Due to the success of the show, Filmation produced a Methamorpho pilot and planned pilots for Plastic Man and Wonder Woman. A DC Comics cartoon was also being developed, with concept drawings featuring Methamorpho, Plastic Man, The Flash, The Blackhawks, the Doom Patrol, B'wana Beast, and the Metal Men. Plans were cancelled when CBS secured the animation rights to Batman in the wake of ABC's recent success with the Batman live-action TV series.
I absolutely love the Filmation "Superman" cartoons and the segments the company produced on "Green Lantern", "The Atom", "Flash", "The Justice League", and "Aquaman". I'm not that big of a fan of the "Teen Titans" cartoons and while the "Hawkman" cartoons are good, in their own kind of way, they're not favorites of mine. I loved the "Batman" series the company did in the late 1960s as well. I never understood the Hawkman character nor did the character, as far as I know, have a large gallery of super villains or anything like that. I liked the Hanna-Barbera "Super Friends" series of cartoons as well.
Actually, that was Ted Knight, who was doing quite a lot of voiceover work in radio in the L.A. area...he was a close associate of radio personality Norm Prescott, co-executive producer of Filmation
@@dannybuck5911Yes, Ted did voices on several Filmation series; such as “The Batman-Superman Hour”, “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, “Fantastic Voyage’, “Lassie’s Rescue Rangers”.
The Superman cartoons of the 60's, along with the Superboy cartoons are okay, but the Aquaman cartoons, along with the "guest superhero" segments aren't that great. Aquaman's fins on his green pants were subbed with black boots, and, in addition to his underwear telepathy, Here's "hard water" power was adapted, leaving Equaled and Mera, who wasn't Aquaman's wife, in the cartoons, but billed as the "Atlantean Girl", powerless. Also, the top of the Atom's costume was all blue, minus the red triangle, the Flash aquifer good gloves, and a belt, with a lightning bolt buckle, and the colors of Kid-Flash's costume were reversed, Hawkman used a chemo-claw, and replaced Hawkgirl with Skreel, a hawk sidekick, and Green Lantern's sidekick, Pieface, was replaced by a venusian, named Kyro. Forget about those Aquaman Nd guest superhero cartoons, and read DC Omnibuses or watch Super Friends on DVD!
