The Orkneys is a Mecca for goose shooters. Huge numbers of greylags come through the islands every year, and goes guide Steve Rogers of Orkney Shooting Holidays leads parties of shooters to reduce numbers and help local farmers. In this film, he is looking after a party of shooters from the Capreolus Club.

@@fieldsportstv how come it's the ammo?? How do you conclude that's the issue with the jamming?? I use and SX3 or SX4 nearly every day of the week with all sorts of ammo and if mine jams it's nothing to do with the shells....not unless they are rusty.

Only that on two occasions they pulled the trigger, there was a click and the cartridge did not go off. I don't know if those were the ones you saw on the film. Everyone was happy with the guns. I can't remember the brand of ammo - I didn't recognise it. / Charlie

they are not doing fine. Warmer weather, longer summers and extended agriculture seasons means the greylag geese are breeding out of control. They are causing major problems for native resident bird species and for agriculture. They will ruin the local environment and eat themselves out of house and home unless they are managed.

It is disappointing to see all of the negative reviews for the video, seeing as they all seem to be relating to the fact that the shooting party might not be country folk or rich. If you work in a job where free time is limited why wouldn't you take the opportunity to get to Orkney on a private jet rather than driving from London. I know which way I would travel if I had the choice. Shooting should be available to everyone as long as they treat the quarry with respect. I enjoyed the video.

@@RobertGriffinshootingTV Yeah, I hate it when a bunch of rich boys who love their sport fly into my shitty world and dump a bunch a cash into the local economy that otherwise wouldn't be there. Always nice to eat, keep the lights on and send the kids to school. I checked out your site, and man you sure don't know nothing about self promotion given your business. I would expect you'd be desperate for the likes of them to come on in and have a good time, and spread some $$ love at the same time. But based on your bullshit I can tell you where they'll definitely NOT be spending their money and most likely others besides. Also, these boys remind me of rich friends from Texas who spend A LOT hunting in Africa and Argentina and they most surely don't give two rat shits what the "non-shooting public" thinks. You Lose.

Don't forget you need to be a crap rifle shot and not forgetting you don't need to worry about the well being of your quarry, if you fit these requirements, not forgetting the large bank account, you'll fit right in .

06:30 painful to hear all those cartridges going off and minimal birds falling out of the sky. You shouldn't be rocking up to shoot wild birds with no confidence behind the gun. I would recommend they spend their money on lessons. 09:00 Why don't you let the decoy pattern do its job and pull them in, shooting at them while they are 50yards away isn't going to help your poor shooting.

Wildfowling used to be the mainly carried out by ordinary working-class people. If the well healed start to descend on the Orkneys in their private jets with everything done for them bar pulling the trigger. Then prices will soon be out of reach of Mr average wildflower. So, why blame the customers? Blame the guides and property owners who advertise their shoots. I'm sure important rich people wouldn't have time for people who don't want them around, they'll go somewhere else.
