@@RamenBlox I honestly read that as you taking a dump and kryptonite came out, which honestly given how there's so much fucking kryptonite in DC, I'd believe it.
What a lot of folk, Joker included, forget is that he was proven wrong in the Killing Joke. He was trying tae drive Gordon insane. He failed. Gordon flat out ordered Batman tae bring Joker in without killing him.
No, he wasn't. He was just making time to find all the other bombs across the city. But from the beginning, he took Joker's menace seriously, and decided to play on the mad clown's terms in order to win.

"Being Superman doesn't mean I'm *greater* than anyone. But it does mean I'm *better* than *you* ." Man, it's refreshing to see a writer who really gets Superman. 'I stand for something - a better future, where nobody needs a Superman. What do *you* stand for?'
What people don't notice is that in front of the Joker, he acts like the man is no threat, and idiot and laughs. But the moment the Joker isn't in front of him, Superman acknowledges what kind of threat Joker actually is... So Superman didn't actually think that Joker was a joke, but instead realized that the best way to stop the man was to instead ruin his fun. By doing that, Joker no longer had any interest in going to Metropolis... As Superman stated, you shouldn't indulge the Joker...
This is a perfectly written Superman. He’s like that dude who can fight but is a constant diffuser. But push too far and he’s the scariest character in comics.
It’s not really a perfectly written Superman. He’s written like how a fanboy would write him. Like a regular guy who seems completely capable of snapping and murdering people if he has a bad day. This comic would completely validate Batman’s fear and distrust of Superman and his power.
@@Random1567 Joker in any interpretation is a mass murderer. In long running interpretations he has repeatedly shown that penal institutions cannot hold him and he has no intention of reforming, immediately going back to inciting fear and death among civilians as soon as he was able. Frankly by this point Joker is less a test of a hero's restraint then he is an example of the perils of not taking decisive action when needed. This Superman is showing awareness of this and has basically put the hard line of 'you have had one chance with me, I am not going to give you another if you decide to threaten those I protect again'. Frankly the whole superman vs batman dynamic has always felt poorly written to their characters to me but if I was to judge this scenario I would say it was batman who earned fear and distrust not Superman.
"B-b-but Superman is boring!" Dude grew up knowing he had the ability to do literally anything with his powers and chose to help people instead of becoming a villain. Being a morally upstanding person isn't boring, especially in a world with so much cruelty. Dark and brooding is boring, bring back hope and optimism.
So true. That is why I think Superman is one of the superheroes that people only appreciate when they get a bit older. Or at least I did. The idea that someone with all that power chooses to ALWAYS do good, to remain hopeful despite the hopelessness of the world…you that realize that IS the subversion, and, more than that, is deeply inspirational.
@@m0ther_bra1ned12 superman was first made like 100 years ago. You can't compare the very first god-like syperhero to one made in the last decade, the landscape of the genre and comic culture is completely different now.
I love how for the majority of the comic, Supes treated Joker like, well, a joke. But in the very last few panels you find out that internally, he took him VERY seriously. I love that sort of writing
I think that's just how Superman is, he takes every villain seriously, even if he doesn't show it on the surface, or if he realistically has no reason too.
@@Prince_Luci it makes me wonder if batman has some type of hubris thinking he is actually in control of very much.. like.. superman who is all powerful has the humility to know anything could happen and even though superman has some of the most power he doesn't act like he is completely in control and it even bothers him other ppl dont understand this but then batman has the nerve and naive audacity to tell an all powerful guy that he has it under control.. like if it bothers superman of all people what kind of self centered douche would act like they know better? batman lol

When it comes to dealing with Batman? Yeah, Superman has learned to be cold with him. If Batman is going to play his games, Superman will drop the "boy scout" and remind him of his mortality. Because unlike Bruce, Superman doesn't have a code or a promise holding him back, just a choice. After all, that's what they are here for with one another: to remind one another that they are not invincible and keep the other in check. Batman was leaving his check by letting Joker run wild in Superman's city, so Superman put him back in check by reminding him that only HE cares about the Joker, not Superman.
