Going to be straight, I actually prefer the human limitations, in doing so, he may not as strong as Superman but is instead a better fighter as a result and the limitations allows him to test himself in full capacity without holding back.
so true if your apowerful being like superman you don't need combat skills as much because your hits are strong enough to wipe a a planet so I like superboys powers
@@ahunkytortoise4560 because one of the things that makes the character interesting is how he has to work with what he has. I mean if he gets all of Superman's powers it makes him less unique and also with his missing powers he has to fight smarter. But mostly it means the other team members are kept relevant and we don't get a power cliff
Xxxx Xxxx incorrect. He had all of Superman's powers sans heat vision and other vision related powers. He had an added bonus power of tactile telekinesis which he could use to literally dismantle things with a touch (and thought) and was for a time the basis of his invulnerability and super strength.
Xxxx Xxxx actually he only had tackyile telekinesis but could replicate his powers for example like for heat vision he would vibrate the molecules around him
I would prefer if superboy would grow in to his powers I mean like he would start of with the powers he has now and then they become stronger the he gets the power of flight then he gets heatvision etc.
I would like that as well. Then like in the comics he would try and live up to that responsibility of being Superman's protégé. I wouldn't mind if he got Tactile telekinesis like in the comic
I agree but he can't fly because the only reason superman can fly is that on krypton the gravity pushes down much harder then earth so when superman got to earth the gravity was so light he could fly bc the gravity was nothing but superboy has never been to krypton so he is just like human's but he can jump super high bc of his strength
jaden Zapata that’s not how it works he can fly because of krypton gravity has caused kryptonians to evolve and with stand it not because he was born there. If that was true baby supes would be crushed into a pancake the moment he was born
Oscar Miller wouldn’t he just float into the sky the moment he hit earths gravity, that could explain his invincibility and maybe super strength, but not flight
@@odessagumbs3205 he does have super speed since he’s physically enhanced but no where near Superman’s level or any of the Flashes. His speed is probably proportionate to his strength like someone like Hulk.
he should of gotten all of Superman's powers but weaker because it seems all he does every episode is get smacked around by EVERYONE. at least get him some more of those shields from s1
flight is a difficult thing to water down either you fly or you dont, and the only things in the middle are super jumps or unsustainable flight like on a planet with lower gravitational pull
Favourite Young justice character. I like how he is always supportive and level headed despite all the short comings and limitations life has given him.And his attire is good too. NO CAPES.
I'm confused I thought Superboy could fly in the 1990's version of Superman after the Death of Superman. Also theres issues of the updated Superboy vs Superboy prime where he flys all the way to space fighting Superboy Prime. DC Comics is very confusing. I need to know are these seperate universes or not, it all just doesn't make any since.
I personally like his attire bc that’s about how I dress. Jeans and a T-shirt. Nothing special. I just don’t to that kind of thing because it’s not my style. I feel like it’s useless because where I live? It would be ruined in under five minutes
Maybe they could have his powers mature over time, like in season three or four his eye-based powers expand and become more potent, eventually leading up to laser vision manifesting when his body is under stress. Kind of like how Fetch did in Infamous.
@@thedarkestknight1004 I said giving him Superman's powers would be the same thing basically in a combat role. You can say he wouldn't have heatvision but either way giving him all or most of the powers would make the other members less important and would make the dynamic of covering each other's weaknesses more uninteresting.. but mostly it would make the character decision to not use the patches meaningless what would be the point of those of he had no side effects.
The problem with superboy, and he's my favorite character in YJ, is that he doesn't change so his character feels stagnant and pointless. We saw dick grow and become nightwin, Superboy should also progress and grow. I think it should be written in that his human DNA contains the metagene so when he's struggling it awakens the telekinetic powers he has in other versions of the character also negating the affects of the cloning prosses allowing him to age.
I'd like the meta gene to respond by kind of releasing his latent Kryptionian powers, like a Solar healing factor, heat vision, flying, stuff like that. So that he stops aging all together and gets a happy life with M'gann.
I wish he started developing more kryptonian powers like Conner did Pre New 52. Or it would be great if he started developing some tactile telekinesis until it gets to the level it was in the comics where it was full fledged telekinesis and he could even use it to scan areas around him and use blasts too.
They wasted so much time. He was supposed to start with tactile telekinesis it would have even made his relationship with Ms. Martian make more sense in that regard. They might skip past the tactile telekinesis and go straight for him developing full kryptonian powers which he does eventually in the comics
New 52 Kon-El is rumored to be more powerful than even Superman because of his tactile telekinesis. His powers are pysionic. Which he can be as strong as he wills himself to be. He is so powerful that even when he was weakened by kryptonite radiation he had enough strength to lift an entire city using his tactile telekinesis and throw it into deep space.
I quite like Superboy's character a lot because he's young and has potential. I just wished that further seasons had him unlocking more Kryptonian powers like flight and heat vision for Season 2.
