Hi Tim thanks for the information. How much protein should be added to feeds for lambs, pregnant ewes, rams and lactating ewes
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms Год назад
Hi, Lorraine. I think 12-14% is a great place to start and about 1 pound per head per day for adults and growing lambs. I know it would seem weird to feed babies as much as the adults but they are growing…. Usually you will find lactation puts a higher demand on the moms as well. We would advise checking the body condition often and adjusting your feed accordingly.

I may have missed it, but what ages are these recipes best for? Thank you for all the informational videos.

Hello, Justin. Almost all mixes can be provided to any age. The amount and protein level is the factor to consider when looking at the age of your lambs or goat kids. If you only have a few animals, we sell a complete feed product you can mix in with corn or corn and oats. You can see all our complete feed pellets at www.foundationfeed.com

You talk about adding your supplements to cracked corn, but I don't think I have ever seen you put corn in your feed mixing videos... Or are you don't it different now?

I recognize this video is 2 years old, but I was interested in knowing whether you incorporated a formula using Mix 30. I just received an order of Show Pro Gold and the 40% lamb supplement from Hunter Nutrition. Unfortunately, Hunter Nutrition no longer ships bulk molasses. Apparently there was a problem with leakage during shipping. Were you considering Mix 30 as a replacement for molasses? Thanks! Todd

@LinessaFarms 4 месяца назад
You may be able to get molasses from your local feed mill. It would be worth inquiring. To answer your question, yes. We have used mix 30 in our feed mixes and it seems to work fairly well. It is thinner than molasses and doesn’t provide as “tacky” of a surface but still works fine. I would start with about 4 cups per 50 pounds of dry mix and see where you need to go from there.

Where do i get the crushed limestone is is agri lime?
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 3 месяца назад
Most of the time you can get it at your local farm store as “barn lime”. The label should say it is calcium carbonate.

what are your thoughts about adding black sunflower seeds to the feed mix for goats?
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms Год назад
I think that’s a great idea. They have lots of energy, fiber, and are high in lots of healthy fats. If you can get them at a reasonable rate, I think it would be a great addition to your feed and your goats would appreciate the gift. 😬

@@LinessaFarms Can it also be given to sheep and at what percentage in your feed? Should it be the sunflower seed only or can it be in the shell still?

Can you use dry molasses?
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 2 года назад
Hello, Rana. Thanks for watching our videos and thanks for taking the time to ask a question. We like to use liquid molasses because it coats the feed and makes it sticky. This allows our dry materials and powders to stick to the feed evenly and it gives our feed a more even consistency. Otherwise powders we might add such as limestone, sodium bicarbonate, and even soy bean meal will more than likely just settle to the bottom of the mix and not get distributed evenly. Dry molasses is usually made up of byproducts such as peanut shells, walnut shells, pieces of straw, etc which have been sprayed with molasses and dried. Hope this helps! Have a great day and thanks again.

Are there diferent kinds of Molasses? Cos i want to use it for my goat feeds
@LinessaFarms
@LinessaFarms 2 года назад
There are multiple kinds of molasses available for retail purchasers. Most farm or livestock grade molasses is only one kind. In the store it would be labeled as regular molasses or black strap molasses.

So these mixes are only good for lambs or kids? Do you have a video on adult goats? Mine are dairy goats.

We have a wide variety of feed for ewes, does, kids, lambs, and males. We have medicated pellets, free choice minerals, medicated minerals with vitamins, and a really nice liquid additive we have a TON of our dairy goat friends use. You can check out the feed store online at www.foundationfeed.com I am including a link to a video showing how we mix up our wet feed with our liquid additive. It’s cheap and a little goes a long way. We have had exceptional results with people using it for dairy goats/milk production. Plus it’s non-medicated. If you decide you want to try one of our products, send me an email at customerservice@foundationfeed.com and I will send you a discount code for 10% off. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CuHJpmeHu4Y.html

Hey Tim once again a great video. I'm using a 16% kid and goat medicated feed. I did loose two bucks over the years to urinary calculi. I use this feed in my creep as well as my grown animals but the kids don't seem to really eat it vigorously. I'm not really worried about boosting protein for the animals but do you think that if I added the limestone, molasses, and show gold it would make it more appealing to the kids, plus help with the urinary situation. Or should I be feeding something else to the grown goats.
