Superb or Sacrilege? T-Pain covers Black Sabbath - War Pigs! 

T-Pain himself, a guitarist, pianist, and drummer all got together and put together all of the instruments on this entire project. He didn't use/sample anything from the original songs, they recreated everything themselves while putting his own flare on it.

The intro is in the original! The arrangement is pretty much the same too. Drums are definetely different sound wise, but in the first part, pretty much until the second chorus they are pretty similar to the original, with some more complex fills in the break down (oh lord yeah part). Most likely sampled drums, at the least they're extremely compressed and highly processed. The guitar is being put through a fuzz and it sounds like there's like a jimi-hendrix style univibe on it (the swirling sound), which is different from the original (the uni-vibe). As far as some of the guitar parts go there are bits of the original licks (for ex, the little 16th note trills in the first verse in the instrument parts). The guitar solos (there are 4 here including the outro) are mostly improvised, the second one is closer to the original. The solos also use a wah, which is not used in the original. The fuzz pedal accounts for a lot of the darkness, which is in part due to the need to take away the high end from the guitars to leave room in the mix for the additional synth and organ elements in the mix (which are more prominent and emphasized in this style in comparison to the original guitar-centric version which keeps the guitars pretty full frequency due to their emphasis, also because there are fewer elements the guitars). The final instrumental part with the guitar solo is also not in the instrumental and is more of hendrix-y styled improvised blues solo. There is also a really cool sounding organ through most of it that is likely a Hammond B3 running through either a modeled or a real leslie rotating speaker with lot of drive on the organ. The breakdown part is really cool (after Oh lord yeah), as it reharmonizes the original to be much more soulful/gospel-y than the original minor second walkdown. The same goes for the verse "now it darkness world stops turning," it has a really sick synth pad with jazzy/r&b styled chords. The ending last few seconds is similar to the way the original ends. Overall, I'd say this is a bluesy-R&B version of the original with an improvised bluesy section!

I think this works because it adds the cultural twist from a group of people who have been historically oppressed by the powers of society, which is exactly what War Pigs is about.

Having seen Black sabbath sing this live in the mid 80's with Ian Gillian (Deep Purple fame) singing, and the End tour with Ozzie this tune has been in my top one for decades. I enjoyed this cover, in the aspect that I like to see people get out of their comfort zones and extend themselves. I've no idea who that singer is but I enjoyed the rendition, but still felt it was copy, mostly with extra effects, but you are right about the 2nd half. Check out Puddles Pity Party's rendition of this. A much more artistic performance and subtle interpretation of the best tune ever. T-Pains offering was acceptable and fairly enjoyable. Bro. If you’re going to have a channel like this and review covers, please familiarize yourself with the original. It was so frustrating hearing you say multiple times that you weren’t that familiar with the black sabbath version. Like just go listen it beforehand. You’re a music review channel and admitting to not being educated on the subject that you’re going to be covering? Also, tpain has been singing his ass off for 6-7 years without auto tune. You can't change the chords and chord structure written by Tony Iommi and expect the end result to have the same vibe. Otherwise the arrangement, musicianship and production are all acceptable. Not my cup of tea, but then I don't care for changes from the original recorded content - even if by the creator themselves (mostly)

Sorry.. didn't work for me... Sabbath sounds way heavier and it seems like he's struggling to get the same sound Ozzy just naturally has... T-Pain is a great singer.. don't get me wrong... But... Warpigs is already such a good song by total pros.. it's going to be kinda hard to do it better...
