As Superman and Lois goes back on hiatus until the end of July I decide to discuss why I feel this show is so well made. It feels like we have gone back in time to when a show's first priority was to entertain its audience!!

Whoever is in charge and doing all this, is amazing at keeping the issues away. Maybe it's the reason for the brief hiatus? I like the way they deal with Superman rescuing Lois; we see that she gets into danger because she is brave and inquisitive, not because she is weak. What comes across really well in this series is how her bravery is partly because of her absolute faith in Superman to protect her.
@hamizanyunos1502
@hamizanyunos1502 2 года назад
Lois has always been brave and inquisitive, she often always suspicious of Luthor and often times go about her way to expose him for his crimes. This in my opinion is real bravery, she despite having no powers is willing to go against powerful people for the greater good if she existed in the real world, she would be very confrontational against politicians, billionaire CEOs and all other powerful people. If she treated as damsel in distress sometimes? Yeah unfortunately but in the context of Metropolis where they are super powerful supervillains running lose it is hard to blame her, put Jimmy Olsen in the same place and it is the same effect.

Superman & Lois is BRILLIANT. Just caught up with it yesterday, and each episode has me fully engaged, and even emotionally invested. great writing, great performances. Just when you think they’re going to go down the typical ‘bad father tropes’, they do something unexpected which elevates the father figure, it’s a real emotional rollercoaster, especially the bit with Lois’ memory of losing her baby is brought on by the alternative world daughter she had and nearly losing on of her boys and her going through it was very effective.

The main reason the Irons's "race politics" line worked was because it did NOT call the AUDIENCE "racist", it rightly called the SYSTEM "racist". Most "bad" shows try to guilt the audience to change. Amazing isn't it? I feel like I'm watching a show from the pre-internet Era where they did entertaining shows, not political or whatever. Maybe later when the show gets big, they'll try to mess it up to get views out. Which of that's the case, maybe having the show go on hiatus every so often is SAVING the show from being noticed too much by CW executives and they can focus on entertaining storytelling rather than political or woke messaging. Sure it hurts audiences but true fans will come back and I'm sure they will appreciate all of them.

Superman & Lois does right what all of the other CW shows do wrong. They do not sacrifice the main character in favor of the ego of his wife, which is what was the downfall of The Flash.

I NEVER thought in a million Years I'd be a Fan of a CW show AZ!!! But this is written and done so well! I'm LOVING it! I Love The John Irons story line! I was honestly nervous when they revealed him originally to be Luthor. and i thought the whole emotional thing with the kids was going to be a disaster! But Im so happy They DID NOT make Jordan a Victim! and how hes ACTUALLY struggling learning about his powers instead of how they usually do it, and have them full controlled in 1 episode. That whole relationship between the brothers, i think is one of the best written in the show! They are JUST Trying to tell a good Story. And Tyler is a GREAT Superman, and Lois is a badass in her own right! And the Family dynamics are amazing! If it wasnt for HBO being involved i dont think it would have turned out nearly as good, and im so glad they were!

It's really is well written, directed, and acted. Sometimes I'm afraid it will go off the rails with certain themes trying to check social check boxes, but it comes right back where it should be. This is the best written TV show in maybe a decade. Considering the identity politics going on in Hollywood, I can't believe this show is even possible. This is proper escapism!
@psychonaut5921
@psychonaut5921 2 года назад
I agree. It isn't 100% devoid of some woeness, but it usually dodges the regular traps. There was an episode that made a (too) great deal of Martha Kent and her role in creating Superman, etc. That made me cringe a bit, but I later read that the episode's writer was fired over "creative differences" that had something to do with politics. I like that they respect the Superman character and give him a fair number of things to do. They even had him fighting ordinary bank robbers, instead of some super creature(whatever) which is quite refreshing and something you rarely see in superhero shows these days.

I started watching the show when it came out, and after E03 I said "Nope. Not another 'angsty teen' show. This is not for me". A cuple of days ago, when it ended, I decided to give it another chance, and ended up watching the full season in 2 days. It is really good, and all the characters act almost like regular people in their relationships. They don't keep secrets for the sake of creating tension in the show, they don't overreact (or at least that doesn't last long when it happens).

I'm having a BLAST watching Superman and Lois. Great writing, good acting and special effects. The story is really just a very good analysis on have Superman juggles Superhero demands with Superdad/husband demands. Really a great no nonsense sensible and hands it over to the audience to put themselves in each characters position as to how the audience may deal with things. I really love this show and I hope, really hope that this isn't just an experiment by CW to hook folk in and cook them slowly by heating up the water slowly. There is a good antagonist, and yeah of course there are things that you can poke holes in (like how Superman's first suit made by his mom could be fire invulnerable from being burnt off of Superman). There's some quality chuckles in random places which is excellent and overall I can't get enough of this show. There's a lot of arc twists and plot changes that could happen - it's really worth everyone that has ever liked Superman the story to catch up and get into this show.

My biggest problem with the show is Jordan's "Social Anxiety", He never even once acted like he has Anxiety Disorder. Dude even made the first move to kiss a girl. Let me tell you, with actual anxiety disorder it's brutal to talk to anyone outside your close circle, let alone a girl... It just downplays the issue a lot. But it's ok, it's hollywood.

I like when they play up the problems Jordan's powers can cause and that John and Lois get to be strong anchors for their super powered counterparts. There were so many avenues that could have gone wrong with Lana's husband, where I was concerned they were gonna make him this simple idiot who needs to be taught a lesson or some kind of MAGA allegory, but the dude is just concerned about his town and his community, and the wrong thibgs he does are all coming from that concern. Add to that the sort of feeling of inadequacy that comes from seeing everyone around you doing more with themselves and the notion that you could have done something else with your life being one of the things that drives him - that makes him really relatable. I mean, who doesn't want jobs created in their town? Plus, he's the firefighter chief - truly bad people don't become firefighters.

Lana's husband reminds me a lot about the "forgotten America" that Hillary called deplorable - blue collar, manual or semi manual workers, watching their jobs outsourced, seeing their town and community disappear, wanting a lifeline to work themselves out not for a handout. If they turned him into some racist loathing caricature, I would have turned that off in disgust but, seeing his frustrations within his family and with his wife, it's very relatable to a lot of people and I see people in families I know act like that.
