I think we’re lucky that there are so many varied depictions of Lois Lane. I agree; I think Bitsie is the best one. I do like Erica Durance’s performance, but I think the writing was a bit weaker in Smallville. Iirc, I think part of the plot was that Lois was fated to be with Superman. Like she was the one who would support him. And idk, that never sat well with me. It was like “And YOU…get to be the chosen one’s wife!” Whereas in S&L, they are equal in their relationship and the show lacks the “chosen one”/Traveler aspects from Smallville. In S&L, Clark is just a good man who helps people. Lois is a good woman who helps people. Their sense of justice is what drew them to each other. While Erica’s Lois was definitely more spunky, Bitsie’s Lois is more tenacious and serious. We’re seeing the long term stress of being in this relationship, for both of them. Erica felt more cartoony, Bitsie feels more like a real person. But those characterizations match their respective shows. But again, we are lucky that there are so many live action versions. I would love to see Erica and Bitsie sit down and talk about their characters together.