Jesus Christ. “Any writer could write you, any actor could play play you. All they need to do is is make up their own version and people will applaud them. But NO ONE will ever applaud YOU” that is by far the most brutal dissection of the Jokers entire being that I’ve ever heard and it is from Superman, and not even from Injustice.
@@BlueTyphoon2017 That’s the point. Iterations of the Joker in film and comic are amazing characters. But if the Joker were real and did all the awful things he had done, he would be an irredeemable monster.
and it's not the joker thematically that ppl really enjoy, it's elements of the joker that individual writers give him. by himself the joker is just a two-bit clown villain, it's his multiple iterations that make him so well-regarded. compare to spiderman, who just on his face thematically as a character is unique and worthy of praise, and that's not bc 'oh xyz's parker run was great' or 'tobey maguire played such a great spiderman' it's bc the themes of spiderman themself were really cool and each portrayal is just an adaptation of those themes
@@spkoftdvl it's a matter of popularity. As joker says superman is vague. This is a throwback to fans not wsnting superman but he's vague. but such great power can come with deep character if the writers use their head.

The entire idea that "kindness" and "niceness" are not the same thing needs to be explored more. I have had people give me great kindness while calling me every name under the sun, and others be bastions of niceness while hurting me casually.
It's so good. Nice is a formality, it keeps you out of trouble. Nice makes bland small talk. Kind is an affair of the heart. Kind starts a conversation asking how your sister is handling chemotherapy, when you only mentioned it once in passing.
Superman: "I don't have a code. I just don't generally kill people." The "monsters" that Superman fights. Yeah, nobody, not even the law, is going to argue with HIM if it comes to that.
Exactly. And they are monsters from Darkseid to Doomsday but hey he believes in goodness. People don't seem to care when a certain space monkey with an orange gi and black hair spares people for believing in goodness.
@@TheUnseenPath Missing the point. Superman is saying he just GENERALLY doesn't kill people. GENERAL-ly is funny because he's killed Zod a few times (multiverses and things, and the best joke in the story if you read it like that). He's THREATENING to make an exception and kill the Joker. Not throw him a magic bean and let him try again. I love both Superman and Goku for the record.
"Batman has a no-kill rule" "I'm not Batman" the fact that Superman throws Batman's ideologies back at Joker just to tell him "I could kill you if I wanted to" is genius. sure to rattle someone who's so confident that the hero won't just outright kill him
I think there's one crossover comic when the Joker meets the Punisher. Joker assumed Punisher would send him to jail like Batman always does. Once Joker realized just who he was dealing with, he basically shat himself
Honestly, stuff like this is why Superman is one of my favourite heroes. Some people call him boring or a "goody too shoes" but I've always just seen him as a pretty cool and nice dude. The kind of guy you could just go out for a few drinks with and it it would be a chill time.
Superman considering Batman a friend and ally is just as crazy and has no real logic to hold on either But it is as Batman once said, he's just a man, and Superman and other heroes can easily kill him if they wanted to as well. They have the ability. Sups just reminded him of that fact with the Joker. "If you cross the line, I won't hesitate to kill you. Just as you would do the same to me." (It may hurt him, but he'd do it)
@@girl1213 Why can't Superman consider him a friend? He grew up in Kansas and are friends with so many regular humans like Jimmy Olsen and Perry White. Batman is also allied with Oracle/Barbara even though she can no longer fight due to her disability.
