Clark Kent tries several designs for his Superman suit, with the help of Martha Kent, before deciding on the classic design. Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993-1997) www.flickr.com/photos/1025379...
Yet at the same time nobody in the world of the story has any reason to think Superman has a day job let alone be the guy they’re talking to by the water cooler.
The Kents should always be alive and present in Clark's life and career. Not only does it give Clark someone he can REALLY be himself around without the need for either disguise, but once other characters meet them they instantly understand why Clark is who he is and what he does.
Oh yes, I remember this episode! It was more of a nod to George Reeves Superman than Christopher Reeve's Superman. What I loved about this show was the Kents being alive and in Clark's love and the lady who played Martha was one of the favorites about this show, especially this first episode where she makes his costume Clark: What do you think? Martha: Well one thing's for sure they won't looking at your face Clark: Mom! Martha: Well they don't call it tights for nothing! Lol, that was the same sense of humor as my late mother. I truly miss this show
@@reyesjohannchrissebastianc651 Eh. Supes will just catch the plane and bring them all to safety. Sure they may get a few bumps and bruises, and the airline may be out a few hundred million dollars in aircraft, but you have to make sacrifices for fashion.
@@PeterParker-yo6gu lmfao what copy right would they try to be avoiding? 0:28 is not Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it’s Green Lanterns eye cover. And I have no clue why he said Peter Pan. That’s Disney not a comic book super hero.
When Clark’s mom brings out the crest the look on her face is so heartwarming. 2:02. It brings tears to my eyes. I wish I had a relationship with my mom like that.
With the greatest respect to you, Dean Cain is indeed a fine actor, but he's no way near Christopher Reeve. Dean Cain simply didn't have 'that look' Chris had ! Only Chris pulled it off, no other actor.
@Graeme McFee Yes, he certainly had the uncanny likeness to the comic facially , something that Cain and all the others simply didn't have. That alone makes Chris the best, plus his wonderful performance.
My favorite is Christopher Reeve and Dean Cain. I met Dean and he is just one of the sweetest guys out there. He loves the supermerman fans and the love him I think it's cool he's biracial. What I love about Superman is he showed us it's ok to be different. And every actor who played Superman has brought a different flavor to the character
I love this Martha Kent and this scene generally.. she's one of the few examples of very strong housewives ever on TV. Multiple skills. Her pride in her adopted son explains why Superman was always special and good at his core. He had a good background. She's being optimistic about the glasses, though... I think what really keeps Superman /Clark Kent's identities secret is human nature, our basic blindness and prejudices. The way they portray Lois Lane's prejudices concerning a farm boy from Kansas is a perfect example of what I mean. Dean Cain plays a wonderful, humane Superman, nothing moody about him. Oh and in contrast there is a scene in the next episode (or the third one?) Lex Luther is choosing the fabric for his suits.. he asks his tailor for one suit in each of the styles he chose ... in two days. Emphasizes that Superman comes out of the shadows of the middle class, He's an American hero of the people... and the villain comes out of the wealthiest rich class.
Man, being a teenage kid during the 90's was one of the happiest times of my life. Watching superman tv series with my siblings and family with just how funny and heartfelt this tv show was..man, this brings lots of sweet memories ❤️❤️❤️
I want to see Dean Cain reprising his role as The Man Of Steel from the Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman television series, seeing Dean Cain's Superman entering Earth-38 from an dimensional portal in the Arrowverse's Crisis On Infinite Earths event. I want see the reaction on Kara, Alex and Eliza Danvers's faces in confusion of seeing Dean Cain's Superman thinking it's Jeremiah Danvers wearing a Superman Suit. But they will have a mistaken identity because it's not Jeremiah, it's another Superman from another alternate universe.
Yeah well Woke WB would never hire Dean Cain back after he blasted all the wokesters. After all WB are a bunch of woke a holics. They probably have him on a black list bc he is Republican
@@omarcogle1965 It should be Earth-78 not Earth-84 because the Supergirl 1984 film is canon with the four Christopher Reeve's Superman films and Earth-78 is a reference of the year 1978 where the first Christopher Reeve's Superman film debuted in theatres.
