double thumbs up on changing the Shortcut Forwarding Engine and Flow Acceleration. Doubled my download bandwidth from 400mb to 990mb. Much more inline with what I'd expect with fiber

I have a netgear r7000 I bought it a get years ago already flashed with DD WRT already on it, but I haven't updated nothing in years can I upgrade it just like you are showing on this video and add a vpn

I have 2 of these routers, one set up as router, the other as AP in bridge mode with wired connection. Will I lose that functionality by going to dd-wrt?

Finally did the DD-WRT on my R7000 tonight. I have 300MB Spectrum internet, but my PC is connected to the router wirelessly. I made the changes you suggested. I was getting only 170MB download before DD-WRT. Now I've lost 40MB of that. Not happy. I was setting this up to put a VPN on it, but now I'm second-guessing the change. A VPN will suck even more of what little bandwidth I have left. Bummer!