@@girl1213 Superman and Batman usually get along just fine afaik. Batman made a huge gamble here that Superman wouldn’t tolerate, but that doesn’t make them enemies, and even at the end of the comic he wasn’t threatening to kill Batman, he was threatening to put down the Joker. @@TheWorkersNewspaper1994 It's often brought up concerning the darker side of the Dark Knight JLA: Tower of Babel is one of the prime stories talking about Batman's dangerous ability to use his brain against them. And the Injustice League series shows the two of them on different sides of the conflict. There's a lot of examples that prove Bruce has a darkness within him that Superman doesn't (normally) have. And don't forget All-Star Batman (The "God-Damn Batman") These are all true realities of the characters and how easily it could have been. It's not just a one-off. It's a hard truth. Even the mainstream Batman and Superman can admit they have clashes and fights and disagreements that have led them fist-fighting one another.
I think the recent shows (superman and Lois + the new animated one) have captured it. Hopefully gunn does superman justice because man im sick of the "what if he was EVIL" or the "he's alien Jesus!" angles.
God I love how the illustrator is able to make Superman look pretty friendly or generally unintimidating, not even looking super buff or anything, to making him look insanely terrifying with shading around the face. Being able to see Clark's eyes almost acts as the visual way of humanizing him. Even during the part where he tells Joker he's better than him, frowning and all he still looks more like just an upset father. But as soon as you look over, his eyes being obscured by his prepping his laser vision makes him incredibly terrifying.
Its JOCK who did the Brilliant art here (foolishly not visually noted anywhere). > Check out his DETECTIVE COMICS _Black Mirror_ story. Its an Easy Batman TOP 10 #MustRead story! _Jock,_ also just recently drew & wrote _A ONE DARK KNIGHT_ Batman one-off story, via DC BLACK LABEL (A magazine sized 140pg graphic novel). I had herd it was good.
A nice little reminder of why the Injustice universe is just that: an alternate universe. 99 times out of 100, Joker will fail at threatening or corrupting Superman. Not only because Clark is genuinely smart and clever enough to not fall for the Joker’s crap, but also because Superman acknowledges that 1 in 100 chance exists. This is why he shows up at the bat cave later on to lecture Batman. Bruce of all people should have known that setting up social experiments involving the Joker is playing with fire and that he should have known better.
Then again, I think why Joker succeeded in the Injustice verse is that with Luthor being an actual good guy in there, there was nobody willing to psychologically push Superman until he snapped.
i like the idea of the joker always winning against batman but being out of his comfort zone with superman....however joker could very easily break him if he knew enough about him which makes it a fun dynamic of "keep him in your city, you have nothing to lose"
injustice superman wasn't exactly a boy scout when he was growing up either, he was slightly twisted from the start, hence why he was corruptible in the first place
@@A-Microwave yep , Injustice Superman wasn't really a boy scout , there are plenty things that changed in the very origins of multiple heroes in Injustice Universe.

Great line by Superman, about how only a child would take a clown seriously. Bruce is still that traumatized child in an alley. That’s why he indulges his antics. This is a great little story. Also the hot topic joke is pretty meta considering they sell a crap ton of superhero licensed merch.
So glad Superman pimp slapped Batman across the room. Batman’s needed that for a long time now. The writers actually showed Superman some respect this time.
@@Joe-xo4yg He did only that, literally on the next panel we see Batman still standing on the same spot while Supes moves away from the Batwreck towards him...
Superman also "does not kill" - humans especially - even without an explicitly formulated rule. He just won't allow a psychotic mass murderer to feel safe in his presence or (worse) take any form of pleasure out of interacting with him, which, in turn, is precisely the reason why Batman and Joker exist in such perfect symbiosis. They are the living embodiments of order and chaos and, in all honesty, they both have a fetish for proving their points. Clark simply breaks that cycle.
This actually what I've been waiting for, for a long time: someone to TRULY humiliate the Joker and unmask him as the embarassing edgelord he truly is.
I like how Superman easily defeated the Joker without compromising who he is and what he stands for. I also like how Superman expressed his anger at Batman for letting the Joker go to Metropolis as part of a test for Superman. Superman may be a good guy, but that doesn't mean he can't get angry at lives being put at risk.
