When Tyler Hoechlin said "STAND DOWN" with red eyes, I instantly knew this actor is going to be one of the best superman

This show is what happens when the writers understand that Superman is the guy in the suit. Clark Kent is the man behind the S. It’s refreshing to actually see Superman embody empathy and understanding and see him be vulnerable, to see his humanity.

This is what happens when the people who actually CARE about the embodiment of Clark and Kal, have the license to write and create his story. In a cynical world, we get this awesome character that just shines through. BRILLIANTLY played by Tyler Hoechlin.

“What happens if you give Spiderman’s problems to Superman?” Pure fucking gold. That’s what happens.

Man I teared up in that first episode. That opening with Clark narrating the recap to his life before the twins and how creative that nuclear reactor sequence. Man I felt like a kid watching Christopher Reeve's Superman again. It's like seeing a really good friend after a long time. I'm so happy this exists. DC fans deserve this.

Chris Reeves is my Superman. And since then no one has created a Superman I care about, until now. Great writing, brilliant casting, great performances and I’ve been really surprised by this show. They’re nailing it.

Wow, Superman is flying around in a world with more colors than just blue, brown, and black. You can actually even see the sun in the sky. Man I miss this

90's Lois and Clark had an amazing line that really embodies the character. "Superman is what I do. Clark Kent is who I am." That's what I feel this show is doing right. Focusing on the man behind the super.

Imho while I love this dude as Superman my personal favorite is still the version from Superman TAS, Ive literally got 8 people I know who told me they hated Superman or thought he was boring to watch All of Superman TAS & it completely changed their mind on him, that version imho is the quintessential Supes. Happy its comin to HBO Max soon.

I've said it since he first appeared in supergirl season 2. Tyler understands Clark/Superman better than most. Best live action supes we've had in years in terms of adapting the character.

The show is good. The writing is good. Yes, Jordan is annoying. Annoying does not mean bad. His behavior and reactions are normal for someone with all he had growing up and what he currently deals with mentally and emotionally. The behavior of the twins are appropriate.

I always saw Superman like this. I never understood why people only saw the powers. Despite everything he can do, the hardest thing is to live with such restraint all the time. So when he gets to stretch his muscles, he *takes* it.

I always get my dander up when Supes is portrayed as some dour, grumpy-ass man who resents being a hero when that's very much not his character. He's just NICE. There's no ulterior motives, just that he had good parents who gave him a great childhood, in the most wholesome town in America, and he uses those morals to help people. Do that right, and you can still do a lot of interesting stuff with his character.

I totally agree with Corey. I normally don't like Superman but when he's faced with real life stuff and has to become more human, then I'm all for it.

While I wasn't a fan of this cat's body type, how small he is compared to past Supermen and Henry Cavill, but he actually captures the spirit of Clark and Superman.

I still can’t believe this is a CW show. The effects for once don’t look like a badly rendered PS2 cutscene. It’s a good show so far, I just hope they don’t try and force more seasons, Cw shows tend to get really bad part way through there third seasons.

This show gets how to be "grounded and realistic " without being dour and bleak.They make Clark flawed without being unlikeable,and balancing heroics with his kids is a new interesting twist vs the usual heroism/ romance conflict. In wouldn't even say the Superhero element is minimized because it's balanced so well that I feel satisfied on every front.

With this, Black Lightning, and Stargirl, CW might actually get superheroes right.

Hoechlin is doing good. He walks that fine line between Clark and Sups. But when Jordan stepped to Clark during that argument in episode 3, I was like boy run you are about to get a super a$$ whooping.

Glad Tyler Hoechlin's getting so much props for his Superman/Clark. 👍 I got into the DC Rebirth Comics where he has a family and that was great from what I read and I like the approach with this show and how unique it is even compared to other iterations. Great stuff so far.

I like how in the middle of talking about Lois Lane it started to feel like they were complaining about their own wives lol

Henry Cavill is a great choice, but the people handling him, don't get Superman. These people get what makes Superman, Superman.

He's already quickly becoming my favorite live-action Superman. He might replace Tom welling soon enough

This show is one of the best CW shows. Love Clark, Lois, their sons and the rest of the cast.

What I love so far about this series is that it takes a lot of the great parts from the Rebirth era which is amazing, some people are complaining about that it’s away from Metropolis and the Daily Planet and all that but that was the purpose of the Rebirth comics it was more focused on Lois and Clark raising their son Jonathan which was the best part about it and made for some great storytelling

I love how in this series, Superman's biggest crisis is just being a Dad.

Fans have been telling whoever would listen that superman can be relatable and interesting for years on end now; it's nice to be vindicated.

They did what Grant Morrison has been saying Superman is supposed to be for years: Superman is like us, facing the same problems but on a super scale. He has to walk his dog, has to pay debts, has to go on dates and now has to raise kids. All of that, but super. This show really does that all very well.

I gotta a agree with what korey says at 13:30 minute mark. For the first time ever this finally feels like superman to me and k now have my definitive superman. A man who is other worldly who everyone sees as a Christ figure, a saviour figure but beneath that he is just as human as all the people who idolise him, he feels more real in this show than any depiction on screen ever. And the actor playing him is spot on, when I saw him in Supergirl I didn't like him but the first few episodes of this show and God damn he became my favourite superman. Finally a superman that feels like Clark Kent from the comics and hands down the best Lois lane too.

I like the fact that the children didn't have powers from the start. It gives the show and characters room to grow.

Henry Cavill is a great choice for Superman, the problem is he's associated with people who don't care about the character. This actor that plays him is associated with those that gets who the character is and what he stands for and most importantly they flesh him out so we can get to know him better. Something that the DCEU couldn't do with Cavill's Superman.

