I love the way SuperM think Mark and Lucas are basically the cutest people on this earth 😭 I feel like it’s because of the big age gap since Ten who’s the one directly older than them is still 3 years older than them and the rest are like 4-7 years older, so they tend to treat Mark and Lucas so cutely it’s honestly adorable because they have such like younger brother vibes idk how to describe it 😭😭

Mark: “You’re very manly” Kai: *lmfaoo wait till you see my teddy bear collection dude” 🧸🥰 Lol but in all seriousness, I’ve seen a lot of reactors look puzzled whenever idols refer to each other as ‘manly’, and it does have some specific not-so-healthy connotations in western vocabulary, but it seems more like the concept of manliness in Korean society translates into being someone who looks after those around you, makes sure they are okay and puts up with uncomfortable things for the sake of others. It’s very much a self-sacrificing caregiver kinda archetype. That’s why Exo members often describe Baekhyun as the ‘manliest’ one despite his goofiness because he always pays attention to the needs of especially his younger ones and is the most flexible person when things are hard.

Baekhyun and Taeyong have the sweetest relationship i swear, Baekhyun is so supportive and Taeyong is just simply head over the heels all the time lol All the interactions in this group are so funny. Kai, Mark and Lucas are like peak brother trio. Ten and Taemin are so sweet too. The NCT members are all the youngest so it's basically just them being babied all the time lol The hierarchy thing still applies, Mark meant more like Kai doesn't look down on Mark for being less experienced, but also yeah even if you're ages are different, it's not uncommon for friend groups to lessen the intensity of those rules, especially if the gaps aren't that big. Like if you establish it together, you don't necessarily have to follow that all the time. Sometimes, these groups will follow that situationally, but not all the time in their everyday off camera interactions.

They're so funny. Taemin and Ten admire each other a lot, I remember when I watched "SuperM has a love triangle and it's getting problematic" that was so hilarious.

The thing about Lucas though, he's probably the MOST handsome/beautiful person I've ever seen in my life. But he might also be the best person I've ever come across. He's such a good person. He cares so deeply about those around him and especially his fans. His heart is made of pure gold. And he's talented as helllllllllll. I refuse to believe he is actually real lol. Also Taemin's hands are tiny, but it's not a fair comparison to Lucas's because his hands are gigantic lmao!

The relationship and the speech honorifics with someone in Korea are decided by the old one between the two if the older one say that it’s ok to speak comfortably as a friend then that’s how it be.

Yeah, you're right, age plays a big role in the korean society, but there're different ways to communicate with those who is in the higher position than you (age, job and so on), so there're formal respectful language and informal respectful language. For example, when Kai and Mark weren't close, Mark had to call him "sunbae" (it's like a senior or someone who is in the higher position at work/school), but now that they are closer Mark can adress him as "hyung", he still got to talk to him respectfully, but it's more informal. For example Jungwoo (nct 127) and Mark have a one year age gap, but since they are in the same group and share same interests they decided to talk absolutly informal as "same age friends", but that wouldn't be a case with Mark and Kai, 'cause the gap is too big both for their ages and expirience. So what Mark was talking about is that Kai doesn't really put pressure on him, and that's really sweet

You really get to see a different side of all of them through SuperM. It's just as hysterical as it is adorable. Especially when you see Taemin go from being SHINee's baby to being a hyung in SuperM. It contrasts more in their Mtopia series they did.

I love this kind of video too! it makes my heart warm and a good guide to really highlight their personalities' charms.. like Baekhyun is literally a comedian, but he is dependable and has capable leadership, and Taeyong is really obsessed with Baekhyun, he always has been fan of Baekhyun and so proud that he made it to be in the same group with him.. there are joking videos of how Doyoung (of NCT 127) is jealous because Taeyong could not stop talking about being close to Baekhyun in SuperM lol.. and Kai being super kind and caring hyung, Ten being the art himself and Lucas has always spread positive energy to people around him and encourage others.. Taemin, Kai and Baekhyun are already very successful and household names in Korea (and other countries affected by Hallyu wave) long before they join SuperM, so it is really heartwarming to see how they treat the NCT members very kindly and friendly.. Lucas and Mark are being babied a lot by their older members because they are both the youngest members (born in '99), and they have cute personalities there is a very good episode of SuperM being guests in Knowing Bros/Men on A Mission ep 245 in 2020.. I watched it on Netflix but I'm not sure if it is available on Netflix US.. some of the ep clips are available on youtube they are so funny, and check SuperM As We Wish episodes (available on youtube - you have to check Lucas acting episode fr it is hilarious) and of course Mtopia (a limited series of reality show for SuperM)!