I understand why he's mad, bat's really shouldn't be doing shit like that but bitch slapping him is pretty uncalled for and just unwise when he's literally one of like 5 people that can regularly lay soups out
After reading Death in/of the Family, the Killing Joke, and “The Fall” story from Arkham Knight. Hearing a symbol of Truth, Justice, and Hope tell this narcissistic mass murdering bastard that he ain’t shit is really satisfying.
"I don't have a code. I just generally don't kill people." I love that line. It's not even Superman saying that it's right to kill or that he likes doing it. But Superman believes that his powers give him certain responsibilities. It would be unethical for Superman to turn some mugger's head into paste, because of the hilarious power discrepancy between the two. Even here, he doesn't immediately kill Joker but plays along with his game for a little bit, because he doesn't HAVE to kill Joker to stop him. But if a villain is going to hurt thousands of people unless he's stopped immediately? Superman's responsibility is to protect people, not criminals. He'll do what he has to.
yeah ultimately the rigidity of "it's never okay to kill one being to save many" is flawed - superman is powerful enough that he *usually* doesn't have to kill anyone but would if the good outweighed the bad. And if it leaves some sort of 'moral stain' or feelings of guilt on a person that's a burden he's also willing to take.
Superman: Actually scares the Joker into never coming back to Metropolis by threatening to kill him. Batman: "wELl yoU SEe, YoU FAileD thE tESt becAuse You cOMpromiSed-" Superman: Bitch slap "Who asked?"
"compromised what? i never said i had a code. i just don't do it cause i don't think i should. Until I do. Because it'd be easy. Easier than it would be for you, anyway." Batman: *scowls*
I find it outright funny that super man is meant to be better than the dark scary Batman but in reality their moral code when pushed I’d drastically different cus to Batman what happened to super man in injustice is just his daily life when his loved ones get hurt
@@Solo_man69 Tyler from Imaginary Axis convinced me that Batman NEEDS a code because he IS insane. In having a code on a piece of paper, written of lines he thinks he shouldn't cross, is helpful for himself. Insanity isn't a psychological term, it's a legal term with legal definitions; a person who is insane are those who can not differentiate right from wrong and wrong from right. Superman isn't immoral for not having a code like Batman, Kal-El knows right from wrong because he was raised right then Bruce who has many unresolved family issues.
Superman: So it was a test then? Batman: Yes. And you fail--- Superman: No no no no stop. Let's talk about about how you let a potentially dangerous psychopath loose in my city just because you wanted to test me.
For real though, glad I discovered this, these two together and this portrayal of superman is perfect, wonder who the artist is too, phenomenal, the characters don't consistently look the same
With the amount of control Superman has in his abilities he could kill any one of his rogues with ease. They should be thankful that Clark grew up to be kind and not a person with a god complex.
I think that’s definitely just for this story here, most of the time Joker is depicted as an incredibly smart yet vile person who can plan and execute incredibly well. In other stories the Bombs would absolutely not be where his plan begins and ends, in this story the plan is “Get bored, stand on building, taunt superman, blow up city” when any other writer that had a greater understanding of the Joker would add layers upon layers to his plans. The Joker isn’t the Clown Prince of Crime because he’s a funny colourful guy with gas in his sleeve, he’s the Clown Prince of Crime because he has a deep understanding of psychological persuasion and always has a plan D up his sleeve, a Plan D that threatens both Batman and possibly thousands in Gotham City. This comic completely takes away every factor of the Joker that makes him interesting or threatening, this comic feels like the writer wanted Superman to deconstruct Jokers entire character, but the joker that the comic includes was only given a single layer to work with. As cool as the comic might be for someone who likes seeing Superman win seems, I absolutely think it’d be a lot more meaningful if the Joker that Superman won against was given any justice to his incredibly interesting character at all
Superman genuinely got the Joker depressed enough to just surrender... Also Superman didn't slap Batman, he just destroyed the Batmobile. If Superman slapped Batman hard enough to flip the Batmobile, then Batman would have been turned to a splatter...
