand seems so enthusiastic, ready to go and is a very bubbly/bouncy type of character because of her enthusiasm and eagerness for battle. I never considered Zelda to be a good character in the past, but because of Smash Bros Ultimate, I absolutely love the overhaul Zelda got (and deserved actually) to the point where I might consider being a Zelda main for the very first time (not Sheik, but indeed Zelda) EDIT: I forgot to mention that her newly found potential has undoubtedly caught my interest. Yep, definitely maining

Zelda's new appearance is a mash of both ALTTP and ALBW; the clothing/necklace and age is that of ALTTP, but if you look closely, the shoulderpads, circlet, and the hair(specifically the bangs over the circlet like BTW as opposed to LTTP's circlet above the hair) are that of ALBW.

2:40 her white and gold dress looks lovely

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but in some recent smash con footage with Nairo we see Zelda's up air connect way to the side of the explosion. Additionally her down air seems to spike from way above where it you would normally expect. Were these changed in any way from smash 4 or am i just tripping? I honestly don't know as I'm not the most knowledgeable on Zelda's old hitboxes. Also I'm disappointed you didn't go with the Neo Tribeam reference instead of Super Saiyan 3. That was a freebie man.

I like these videos because not only do they let me know what the characters will be like in Ultimate but it also helps me understand how they operate in general. I hope he keeps uploading these after Ultimate comes out.