Both the Smallville and the Young Justice versions of Superboy (Kon-El) are good, but i recon cadmus also secretly made something other than those black patches to block his Human DNA, like made clothes or jewelry enchanted to mimic the full extent of his powers, because he would not have been strong enough to compete let alone win
superboy is fine like he is, if in any case, in a exposure of kryptonite, he would last longer than superman because his half human DNA not only limits his power but it also make him resist kryptonite longer than superman
I like that Kon-el has both human and Krypton DNA, meaning both part of the strength and weakness of Smallville and Metropolis favorite son, however it would be nice to see Kon-el over time via Young Justice to be fully trained by Kal-El and eventually morph into the Man of Steel as Superman's replacement, as we all know, Lex Luthor is always plotting or trying to kill Superman, so it would be nice to see Kon-El come to Kal-El's aid and or rescue. This would solidify a Father/Son type of healing and bonding, especially since Kal-El lost his Father and now has the opportunity to move forward. I for one, would also love to see Wonder Woman and Superman link up as Husband and wife. One last thing, it would be wonderful to see Wally, Artemis, Superboy all brought back in season 3 of Young Justice, the good guys need healing after sacrificing so much for mankind survival.
I think that it would be interesting for Superboy to develop Superman’s full power set, although in weaker capacities. For example, using his heat vision causes his solar power to drain more quickly, he can’t fly as fast, ice breath also chills him slowly, etc. It all comes down to his human side diluting the kryptonian powers that build up as he accrues more sunlight over time like Supes did.

I love superboy. I was a little hesitant in the 1st season, because he was such a brood, Always grunting like that, but I love how he was developped in later seasons, growing more compassionate, his anger, when it was there, being MUCH more justified and such. Plus, they actually take time to explain his trope-like behaviour. (Same as with Miss Martian, by the way, love the reveal of her being what she was, and her lying about it)
@@wizardmongol4868 I'll rephrase: they didn't explain it, as in using monologue to give reason why, but rather they showed how these characters were the way they were.
Superboy is definitely my favorite character in YJ. I think his limits add to that character and his character development. We saw how in season 1, he was insecure that he was not as strong as Superman. I think Superboy may have felt that Superman rejected him because of that and not just because he's a clone, Over the seasons, this has helped me love Conner even more because of how he's matured even with his lesser strength. In season 1, he was more of a tank or a battering ram but he developed his hand-to-hand combat abilities to make up for that. I think he's had the most character development out of everyone over the 3 seasons of Young Justice
Honestly i really liked in the comics how he has tactile telekinese and i wish they would do like an episode where he unlocks that ability. And everyones happy, he gets a power boost and is able to fly but hes not so powerful to the point hes like superman and can handle everything on his own
His "human limitations" were just a weak way of dealing with him as a character, they did the same in his first solo comic series. His second series was a better representation of him as a clone. He was my favorite on Young Justice but, I would've preferred if they gave him his full power, just decreasing them so they grow gradually same as Superman did from teenage to adult years.
He had patches that suppressed his human DNA for an hour allowing him to have all his powers increased to Superman's levek, but they had the side effect of making his anger even harder to control
You’re right about the Kryptonite being weaker against Superboy. In that clip, Superman is straight up knocked unconscious by it while Superboy just falls to his knees and recovers shortly afterwards.
So I just thought of something involving superboy, what if it’s not his genes but the hyper growth. Like we know in a lot of canon’s the first power Superman gains is his strength. And he keeps that power and then over his teenage years gains more powers(I’m rusty and could be wrong.) Though they bring the case what if sense he ages internally and not physically it stops his body from completely developing kryptonian powers. If I remember in the comics when they fixed his genetics that allowed him to age normally that’s when he slowly began gaining kryptonian abilities.
I'll be honest, at first superboys limitations really bugged me, but now I see that not only does it help make the story more compelling, it represents that although he bears resemblance to superman, they are not the same
what if aqualad robin and kid flash found match first?then they would fight match and turn him good, tho he would probably put up alot more residence and would be angrier than the canon superboy, but he would probably gain the same personality as the canon superboy and then we would basically get a superboy with full kryptonian powers
He's really, to me anyway, a throwback to the original superman. From way way back. He wasn't invulnerable and couldn't fly, but because he was born on krypton he was stronger and faster and more dense because of the much higher gravity there. I really like what they've done with superboy in this series.
I think Superboy is really awesome but I wished they had Superman train him, and he found a way to break his human limit thing and get his other super powers
Season 3 superboy compared to season's 1&2 superboy is a lot stronger and more "super" he actually is useful and dosen't get ragdolled everytime in fact he ragdolled icicle jr,shimmer, and mammoth
Conner is easily more interesting than just about any Superman I've come across in media, especially from how his limitations force him to use his mind and allow us to see a character with struggles about who he is and what he can do.
I like Superboy in whatever medium, but I liked the version where he had Tactile Telekinesis which he used to mimic Superman's powers, and additional powers on his own like disassembling robots and technology.