@@martinjugolin2087except Batman having Kryptonite doesn't make sense If the Krypton fragments are in space it'd take decades or centuries to find just one of them If they however "landed" on earth then a few hundred dino-asteroids would've crashed onto earth and eradicated humanity
Heck, Injustice Joker likely considered being murdered by Superman to be the pinnacle of comedy, getting a good guy to do evil and so on. Here? A good guy is doing good and not fearing him in the slightest
Ngl, i really like this version of Superman and Joker, he doesn't go overboard on him or totally scare him, he just sorta reminds him that Superman can take a nuke. Plus he's Joker, he's taken a lot worse than a graze from eye beams.
I never understood the Joker. He doesn't want people to laugh at his jokes, doesn't want anyone else to make them, and at least once to my knowledge he killed a comedian. His interest in humor is actually extremely narrow- it's like to him, it's just a weapon. Not something to be enjoyed on its own, not something to share, something that's just for him. He's actually pretty depressing...
Considering that, in some versions of his past, Joker was a failed comedian who desperately wanted to make people laugh; as echoed here when he says "You try and you try. You go out there every night and you give them your best stuff ...".; it's pretty weird that he'd get upset that Superman laughed at his jokes. Maybe it's been so long since anyone (other than Harley maybe) has complimented his humor he dosen't know how to react anymore? Maybe because his humor couldn't get real laughs and make people happy, his shattered psyche now gets gratification from using his twisted humor to insult, frighten and unnerve his "audience"? But when Batman laughed at his joke at the conclusion of The Killing Joke, he seemed to enjoy it. Maybe that was because he was genuinely relieved that Batman didn't "beat the crap out of .." him? But again, here he seems almost disappointed Superman didn't get angry enough to want to hurt him. Maybe the writers intentionally use such inconsistency to make him seem more unpredictable? Or maybe they don't care about consistency? Maybe I shouldn't be looking for rhyme & reason in the behavior of a bat-§μ!+ crazy fictional character? 😲
@@ronn-ammon8975 It sure is easier to make people laugh through chemical (Joker Toxin) or forceful means than actually being funny. Imagine telling the Joker that even (insert your least favorite comedian) makes more people genuinely laugh than he ever will.
Batman’s no kill rule and Superman not having one, reminds me a lot of this one Doctor who Quote “Good men don’t need rules, today is not the day to find out why I have so many.”- the 11th Doctor
I'm with superman on this one, this was so callous of Batman and it could have gone terribly wrong. Batman isn't a stranger to having his ideas blow up in his face: see Brother Eye and his contingency plans.
Absolutely loved this take on Superman. I wish the writers did this with him more often. He is such a beast, but the writers always make him such a joke. So this was amazing.
I honestly wanna see a comic that does the same, but with Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor. Imagine Bruce just waltzing into Lex' office, starting a friendly conversation with him, then plopping countless pictures of photo evidence that could actually get him in jail this time, along with threatening to buy out or drive out his company using Wayne industries. It could even finish with a like like "You're trying to fight an alien God, Lex. And yet, you yourself are barely more than just a man." It honestly baffles me that they haven't traded villains once in a while, considering the Joker and Lex are both only effective against their respective hero because of their mind-games and access to kryptonite.
Superman vs the Joker: very dangerous mind games, making sure that the joker ends up not finding anything funmy Batman vs Luthor: put down the laser gun or I'll buy half the company
To be fair, Luthor doesnt really neeeeed the kryptonite, he does often find other ways to match superman, depending on the interpretation. but you are right, Luthor's main defense against superman is hiding behind the law, and would leave himself vulnerable to batmans investigative skills.
Lex and Batman only work as characters when you realize the entire system is corrupt and they both exist because of it. Evidence literally wouldn't matter. Lex would call it a joke, and it would be.
