I would love to see an imax version of this, especially a water level shot. Some of the waves didn't look real at first viewing, they were so enormous.

I was there in 01/2014, never seen waves like that. It was after a storm. The news said the waves were at least 50 ft. There was a helicopter circling and quite a few men on jet skies to help the surfers. I thought 10 ft waves on Lake Erie were huge, but this was amazing. Glad I was on Maui then, once in a life time event for me.

I’m almost positive that I’m in this video! I’m pretty sure that’s my car driving by Kahului Beach Road as those jet skis are being put in the water. After 35 years of windsurfing, that’s about as close as us mortals will ever get to riding those waves. This footage was incredible. I gasped as that windsurfer gut sucked under. I can’t imagine how terrifying that must be.

I want to hear a full interview with the guy who went over the falls backwards on that bomb.....and the windsurfer who stepped off at the bottom of the same bomb. When I first saw it in January.....It gave me nightmares. I thought the tow surfer was going to end up a sail-wrapped death burrito falling onto that windsurf sail....

Frozen shoulder means not being able to surf for 2 years. The most meaningful part of this vid for me was hearing Ian say that going back to a short board was like riding a bike. You guys are all surfers watching this. You know what it means. Imagine someone telling you "Right! No surfing for 2 years!" Yeah. Not a good feeling.

I skate vert...an i notice those big waves mavs an such slow or buckle an stall on the face making u have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to stay on ur board when the steep drop of speed stalls as u the water buckle an down shift tje speed of the face just when ur ecpecting speed to increase it stalls...that as best as i can see from these far away shots...thanks for the cool shots of nature what are those guys doing out there on those little boards...tiny little folks too....

Great footage,as an old surfer... ( With plenty of experience getting the S**T kicked out of me in the washing machine) have never heard the whole surfing thing explained better... About 6:48 in, the camera angle for the wave ridden by Ridge Lenny gives one of the best views of just how huge the waves are. For a moment, It literally did not look real.