Even if superman did train him, he would not be a full kryptonian, as this all comes down to DNA. He is only half kryptonian so it would make sense if he did not develop all the powers of superman.
I like the idea that superboy has half human DNA and the other kryptonion but because of the yellow sun it should mean that he has to gain the powers that superman has. So he still has obstacles to take on and with each obstacle out of the way he gains 1 of superman's powers each time 2 at the most. I say that gives the fans a little bit of both
Eh I get this version of me was meant to be downgraded and all but I still feel like he should have at the very least had flight and be more stronger (and possibly have heat vision) because majority o the time it seemed like every foe he faced that had some level of super strength was almost always able to swat him away (granted some of the foes they faced were literal JL level foes like Despero who has taken on Superman, Martian Manhunter Shazam (Captain Marvel at the time) and so on.
KON- EL nice to see you here Kon. Now that S3's confirmed, maybe he'll get new powers one day? Of course they still have to focus on bringing back Wally, filling in the gaps in the missing years, bringing Darkseid etc. but It would be great if they give Superboy another good storyline that could possibly amp his powers.
HE GOT 'SHIELDS' OFF OF LEX LUTHOR, THEY WERE LIKE NICOTINE PATCHES THAT SUPPRESSED HIS HUMAN DNA AND GAVE HIM FULL KRYPTONIAN POWERS FOR A LIL WHILE, LIKE HALF AN HUR OR SO, BUT THEY ALSO SENT HIM A BIT NUTS AND HE WENT PSYCHO ANGRY, AN I JUST NOTICED THAT CAPS LOCK IS ON, BUT I'M NOT RETYPING THIS :)
I like the Super boy character just the way they created him. His powers are limited. The stories that will be created with this super boy character are going to be limitless.
I like how he's able to adapt and use his limitations, it makes him a better team player. As for Superman's reaction to meeting a clone of himself. His reaction was WAY better than when he met Bizarro! But how would you react, meeting a clone of yourself? A younger you. I wouldn't know what to say either. My first words would be: "Sorry kid. I-I...I need some time to process this."
I wonder what would happen if Superboy ate Ultra-Energy Beast meat, like how Ultra Boy got his powers, and if it would allow him to have access to all his powers permanently, since he's half kryptonian.
@@davidreynolds2390 so by telling me to shut up you must know for a 100% certainty that no matter what a human can go through we wont develop any sort of mutation that could possibly give any sort of power. Heck just being next to radioactive material it puts our body under a transformation at the cellular level. Yeah sure it give cancer( the uncontrollable regeneration of unheathy cells so whats to say in 200 years we couldnt make that into a positive. What im saying is just because we dont understand the human body with 100% certainty. So by this logic which i can assume is far over your head since it seems your a mircrocephalic addleplate and seem to not understand that there are unknown unknowns things we dont know that we dont know.
@@liquidsleepgames3661 I'm pretty sure a red sun is less powerful than a yellow sun, so i doubt it would have any effect other than the human not getting enough sun
I think Kryptonian DNA is so hard for Earth Science to clone because kryptonians had been modifying and improving their genome for thousands of years. And the Superboy in the Titans show seems to have all Superman's powers except flight, but again at a reduced level.
“Superman has no real obstacle or challenges to him” ,but he does have weaknesses and people who can beat Superman or give him some trouble. Examples would be. -Darkseid -Kyptonite -Batman No explanation needed for Batman ,because he’s Batman.
One thing I don't get is if full kryptonian DNA didn't work why didn't they supplement it with like Amazonian DNA instead of human if they did superboy may of been able to atleast fly
Excellent analysis.Only in listening to this video did it occur to me that Superboy's power limits come from the fact that he only has ENHANCEMENTS of human abilities, not ones no normal human would have an analog to.
From what I remembered from Superboy it’s kind of like how Smallvile starts in a way Clark can’t fly and use heat vision it’s only later he’s able to do that as he gets older and personally I think Connor will acquire similar abilities down the line.
Different writers want to do different things with the character and leave there own mark, plus it would get a lil boring if the character was always exactly the same in every film, tv series and movie, cos you'd know exactly what was going to happen
Superboy was retconed in 2003. Before that he wasn't Kryptonian at all. Instead he was a human clone that was genetically altered to be as Kryptonian as possible and converted Superman's bio-aura into a telekinetic field which gave him tactile telekinesis that simulated Superman's flight, invulnerability and super strength, along with several other powers that Superman didn't posses.
Megann is the only one who will ever live up to there mentors abilities, they wrote it that way they wanted their hero’s to have limits, hence why aqualad has the pack (so he has a source of water but not a surplus) and why Wally’s so much slower then other speedsters.
What if Superboy, as he ages, gets powers, just like superman as he grows older, remember when he was at the barn, he discovered he has powers like super strength, flying, heat vision, it would be amazing for a process like that.