Lex could legit defeat batman, Batmans greatest strength is hes mind but Lex has basically made a living on running through each of Batmans apocalypse plans and actually trying them out in superman. When it comes to combat Batmans superior martial prowess pales in comparison to Lex's arsenal thats meant to fight SUPERMAN of all things on the "legal/detective" side Lex is more than a match to beat batman or bruce in a legal battle (which at this point is about bribing with copious amounts of money)
Superman is 100% correct on the Joker. Joker is the state of mind of someone who has given up, a sad and broken thing. Waking up and deciding to make things worse.
Superman basically reacted the exact opposite way of everything that the batman did. Batman always showed mercy to the joker. He always fell for his mind games and never laughed at his jokes. That's what made batman an entertaining person for the joker. If Joker has no interest in someone like superman and he realizes the situation he is in, then he is easily beaten.
also because joker often you know uses joker gas or creates a situation where if you do nothing people die honestly both joker and batman seem badly written the joker doesnt even seem like the type to use regular old bombs maybe as a way to get batman to play his game with him needing to do a thing otherwise the puppy orphanage explodes and joker doesnt seem like the kind of guy to go after the more light hearted superman joker cant exist without batman so this entire comic seems like bad writing
@@larsthememelord3383 not to mention, the joker is literally ontop of a the DAILY PLANET, and he didn't bother to read a single news article about superman? Like bro he didn't even know he has laser eyes. that's not prep time, that's called not trying.
Superman has no code. He simply is a kind guy, even at villains. But as the old adage said, nobody should push a nice guy beyond limit. Emasculating the Joker of his shtick is the only way to stop him in the end.
At least Joker wasn't crazy enough to seek trouble with either LOBO or Spawn (the later definitely will enjoy killing Joker since Joker are no different from Violators)
In that conversation Joker was actually 100% accurate representation of the more edgy, fanatical side of batman fans. Especially after Supes started frustrating him Now i'm a batfan myself but on average Superman fans tend to be way more chill than my fellows and i respect that xd
Honestly, most Superman fans like Batman, he's a good friend and a good foil to Superman. We just don't like BatGod when he shows up in Batman's place.
" on average Superman fans tend to be way more chill" not really, not even close. Superman fans are overly aggressive just to mock Batman with arguments like "but he is just a HuMaN"
Batman doesn't seem to realize that while Superman isn't QUITE the same level of genius as Batman is, he is still very, VERY intelligent. The irony of their relationship is that Batman constantly underestimates Superman, but Superman NEVER underestimates Batman.
@@AnaMaria_2004 Batman is an absolute joke when it comes to the joker. If he actually wanted to dismantle the joker he could very easily. Imo Joker is a D tier villain who is hyped up for no reason.
It's an interesting way to deal with a God-like character. In a normal confrontation, we already know who's going to win. Unless Joker has the magic rock he doesn't stand a chance. Superman, then, in knowing that he can win no matter what, is free to try and talk to people. To take the nice route, or do something weird. If it goes wrong he can win as easily as a single punch.
I like how Superman acted in this but it seems like they made Batman and joker out of character for this to work. I don’t think Batman would test someone like that and put lives at risk. The best version of superman The kind, wise and lighthearted man whom grew up on a farm But knows how to be cold and have a backbone because he experienced city life
The assumption that Supes *didn't* disarm all those bombs (and disable the detonator to boot) at super-speed off panel before chucking them to Giggles the Murder Clown is a silly one. Clark is being written smart here. He wasn't leaving anything to chance, and that includes letting the loon blow himself up. Doesn't mean he had to tell Joker that. Letting him still think he had the option to go boom? Priceless. In the words of Slappy Squirrel (an infinitely better comedian than Joker), now that's comedy.
This was great to see. I've never seen Superman done in a way that honours the spirit of the character and yet makes him so damn cold. I wanna see this version of superman in a film.