The problem with cw arrowverse shows is that they all start up pretty well, but the longer they go on the cracks start to show and beyond that they just start going downhill.

I just started this show and wow it’s so fucking good I quit the CW such a long time ago. But this doesn’t really feel like a CW show?

I felt like Lois had her husband's back in that first episode. I understand he's Superman, yes, but anyone not at their best should be out trying to save people. Losing a parent shakes a person and they need time, especially if they're saving lives!

Same with me too, I only watched Black Lightning but I'm pretty into this Superman & Lois show. I don't care for CW for years cause their writing after awhile gets ridiculous (look at Riverdale, trash now but had a decent first season) but you are right. They always find a way to bring you back 😆 Lol

This is a great superman version. I didn't like him much on supergirl or the arrowverse shows but it seems like the people behind this show respect the character more.

It's easy when you skip everything. Ma and Pa already dead, already married,already with high school kids,and he is already Superman. Looks like a CW show just better written.

Superman had a really good run having a family in the DC rebirth comics and this show is reminding me of that.

I'm only being honest when I say there is no way in the world you can call him The Best Version Of Superman after some appearances in Supergirl & 3 episodes of his own show. How is that logical? Because he has a wife & 2 teenage sons? So the fact that he is Superman regardless of whether he has wife & kids makes him better how? If he loses Lois & both his sons by the end of the season he is still the same exact Superman from Krypton just more emotional. So 1st it's Christopher Reeve being the best ever but his catalogue is much deeper added to being the 1st Superman in cinema history but now it's the same character with only 3 episodes of his own show because he has a family?

Prior to the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover DC Films President Walter Hamada said "DC had been structured in a way that the television division had to clear the use of characters with the film division. Now, the company could "really lean into this idea of the multiverse and acknowledge the fact there can be a Flash on TV and one in the movies, and you don't have to pick one or the other, and they both exist in this multiverse". Greg Berlanti one of the people in charge of the TV Shows said "moving forward, there's more opportunity to do more things like this". Does this mean we can get a Batman & Wonder Woman TV shows on like TNT, TBS, etc?

To me one of best thing seen in this show from all super man movie is Lois Lane She is one of perfect character in the show with maturity and passion for her job rather than wife or gf of superman

I still like Black Lightning, but Jefferson’s tendency to utterly discount the women’s contributions really irks me. Right now it’s all about what HE has been through as if no one else has been through it. The character is irritating the hell out of be by being both selfish and patriarchal. And, tbh, I’m not sure his daughters don’t have a better track record calling the shots than he does. Not that HE will acknowledge that. Okay... he reminds me too much of my old man. Which isn’t good. But, man, I really do like everyone else. Even the villains. Tobias is more than just a “thug.” He’s a smart, persuasive, charismatic, and ruthless bastard. Even LaLa isn’t just a one-note villain. Just... weird. From their perspective, they’re doing the right thing. They don’t care what society has to say about it. Flawless from a story, narrative point of view? No. Pacing seems clumsy sometimes. Character motivation can be needlessly opaque. Why is (spoiler warning going forward. Turn back now) Jefferson participating in “meta-brawls?” Because he’s “working through some stuff.” Yeah... that still doesn’t really make sense. So... give up beating up bad guys to beat up metas just trying to get by? Sure. Why not? He can make terrible decisions and refuses to answer to anyone about them but sits in judgement of everyone else for their bad decisions like he’s their literal boss. Yes, the show is named after him, but HE DOESN’T KNOW THAT. So, yeah... guess it is a bit silly. But real people can be just as dumb, so...

Mark 32:24. In "Supergirl", uh, the series, not the character herself, Clark & Lois, took up residence in, Argo City, so he would be powerless, and thus be able to impregnate Lois. When last we saw them all, the babies were almost toddlers! There may have been a slight time jump? I don't recall. Now this series debuts, and suddenly the fraternal twin boys are teenagers! As "Arrowverse" followers, we're still trying to work out the time line. So far, the best way to explain is to say, "Crisis, did it!" 🤔

I'm loving this show! I read Supersons during the summer and always enjoyed seeing Superman as a dad. Getting ready for the Superdad jokes to come in at any point, you know he would do something like that.

It crazy how everyone love this show because when the news came out that this show was happening, everyone was like nope.

Best version of Superman is still Tim Daly. Just like how Kevin Conroy is batman and Mark Hamil is Joker. Animated universe will always rival anything live action puts out. A voice you STILL HAVE when you read the source material > the continuous reboots in live action. And this video proves why it would be so much fun to have a black Superman. Down to earth, and knows what's really going on in their head when they save people at the last minuet. Also not afraid to say anything that isn't real. It needs to happen.

For decades, iconic superhero #Superman is depicted as Clark Kent, the mild mannered reporter who is the saviour of humankind. Recently, he was portrayed more as an alien from another planet rather than a person. In this new series, #Superman ‘s alter-ego Clark Kent is depicted as the devoting husband, doting father raising twin teenage boys, and at times a son-in-law who is in conflict with his wife’s father. All these aspects are such a departure from what the character is known to be. From a storytelling standpoint, I felt it was risky. But somehow the show’s creators found a way to make it interesting and worthy of your time following the series. It just keeps getting better from episode to episode. Low budget production but feels like a high budget one. That says a lot!!!

I gave up on the CW since Arrow was done and The Flash become dull after season 4 but I’ll give this a try if it’s living up to the hype.

At one point I was hellbent on trying to get up to date with all the Arrowverse shows. I finally got to the first season of Supergirl, watched through all of it, and that not only put me off Arrowverse but pretty much everything superhero related for literally like 3 years straight, including comics.

I'm sorry, but there's no kid in the whole damn world who finds out their dad is Superman and gets mad about it because he didn't tell them earlier.
