Even if Gérard Christopher get the job after the first season-I always wanted the first one. Because of John. He did it very well and had a good flying technique.

It’s too bad that this and John Hayne Newton’s Screen test was the only feature including on Season One DVD Boxset. I would love to learn more behind the scenes stories from the cast and crew of Superboy. Thank Goodness for RU-vid

John Newton was my favourite Superboy, i prefered his interpretation over Gerard Christopher

I agree. i did warm up to Gerard but it took me the whole 2nd season lol. however i would have preferred John Newton to continue. his Clark was Great while Gerard was cartoonish

It was OK but I just didn't see him as superboy. I guess it's because I had Christopher Reeve in mind whenever I thought of Superman and therefore, to me, a younger version of a character would have to look like Chris. John just looked like a young Elvis Presley in a Superman costume. Plus he looked like an adult as opposed to a teenager.

But for some reason John Newton was cut from the set . That's when the other superboy replace John Newton . The new actor was more muscular . That is what I don't like about entertainment or can't understand why they would do any celebrity like that. It sucks.

From what I understand the reason why John was replaced was 2 part. He was demanding a much higher salary and he got a DUI.

There’s a video here on RU-vid where John Hayne Newton stated to someone who interviewing him the producers of the show promised to pay him more money cause he was doing majority of his stunts which most of them were life threatening but they lied which is why he quit and was replaced by Gerald Christopher.@@jeepthing98