Smart as well as powerful. Kind, not naive or gullible, having not only a wide range of abilities but also knowledge and strategy, restrained not because of fear of going out of control but because he's in complete control. This superman might not be edgy, but he's the epitome of someone u don't wanna mess with. And yes, if a writer wants batman to win against this superman, bats is gonna need some serious plot armor.
In truth, the only way Batman would win against any of the "super" heroes is with plot armor. As Thor once said to Iron Man after he thoroughly stomped him in one of the comic series in recent years he needed to learn the difference "...between a god of thunder and a mortal man in a metal suit." The same situation exists with Batman. It's one of the reasons I despise what's been done to Batman, the character, and find all this "Batman vs. Superman" dick measuring and arguing so laughable. If the writers hadn't decided to try and turn a mortal man who represented the pinnacle of human achievement into a godlike being who could intimidate other beings that possessed powers that were orders of magnitude beyond his just "because Batman," none of it would have been necessary. Without plot armor giving him the almighty prep time or making the others he deals with into spineless weaklings who let him go because he's human and they're not and so they put up with his abuse and arrogance, he's nothing but a splatter on the ground. That's sad, and a disservice to a character with a history like his.
Honestly, this was great up until the part where it turned out to be a plan by Batman. These two should almost be like brothers, and Batman would never put the lives of innocents at risk like that. The stuff with Superman and Joker is great, if a bit on the nose, I think it's fair to point out that Superman doesn't kill, not as some rigid rule, but because he quite literally doesn't need to kill, if he did it would be excessive force 90% of the time, since he's so powerful, he can even take most super powered people in with little to no resistance. Joker and Superman reminds me of Batman Beyond fighting resurrected Joker, when Terry said- "Batman never talked to you much did he? That's probably why you were so fixated on him. I don't need a degree to figure you out. The real reason you kept coming back was because you never got a laugh out of the old man. Get a clue clowny, he's got no sense of humor. He wouldn't know a good joke if it bit him in the cape, not that you ever had a good joke. You make me laugh, but only because I think you're kind of pathetic."
What's funny is the other time the Joker he went to metropolis (Superman animated) he kidnapped Lois Lane, and then he went back again, this time tricking supes into ending her (Injustice). So he's dangerous.
We can assume that, like always, Batman was confident in his plan 100% that no civilian casualties would happen because, well, reasons. Also probably wasn't an exact plan, like the Joker got told by Batman to go fuck with Supes. Probably just figured he would sit and see what Supes would do in that situation. I guess anyway I don't know this comics connections let alone the fucking name since these comicbook youtubers never put the name in an easy to see spot, if at all.
@@colbyboucher6391 I could see that, but it doesn't really match the spirit of Batman at the end, which by your view would be the point. In my eyes though, it's very distracting since I've always seen Batman and Superman as being...for the lack of a better word, "better" than that. Since when it comes to what actually matters, they're a lot more similar than they are different from each other.
@@lostlambv2939 yeah i know but this is a more accurate interaction between the two. Besides in recent comics injustice superman is currently interacting with supermans son so anything goes in comics and universes always collide
@@jasonhearn5818 I mean, having your wife, your unborn child and your entire city vapourized by a madman who wanted attention would make anyone an emotional wreck. Remember, Frank Castle decided to just kill every criminal ever because someone completely unrelated murdered his wife and child. Imagine if they nuked NY.
emotionally reckless doesn't sound quite right though. I mean anybody that basically got acid tripped into killing their own pregnant wife, and also most of the city he calls home, is gonna result in some severe mental damage. The flaw was that AFTER the big initial event instead of supes grieving properly and eventually carrying on he just went straight up Professor Pyg "I'm gonna make you perfect whether you like it or not" evil.
Why did Bats say Supes failed? "You compromised your..." What did he compromise? He played the Joker better than Bats ever could. "I dont have a code. I just generally don't kill people.", is a stroke of genius! Pretty sure the only thing compromised was Batman's jaw.
