This race was a shock because quite a few fans probably thought the championship was all but sown up for Scotty after Saturday. Newcastle is a pretty crappy street circuit if it's not the final round of the championship, the risk vs reward is the gimmick of the circuit, making it the season opener really exposed its weakness without it, nobody would drive risky at the 1st round. That really killed this track.
Yep Scotty got ripped off for sure, Scotty 39 km down pit lane my opinion is the race officials new that it was Jammie Whincup last race to win 7 Championship and it would have been Scotty first 😢
Sounds like a bitter Ford fan excuse. And if that didn't happen Scotty would've never darted into Samona and ran Lowndes into the wall right? He had 2 chances after that to win the Championship and screwed up both of them. My opinion: He lost twice.
As a Ford fan, I can say McLaughlin’s penalty was 100 percent justified. He absolutely screwed De Silvestro’s race. He threw it away through his own stupidity.
