Aside from its seat, I think I might've got the itch for a sports bike after riding this one 😅
A like and subscribe would be much appreciated 🙌 Hope y'all have a great day ❤️

Sincerest apologies for the audio quality on this one! No excuses, just didn't do proper audio testing before I filmed this 😫Will do better in future 🙌 Anyways, what do you guys think of this bike? Let me know your thoughts! 😀

i have a 2022 with 500kms on it. i love the bike. im going to get it unlocked to 90hp shortly. one thing that drives me nuts about the bike is the old phantom gear sometimes which then causes issues once you get it back into first (from non existant gear) upshifting into second sometimes goes into N or back into the phantom gear. Once u engage it again your fine up and down.
@jasondep

Glad to hear you're loving it! I can imagine it will be even more of a hoot once you get it unlocked 🙌 Not too sure about the phantom gear issue (sounds similar to what I would call a "false neutral"), from my short experience I didn't encounter this issue, but it doesn't mean it's non-existent, hopefully you get it sorted, best I can suggest is to be really firm with your gear shifts and apply a bit more pressure with your foot 😅 Happy and safe riding!
@nunayadoxing4623
@nunayadoxing4623 3 месяца назад
@jasondep yeah that's the one. It effects the next gear change after u got it back in gear 🙄

Might be something to get checked by a mechanic if it's a persistent issue 😞 if anyone else is experiencing this issue hopefully they can shed some light on why it's happening 🙏
@nunayadoxing4623
@nunayadoxing4623 3 месяца назад
@jasondep honestly I think it might be due to not being hard enough on up shifts from time to time between 1st and second... however, it still shouldn't do it in my opinion by design. There is quite allot of complaints online from others and Honda says it is what it is. Unless anyone else has managed to get a fix from Honda like u said

@dwreck203 3 месяца назад
Manually shifting I had the same issue, but started using the quick shifter 99% of the time and the problem is non-existent.

How does the restricted inline 4 compare to some of the LAMS 2 cylinder 650's you've tried? I'm torn at the moment, between something like the MT07 and the cb650r. The latter looks and sounds amazing, but restricting the inline 4 feels a bit like a crime hahaha.
@jasondep
@jasondep 8 месяцев назад
Even though it is restricted, the power from the inline 4 felt super smooth and the way the power comes on is incredibly linear, something I've found quite often with the bikes with more than 2 cylinders, plus the CBR650R looks really sharp too 😊 I am however definitely biased towards the MT07 because I do think as an all rounder it's probably the best bike in the class, it's been super reliable, incredibly fun and has a raucous exhaust note 😅

Did you get it unrestricted? If so does this effect it being road legal or rego?
@jasondep
@jasondep 7 месяцев назад
This was a rental so can't modify it myself lol😅 TLDR as far as I'm aware it's a bit of a gray area here in Australia. Technically if you modify a LAMS bike to be unrestricted, it would be "illegal" for someone on an RE/restricted type of license to ride the bike as the modifications would mean the bike is no longer a LAMS bike (i.e. only R/unrestricted license holders would be able to ride it). However, to my knowledge, sometimes even a simple modification as an exhaust/slip on is enough to make a LAMS bike non-compliant with LAMS regulations, but I think it depends on the state you live in and how the local police and local dealers decide to interpret the regulations. For example, I purchased my MT-07 LAMS while I was still on my RE/restricted license, and it came with a slip on exhaust already installed. However I remember taking my bike to a dealership for an appraisal and they said they wouldn't even be able to accept the bike as it doesn't have the stock exhaust 🙃 But then on the other hand I have had a police encounter (bike cop) where they have only mentioned the size of my mirrors as a potential issue (has nothing to do with LAMS regulations) and completely ignored the exhaust 😅
@gary9768
@gary9768 7 месяцев назад
@jasondep mate thank you so much for the in-depth reply, I have an R licence so there should be no issue? I don't want it to be a LAMS bike (ever) living in W.A by the way
@jasondep
@jasondep 7 месяцев назад
@@gary9768 glad to help where I can 😊 ah I see, in the case I would still recommend going to your local source by checking out WA's department of transport website for the specifics (maybe even contact them directly for clarification), but I do also believe (based off looking on bikesales.com.au) there is a non-LAMS version of the CBR650 called the CBR650FA but it is the previous generation of the bike in this video 😊 Happy and safe riding out there! 🙌

Great bikes, however with how heavy, upright and slow they are... I'd shy away from the term "Spirtbike" as this is a "Sport tourer". More upright, less track oriented with lesser brakes/suspension. More for the long haul at the cost of dynamics and performance. Good machines regardless, but compare it to say... a CBR600RR and you'll see a collosal difference. I went from my GSX650F to my GSXR750 and to say a slight difference is an understament. The 650 was smooth and friendly, but the 750 is an absolute monster of power and speed. It's gotta be a bummer being on a restricted bike like this making the same power as my Duke390 lol.
@jasondep
@jasondep 9 месяцев назад
Yeah definitely agree, that's why I think it's a "Superbike Starter Pack", it's not completely a Supersport but I think it provides a good introduction to anyone interested in getting a supersport type of bike in the future, particularly anyone who's still new to riding 🙌 Do wish it was a little lighter, like 208kg is probably too much for a LAMS bike 😅

The duke 390 has 20 less horsepower doesn’t it?
@someoneelse1i1i
@someoneelse1i1i 4 месяца назад
It’s a sport, not a super sport. But it’s fast for its class and most tests show the 650r will top out within 10 or 12 mph of the 600rr which IS a supersport. As a sidenote, I don’t understand this trend now toward calling these bikes sport tourers. For the longest, you had sport bikes, and supersports. Tourers had extra storage and larger windscreen, etc. no one is going touring on an R7 or a ninja 650 or even a CBR 650r.