Yeah, that was a case of poor writing of Batman. The idea Batman would set this up in and of itself doesn't track to me. Him not knowing in time I could buy, plenty of other things that might have him busy (Rash-al-ghoul dragging him across the planet comes to mind.) to the point that Joker has the time for this. Knowing that Bruce has such a massive 'no killing' thing, most of the scene could have been kept intact, with Superman's warning being a case of 'I know this would upset you, but you need to understand I won't play with Joker coming to my town.' instead of this. Story needed one more minor editing pass and it'd be a 10/10.
@@Sorain1 Yeah but this is the kind of shit Batman pulls everytime with the Justice league. and he never or rarely apologies he always think he is right to do that kind of things and that he has everything under control. He once almost cause the death of entire justice league with one of his stunts. It's still extreme here with the Joker but it's not out of character.
Nah I Superman didn’t kill the Joker because he had NO need to. He beat Joker at his own game before the Joker could even start. As he said “You don’t entertain someone of his caliber”That’s why Joker said Metropolis is boring and Supe said he’d kill him if he ever came back because it was seconds from being a disaster.
For once it’s usually joker toying with Superman and outsmarting him and beating superman mentally. They always treat superman like he’s such an easy hero to fight compared to Batman even though we know that’s not true
That bit about the code is important. Superman _does not have one_ like batman does. He's just a good person trying to do good things, and for the most part that means "don't kill people". This is also why superman doesn't injure people like Batman does - he doesn't believe that's good either, unless you earn that shit (which is why he backhanded batman into a car for putting people in danger to feed his ego). Batman, in contrast, will break everyone bone in your body, but he won't kill people _even when its insane or unethical not to_ because "Batman doesn't kill".
a corpse cant get a fair trial. superman is judge jury and executioner he decides justice and nobody can do anything about it. also batman changes drasticaly from writer to writer just look at adam west batman
Joker got humbled. This made me appreciate Superman. As a kid I thought he "boring" too, but now that I'm older I realize that's the point. That's how he likes things. I like how well written this Superman is, makes want to actually read the comic.
“Yknow Jester… Jokster?” “Mr. Joker.” “Listen, Jankler, I could take you out without even killing or even hurting you. Throw you into the phantom zone, perpetual teleportation, toss you into the source wall, put you in one of my homemade mini-universes where thousands of years pass in a normal minute, or just put you into a hyperrealistic VR simulator for the rest of your life. Like, you know what kind of monstrous gods I come fight on daily basis, right? I even have that thing that creates miracles from thoughts sitting in my garage.”
Kal-El does have a sense of humor, but he doesn't have a code against killing unlike Batman who will beat the crud out of you, but won't kill you. Kal-El will kill you if he thinks it needs to be done. Otherwise he'll stuff you into the Phantom Zone, and then make rude gestures at you.
@@dannylopez5976 I still find it weird and kinda stupid that Bats is willing to come up with entire plans that involve killing his closest friends but STILL won't even _consider_ killing Joker.
@@jahrusalem3658 Because Joker, as Batman, is human. the JL is mostly composed of aliens, gods/divine beings and metahumans. they ARE a threat on a global scale because they can sneeze and destroy a city. Joker is just a man. As Batman is. Batman cannot kill Joker because that would be his own end as human and, as he stated many times, if he kills even one criminal, then he would not be able to stop from using the same solution for other criminals. So...he cannot kill other humans, that would put him at the same level of criminals. And he can't even ask or allow the JL to kill Joker for him, because that would basically entitle them to feel superior to humankind, which won't do either. It would be easy on a practical level? yes, of course. But morally, it would be one hellish decision no matter how you look at it.
@@jahrusalem3658 because killing Joker doesn't require a plan, you just strike a little harder or use a gun, like in one issue where random cop just shot at Joker and almost killed him.
I remember this. Especially the part where Supes says, "You're just another nobody in a costume, killing innocent people to hog an imaginary spotlight." OUCH... That hurts. And they say Superman can't roast anyone?? 😅😅😅😅
