i saw this yesterday in melbourne and it WAS AMAZING! it was a full house and we kept calling for encores of this song. the music and story is just amazing. thank you to all the people who put this wonderful and classic musical together!
Did she REALLLY say it backward as well?!?! I have enough trouble saying it forwardsBut I'm getting better.......now to master it backwards See ya in 20 hours😒
ChewingTinFoil I really appreciate that she said it backwards correctly. In the movie, she just breaks the word into chunks and reverses the order of the chunks instead of actually saying the word backwards. Both versions of “backwards” sound cool and I will never be able to say either of them though😂
Good, but love movie more. No lullaby or tea party scene her,but the scenery, lighting, and dancing were awesome. Loved the Bird Woman scene best. Made me cry a bit, even in the movie. Very touching. All in all, it was great and I had a blast. My little sis never saw the movie, so it was a treat for her to see this, and a treat for me to share with her. Thank you.
This has been announced but is not yet up on the website. Please check the Around the World section of the Disney on Broadway website for future information.
QueenGummy DUDE I FEEL YOU TOO srsly we haven't even learned the alphabet yet for the thing. the ot her people have?? apparently jANE AND MICHAEL DIDN'T COME TO THE MEETING. HE DIDN'T TELL US TO OTL
Just watched this today in Denver! SOOOOO AH-MAZING!!! Gavin Lee was in it reprising his role as Bert and he was spectacular! The sets, the costumes, the choreography and music- it was all so wonderfull! Its shows like these that make me fall in love with theater all over again!!!
It would also have existed sooner if PL Travers wasn't so angered by the movie that she refused to grant the rights for another adaptation until she was sure no one in connection of the production of the original movie nor any Americans would be involved... and this still didn't happen until she was close to dying.
We asked Anthony Lyn, Lion King Associate Director about the dialects in this clip. He explained that Ashley Brown (Mary) is speaking in a standard upper class English dialect. The manner in which the upper class spoke in 1910 England, when the piece is set, is very different from how they speak today. Ashley, just like all the lead actors, worked extensively with Deborah Hecht, one of the nations leading authorities on dialects and accents.
I was supposed to be in Mary Poppins as Michael Banks (the little boy) but it was cancelled bc of covid :( I was so excited to say “she may be tricky but she’s bloody good” D:
When my class was in NYC we got to go backstage and meet the choreographer and some of the minor cast members, and they taught us THIS dance. It was the COOLEST expeirience EVER!! :)
Omg omg omg. This finally opens in AAustralia this year.Opens in melbourne in july so unfortunately being a sydneysider i wont get it till mid next year but freakin who cares im finally going to get to see it.Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't think about time periods. It might be a bad english accent for the present time, but this takes place in late 1800s, early 1900s if I'm not mistaken. They sounded very much like this back then.
I play Mary Poppins in our schools musical that's coming up in march and i CAN NOT figure out how to say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards :l
Which way? In this she pronounced it Soo cod iliap exit silly gar fila crepus I hope this helped as in dance we are doing the letters differently and i am the only one who can do it fast. So I am playing Mary Poppins in our show.
I'm sorry this is so rad but did you not pay attention at all to to the backward spelling of the word from the movie? its so unique and genius how they put it together and you completely seemed oblivious to such a incredible piece or writing in that song. the word is not backwards the way you presented it. the performance is incredible. that part is so epic. you know?
We did this choreo, summer of 2020. I was the bird woman back then, but the same theater's doing it again this year, and I'm coming back as Mary Poppins. I'm desperately trying to learn how to say it backwards so I can be on top of it at the first rehearsal tomorrow B)
