Seriously. I'd like this video twice if I could. A RU-vid video that gets right to the point is as rare as a recipe that doesn't have 4,000 words of commentary, photos of children or random beach scenery before getting to the DAMN RECIPE YOU CAME THERE FOR!

How doing "this" can be anyones passion? It's pretty much 21-st century slavery on these boats and all cruise boats. You work as a slave and you are treated as a slave. That is the reality and anyone who worked on a boat will comfirm my words. They drain you out and throw you away.

Well, we are almost at 500 and tomorrow I ain't at my computer. So a deal is a deal. 3080 Euros PER MONTH. Could I have been paid more? Sure, maybe on a different boat but I have my girlfriend with me and didn't ask any questions as it was more important to have a job together. Living expenses are covered, and I have been WAY to busy to spend any money. If you are new here, do me a huge favor and subscribe will ya. Thanks guys!

For the two of you together? Also, the tax situation could be really interesting. As an expat myself I know that in most tax jurisdictions you only have to pay taxes for the number of days that you're actually in the country. The country being the country where you are paid, because usually that's the country where you need to pay your taxes. If you get a tax break: good for you! I don't think you're overpaid at all.
@ianhamilton396
@ianhamilton396 5 лет назад
If the entry level is €2500/month please remember it's tax free, accommodation room and board (food) is provided. If the yacht is chartered, the charterer provides a crew gratuity to the Captain who, in turn disperses/shares with the crew at his discretion, again tax free and in cash. Depending on the owner, some contracts include one free flight home per year, end of contract bonus and shore excursions paid. When the owner is on board or on a charter, it is hard work and long hours and the crew earn every euro.

Now when you got to wake up at all times of the day and night to do meaningless Petty tasks boat in or whatever it can't get very tedious and monotonous it's probably worth every penny that he makes but on the plus side when he gets off the boat he's got a big check waiting for him in the bank because he hasn't been able to spend any of his money on the boat and that's a good thing for him and all the crew members

Nice video Jared. From someone that started as a decky (back in 82') and worked my way to captain I love you can share this type of stuff to let others know some of the things you get up to. One of the greatest job's in the world working on Superyachts and in reality so much more than the money. The opportunities you get from meeting some of the world's top business minds to people that many would pay hundreds to meet and have conversations with is priceless. Enjoy every moment onboard, every watch, every crossing, yes even the washing down a boat that is clean before you start! Stay safe, work hard, read everything your owner or guests read, and learn every day. Keep up the great content.

Hey Simon! I truly love when someone take the time to write such a lengthy comment! Its funny you mention learning from our bosses because I remember a time where i said this job is worth having JUST to learn from the 1%ters. At the moment, I am no longer employed by a vessel and have decided to go fulltime youtube. Do my best to get to every major boat show I can and show a different side to yachting that what most see on RU-vid. Lots coming and I cant wait to show everyone what I am capable of capturing as this channel grows. Thanks again and hope you enjoy the rest of the content!

Jared Watney thanks for the reply. On a side note and seeing you have a better grasp of making videos than I might you consider doing a bit of a joint project? I working on doing some videos on safety in the super yacht industry with reference to flag state reports and some of the fatalities that have happened. Also I had for 5 years when at the Monaco show taken picture of tenders entering and exiting the port with barely 5% of crew wearing a kill cord and of course no sight of life jackets. Also did Interviews and found that while some had standing orders, many just didn’t follow them. Any thoughts?

jared watney Uber driving awaits you. Not always about the money. Getting in some great experience. Do not know if you have any skiing experience. In the U. S. during ski season they hire a lot of peeople. Maybe you could be a lift operator. Then on your free days bomb the slopes. One of those once in a life time experiences where you could improve your skiing skills or initiate them. A friend of mine many years ago did that for one season. He said he did tons of skiing and loved it. Don't know about the pay.

I was working in a cruise ship as a purser in Singapore for 2 years . But the best was my work in 3 private yachts from 1992 to 2000 and i love my job. I was ssooo lucky to work with all 3 awesome owners and a very caring captain , chefs and crew. We don't have tips but the owners gave us bonuses every after trip . Our crew cabin is huge (can fit 4 ppl) but we are only 2 . Everything is free from shampoo and soaps which you will not get in the cruise ships . In fact , we can request what we want and need. Most of the time we work only 8 hrs a day , if the owner is not around , we have weekend off. It's the best job I ever had and the best memories I will treasure . Im soo blessed and forever grateful for the opportunity

Love these videos. I’ve been boating my entire life and have several boats (go fast, runabout, and cabin cruiser) but to see what goes on with large Yachts is all new to me. Can you do a video on shore power hook up? The largest boat I have has dual 50 amp feeds. I’m guessing a yacht this size has three phase 480v? I’m not even sure so it would be cool to see.

I guess it depends on where the ship is registered.
@aaronneedham8219
@aaronneedham8219 5 лет назад
it depends on your own countries individual tax laws. for example i am from Ireland and if i'm working outside of Ireland for more than 6 months a year i don't pay tax to the Irish government.
@nomansland120
@nomansland120 5 лет назад
They don't get taxed in any countries since they are never staying more than 6 months in a single country (and therefore not being taxliable in any country)

I think for US citizens it is "something like" the first 100K is tax free if your work requires you to be outside the US and you are not on US soil for more than 2 weeks in a calendar/tax year. Feel free to reply if you know the exact numbers. I only bring this up because a US international flight attendant moved to a foreign country but continued working for a US airline and ended up owing huge back taxes and penalties. The US tax service said because she worked for a US based airline her work did not REQUIRE her to be offshore and charged her back taxes !!! I guess if she worked for Emirates she would have been in the clear. So I am guessing, for US crew the yacht would have to be foreign registered.