@@jamesthong2508 That actually does make sense. But you know what was confusing about Crisis? Brandon's Superman is Chris's Superman right, and Superman Returns negates III and IV, so how would his Superman reference Evil Superman if technically he never did?
They should do an old man Superman film picking up from this franchise. It would be badass going over this version of Superman history since the end of his show, his legacy, family & overall effect on humanity.
From what I recall reading, the costume in the pilot was made by a company who designed costumes for dancers, and it didn’t stand up to the wear-and-tear of Dean Cain running around. (There was some issue with the cape as well, but I can’t remember what exactly.)
Anyone who knows the history of Superman knows that Martha Kent played a huge important role in the creation of the suit and to actually see her with Clark going through all the designs to find the right one that will fit his hero persona is the most heartwarming moment ever with some great humour thrown in. I have always enjoyed the idea of the Kents kept alive especially Jonathan so they can actually see their son grow up to become the iconic heroic figure that the whole world will come to know. Such a beautiful and fun scene
Yeah it’s actually early comics accurate. I was a teenager when this show came out, and I had mixed feelings about it, mainly because I grew up more with the Christopher Reeve films in the 80s. But I’ve learned to accept that all these fictional heroes can have many different interpretations. The Earth suit made by Clark’s mom may not be as cool as the suit coming from Krypton, but it is old school comics accurate, the S symbol coming from Jor-El and the ship is the one thing from the Richard Donner/Christopher Reeve movie that has stuck.
In the original, it was a strong man outfit... it fit the time period... But very quickly, once strong men were forgotten, it became a goofy outfit... and the explanation for it in this series is that Clark is just a good kid... even as an adult, he's a good boy... And honestly, as I grow older, I actually appreciate that more and more...
the final suit design was perfect. mind you over the years the superman suit had changed in the film the man of steel the new superman suit does not have the red pants and yellow belt. but at least we know what the S stands for on Kal-El home world of Krypton is means hope"
There is one costume in the series and it's green with a yellow circle and a blue hat... I swear that comes from the superhero comics of the 1950s but I can't give you a name.
Look i know that Dean Cain isn't so well liked by many, but i genuenly think this iteration of the character is very underrated and overlooked. It defenetly feel like Clark and i love his costume, it might be a cheap 90s tv costume but at the same time feels like something that his mom made for him.
My question for this particular version of Superman (actually, my favorite). Why the glasses in the first place. As Clark, he wore glasses at the start of the series, before he was Superman. His eyesight was perfect and he didn't have an identity to hide - why the glasses?
Definitely to blend in with others. If he took off the glasses, styled his hair like Superman, and wore more form-fitting outfits people will probably notice more of the strange events happening around them and link it to him
Because Superman was created in the late 1930s, and for the previous two decades circus strongmen were seen as the epitome of masculinity. Siegel and shuster included the red trunks as a nod to those men since Superman is supposed to be very masculine.
This is actually my favorite Superman suit. I like this blue better than the pale blue of Reeve or the dark blue of Cavill. The cape was the perfect length. I also thought this S was perfect. I hate that in all subsequent episodes they replaced it with that oversized monstrosity.
@@ScreenBlaster13yup, and I found out it was Marlon Brando who suggested that Kryptonians wear the symbol of their Houses on their chests. He may have been a huge pain in the rear to work with by then, but you can't deny he unknowingly made a huge contribution to the Superman mythos with that one suggestion.
By far the most charismatic superman there is, and this is absolutely the best song that fits this incredible scene. Dean Cain and the writers for the show put Zack Snyder's lame ass to shame.
This is not a complaint in any way. But, ever since I learned that Dean Cain is half Japanese, I can't unsee it. It doesn't take anything away from his turn as Superman. I just didn't notice until I was told, and now it's obvious.
