People who have meditated for thousands of hours exhibit a remarkable difference in their brainwaves. Psychologist and author Daniel Goleman says we can actually see what happens in the heads of those who have achieved "enlightenment."
“Perhaps the most remarkable findings in the Olympic level meditators has to do with what’s called a gamma wave. All of us get gamma for a very short period when we solve a problem we’ve been grappling with, even if it’s something that’s vexed us for months.
We get about half a second of gamma; it’s the strongest wave in the EEG spectrum… What was stunning was that the Olympic level meditators…their brainwave shows gamma very strong all the time as a lasting trait just no matter what they’re doing,” says Goleman.

Funny there’s another video with the exact same title posted by BigThink. The only difference between the videos is bigthink posted this 3 years ago and looks like you added a few seconds for an intro.

Good eye! The Well is a new channel created by Big Think. We're using some archival content to help get it started.

@@Stonepotwaffles I haven’t seen any of BigThink’s content so I appreciate the reupload to reach more people. It’s a smart marketing tactic.

@@The-Well as someone who is already subbed into Big Think, the reuploads are actually rather annoying. I click the video (which almost always has a different thumbnail than the original) and end up getting the same thing I had watched previously, sometimes even getting recommended the same video after I watched it on Big Think. Recycling your content isn't cool and I would've thought this company is big enough that they would be able to do more than resort to something that I wouldn't even expect out of a solo creator.

It's about being in the Gamma 🌊 all the time, instead of just 0.5 second 🤷‍♂️ But let me teach you more : - 24hrs-72hrs or longer fasting will help with entering meditation state easier & quicker. Your body naturally meditate on its cells. - Being vegans 🌱 is essential, as it stops the chaos of other animal frequencies entering yourself. - Never rushing in meditation, but slow, consistent and daily practice will help.

I thought that when you meditate you move into lower states from beta to alpha theta then delta at the lowest. How would these meditators be in a gamma state? I thought that gamma was the highest state of awareness, beyond our normal beta operating?

Happy to come across to this questioning. You dont know what really means that vibration they showed in their brains at all times during the study but I DO KNOW. That is the frequency to tune with these beings you cannot see that are our creators. That is the bridge the keep open to administrate the information that is provided. They also use our bodies as carriers. That is what it means for real. They will never leave alone to those olympic meditators. Never.

I am an atheist from India and must therefore respond with disappointment to the content of the clip. Religion is man-made. It has no bearing in reality. It's convenient and comforting, and therefore popular. Meditation is a religious practice. It's carried out by people who seek an escape from the difficult and often dangerous lives that they lead. It doesn't lead to a higher state. But it's comforting, I suppose, to escape life's monotony. There should be no place for this in science. The truth is always superior, even when it's depressing. Even when it's dangerous. Even when it's fatal. We are not important.

Great points. As another agnostic from India...this I can say: meditation need not be escapist, it often is not. There might be some insularity in the practice but experienced gurus recommend making normal life itself one's meditation. And as far as I know, many religions, even the eastern ones called "otherworldly," are very practical at core. A respected teacher of mine, a scholar of Indian logical traditions, calls them "life-affirming." Science need not come in...but it has been in trying to make sense of the effect of meditation on people's demonstrable well-being. I find the human experimentation a little...overbearing and presumptuous, perhaps. But stress and therefore stress-reduction are big areas of research in the west. Hence the search for scientific bases of these meditation techniques...

I think you've missed the point. Even I am atheist from India, but I practice meditation regularly. The benefits of even some regular practice are undeniable. It might be very hard to convince someone who hasn't tried meditation to start it, but the benefits are simply life changing. Even rationalist atheist like sam harris talk at length about meditation ❤

I think proclaiming YOUR particular perception of meditation and that it’s connected to religion is a vast over-generalization. Meditation does need to have anything to do with religion. It sounds like you might be having a hard time? Perhaps you’re projecting unresolved spiritual issues and then blaming poor meditation…

@@kickingleaves5122 Exactly this. Also the person seems to be confusing his contempt for religion with his contempt for theism. Sad.