Yes, Super M is SM Entertainment’s Super Group, and that’s where the name came from. About this show, it’s really cute how two best friends chose other partners for these friendship tests. Taemin and Kai are best friends and trained together. Even though Taemin (b. July ‘93) debuted 4 years before Kai, he’s only 6 months older. Also, Kai (b. January ‘94) was born before the Chinese New Year: by Korean standards, they were born on the same year and are the same age. Sharing a stage as members of the same group is a dream come true for both of them. So endearing, really. On the other hand, Mark is 5 years younger than Kai, and debuted 4 years later. They are really close friends now, but Mark can’t ignore the age difference. Since he’s Canadian, he can drop formalities sometimes when he speaks English, but when he speaks Korean, he always refers to him as Kai Hyung (Older Brother Kai). Before they started working together as members of Super M, Mark called him Kai Sunbaenim (Kai Senior). Korean society is really strict about these age related formalities.

The founder of SM Entertainment is Lee Soo Man... that's where the SM comes from. I'm sure SuperM in part is a play on the SM. And I wouldn't be surprised if Mr Lee is pleased to share his initials with SuperM too since this group in particular is his baby... he had VERY high hopes they'd be the ones to crack the western market wide open for the company... hasn't quite turned out that way, unfortunately. BUT, it was recently announced that there's going to be a survival/competition show in the US produced by Mark Burnett (guy who practically invented survival/competition shows, ie Survivor, the Apprentice) to find members for a new unit (currently named NCT Hollywood, SO cringey!)... so it might actually be NCT who finally gets him his American audience at large that he's been wanting for the last 30 years. Lee Soo Man is pretty much the guy who invented kpop as we know it today, if you didn't know. It was his way of training idols that was adopted by everyone else and is still used. Say what you will about the company, but LSM and SM are the BEST at finding and training talent.

Taeyong loves his Baek hyung so much. He always talks about how amazing of a singer Baekhyun is and how he learns a lot from him and besides they get well a lot and both of them loves gaming, while Baek always want to take care and support Taeyong 🥰🥰🥰 Kai and Mark are the sweetest duo they both are so adorable with humble personalities. They have such a great bromance. Lucas and Ten are being so playful around their Taemin hyung while Taemin just adoring and being a good hyung. This is really heart warming.❤️

You should watch kai and taemin bff videos they huge all the time. Kai also had to be comforted by taemin when shinee won an award kai started crying and taemin went over to him and they huged.

@4:00 I think they still use honorifics w/ each other like hyung but Kai is very open and warm in general. He once shared the story of when he and Taemin first met where he asked Taemin if he could drop the hyung since they are very close in age (July '93 and Jan '94) but Taemin said no 🤣. He insisted on speaking informally though and they eventually became best friends.

Poor Taeyong was nervous but kept at it. Mark and Kai took it seriously, and Tae-Ten and Lucas are just a bunch of goofballs. I had to laugh at 14:27 because we all know darn well that Taemin can do those moves a lot better. He's being his sweet self instead of his performance self. The comment about good perfumer -- I know that people who make perfumes must be very creative and understand how the parts blend together to become the whole. They use honorifics when they talk to someone older, like, I'm sure you've listened when they call each other, they say the name and add "hyung"(for males), this literally means "older brother", Mark is younger than Kai that's why he says Kai Hyung and talks formally to him. I know other people have already explained the concept of respect and honourifics in Korea, but I'll add to that just a bit. I'm also from an Asian country with the same concept of respect within elder family members, seniors in academic/professional contexts, honorific language, etc. and I'd say it really depends on one's upbringing and the subculture they grew in. In my language we say didi and bhaiya to refer to any woman or man (respectively) elder than us and for someone from a traditional family they'd see it as rude if you don't adhere to proper honorific language. However, I'm from a more liberal family and I'd be sorta weirded out if a kid even 4 years younger than me tried to address me as didi because it's very formal to the point of comedy. With things like respect and language in collectivist countries, I don't think there's any hard and fast rules. There's different amounts of flexibility in different countries (in my country of India there's a huge disparity; some people use very formal language and some people don't as much and both are acceptable to different degrees in different areas but in countries like Japan I know that flouting respect rules will be seen as really rude or ignorant so very little flexibility there). Overall I'd say it depends on the individual relationships that people tend to foster - for example Mark allows Chenle to speak to him fully informally, no honourifics at all, but all the other members of Dream still call Mark hyung.
