This gives me motivation to finish my build. Tomei V2 Headers and Motordyne TDX 2 waiting... But I can't wait to hear it in person. :)

Glad to see you still have your Z!! I remember 2 and a half years ago watching your motordyne video before I bought my 2007 350z. Came back to watch your video and was excited to see this update!! Looks mean and clean! :D Would love to boost my car as well.

i have a 2007 350z HR and I'm looking into doing something similar to mine
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 7 лет назад
Nice. The HR is a substantially better motor with a lot more potential than my DE RevUp. They say that the stock-block limit is around 420whp before the integrity of the rods starts to become a concern, so I've basically hit an invisible wall; your HR should be able to handle over 500whp on the stock block without issue. If I were in your shoes and weighing options, I'd probably go with a good TT setup over the SC, since you can push more power/torque more easily.

+oNAGAothat sounds freakin badass! how much does a super charger setup like that cost? and what exhaust are you running cuz it sounds sick!
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 7 лет назад
Thanks! It can be somewhat expensive. I'd have to go back and run the numbers, but between the supercharger, the supporting mods (fuel pump, injectors, spark plugs, etc.), and the tune, it will probably run you around $5-7K. I know that I had my build (wheels/wing/hood/gauges/supercharger/supporting mods/tune) budgeted for a little over $10K when it was all said and done. The exhaust is a Motordyne TDX exhaust - one of the very first ones they released. Motordyne is expensive, but they have - by far - the best products available for the Nissan Z / Infiniti G platforms. You can also see my full list of mods in the information of the video or at the end of the video.

So I'm going through the mod list, and it looks to me like you're still running the stock long block. Those numbers are VERY impressive for our RevUps. Have you given any thought to upgrading the internals?
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 7 лет назад
Thanks, man. I have thought about upgrading the internals, but never really felt the need. At first, it was a matter of me being leery of performing that level of surgery on the motor and possibly screwing up a good thing. But at this point, it's become more of a cost/benefit issue; I don't know that I'm committed to getting more power that what it's putting down at the moment. That, and everything I've seen seems to indicate that the RevUp can handle up to 420whp before reliability starts to become a concern, so I'm in kind of a sweet spot for both reliability and performance right now. In all actuality, I've been testing the market to see if anyone might be interested in giving this little beast a new home. Perhaps a new owner might be more inclined to take the car to that next level with upgraded internals.

Hey man love the car! I picked up a 2006 roadster GT and a friend of mine has a Vortech supercharger kit he may sell to me since hes parting his Z. Did you build your internals first?

how may miles have you put into that supercharger already? and any issues at all since you have had it?

Great Videos, and thank you for sharing your project. I picked up an 08 Roadster last May, with only 27k miles on it. I want to build it out over time, with my initial build being similar, if not exact to what you have on your first video, and eventual supercharging later on. I was wondering if you did a dyno on it prior to the Supercharger. I was told approx. $4k will get me about 330 to the wheels. Does this sound correct? The build would be Stillen Gen 3, MD art pipes, with MD exhaust, "not sure which one" and an Uprev Tune. The price and quote was given to me by a well known shop here on Long Island. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

@oNAGAo 7 лет назад
Thanks! I'd say that 330 whp is an extremely high estimate for bolt-on setup, even for a VQ35HR. The '07+ Z typically will dyno in around 260whp when stock (significantly higher than a VQ35DE like mine originally would have). While I have seen them crack 300whp without going forced induction, the highest I have seen on a typical dyno is around 310-315whp with headers included.At the end of the day, however, what you care about are going to be the gains - not necessarily the final number. Bragging rights are all well and good, but dynos will vary from shop to shop and model to model. I've seen the exact same car put down a two different numbers 30whp apart from one another just by changing shops. Gains from mods, however, aren't nearly as subject to that kind of variation. So always focus on the before/after changes when you can.As for the dynos pre-supercharger, I did; however, they were all on different dynos. You can actually check them out in my much, much older videos. So The best I can give is an estimate of somewhere over 270whp with intake, spacer, headers, ART Pipes, TDX, and tune... and that's on a different platform than your wonderfully more robust 2008.TL;DR: I think you'll be EXTREMELY pleased with the build you laid out - that will sound glorious and perform equally well, regardless of whether you hit the magic 330whp number.

I figured there was some hype built into the cake, so to speak, as the shop wants to sell a service. Either way however, it sounds great, and I'm looking forward. Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it. BTW, plain stock, and with the added weight of the roadster, the car still beats many other higher powered cars, and hangs very close with much more powerful cars. Nissan has achieved a very high rate of efficiency with the Z between the high revs, and the gearing. As long as the driver knows the vehicle, it is truly an over-achiever, and I love it! Enjoy.

hey! Have a 350z with similar mods... vortec v3, kenetix intake manifold, shorty headers, invidia true dual, and test pipes, fuel pump, STOCK INJECTORS. only one size smaller pulley from factory included vortec pulley. my question is, did you stick with the vortech supplied split second timing box? or did you go with a standalone? thanks!
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 8 лет назад
+Spencer Schneickert Nice! I hope it's running well :) As for the tuning option, I didn't touch the Vortech-supplied timing box. Instead, I went with Uprev's software. Everything that I had read as I was planning it out suggested using something other than the split second timing box. It also helped that I already had an Uprev license on my car from back when I was just running bolt-ons. The gentlemen at Jotech recommended either Uprev or EcuTek for software tuning, with the latter being preferred for forced induction applications.
@AXRBiKeCoMpAnY
@AXRBiKeCoMpAnY 8 лет назад
+oNAGAo ahh, so did you just ditch the Split second timing box all together? just used Ecutek with the stock ecu, like a reflash? thanks for the response, just trying to get everything dialed in on this car.
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 8 лет назад
+Spencer Schneickert No worries. I either ditched it altogether, or it didn't come with the tuner kit in the first place - I think it was the latter, but it's hard to remember at this point. In either case, yeah, I just used a software reflash to tune my ECU. It's probably the most cost-effective way of going about it, considering the costs associated with Haltech and other similar options. My understanding is that Uprev and UcuTek are both great options, but the latter provides a few more options for the tuner to take advantage of when it comes to forced induction applications. (If I could make a recommendation - I'd definitely suggest increasing the size of your injectors when you get your car tuned. But seeing how you capitalized that one... I'm guessing you probably knew that already :) )

Have you tracked it? I'd love to see what kind of times it makes.
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 7 лет назад
I've actually never tracked it, but I would love to know that as well. I'd probably need new tires before trying to make an honest go of that, as these ones just slip like mad after 5000rpm. Hooking up would be a nightmare.

Where did your torque go under 4K?!?!
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 6 лет назад
What do you mean? At 4K, it gained roughly 50ft-lbs of torque. If you mean why does it have lower torque than it does at higher RPM, that's just the nature of centrifugal superchargers; they build boost as you build RPM.

It's actually just moisture in the air - it was an unusually foggy morning. I thought about re-shooting it at a different time, but I kept it because it looked cool. In retrospect, I maybe should have said something about it.
