Y'know, it's easy to hate on a ride after watching a POV. But this coaster provides a forceful first drop, awesome low to the ground speed, both floater and ejector air. That second hill after the drop is insane airtime that 95% of coasters wish they had. Yeah, the straight sections and the helices aren't inspired or anything, but if you don't dwell on them, and just enjoy the ride, this thing still kicks ass 18 years later.
U guys were very lucky, this park is local to me as I live in DC, and whenever I go theres always a massive amount of ppl in line waiting for this, my favorite ride in the park
This is probably my favorite non looping coaster. The video doesn't do it justice. The view as you go up is awesome, it's really fast, and those humps at the end are great! And if you go Monday or Tuesday the park is virtually empty and you can ride multiple times without getting off, how cool is that.
100% my feelings this is the most underrated coaster I've ever been on. It really is awesome. Great drops , it's very smooth and fast. Some great airtime hills and it's long enough for your times worth standing in line. I always have so much fun on this and I never want to get off . I just want to stay on and keep riding ! Such an awesome sensation !!!!
@@chickpeagaming100 It probably has to be because of the accident where a legless Veteran fell out of the ride. But then again, it was the parks fault for allowing him on
Dude your view for the Superman is much worse than the one a Darien lake we go over a lake Joseph Barnett. But you are right it doesn’t break down and it is decent too
Went here with my school two days ago and the Superman happened to be my second ever roller coaster. My first one was Roar (which I rode prior to this). I was extremely scared to ride this but once you're going down that first drop, it's amazing. So much adrenaline and dopamine kicked into your system. The second time I rode it (that day), I started to black out around the first helix so beware. But overall, this got me over my fear of coasters. And no, it does not make you feel sick in any way. Can't wait to go back
Same here (on it being my first; not sure my age at the time). I was scared to go on my first coaster, and my friend said I should start with this one because "it's easy and it doesn't have any loops". As we were being hauled up to the top of the first drop, already locked in, he said "actually I was just kidding, this is probably the scariest one in the whole park". Good memories.
So wrong. While it may look boring, the first drop and turn into hill is amazing. I go on about a 100 coasters a year. This one is up there. Front seat is an amazing ride. It's a fun coaster.
Thankyou for the video. My friend hasnt been allowed on roller coasters since her accident, back conditions. Just took her for a virtual ride thanks to your video and she loved it. Thanks again. 😊
This ride is so smooth and is really a good way to end the day. I went on the last ride for the whole day on this one. Honestly, if you want a thrilling and easy going ride this is the one for you.
This is not a mirror image of bizarro/ride of steel in New England, as many people claim. This coaster is missing so many of the hills that make that ride great.
gojewla FYI - What they are saying is that it is a mirror image of the Ride Of Steel coaster at Darien Lake in Upstate New York, not Bizarro/Superman Ride Of Steel at Six Flags New England.
At least this Superman in Maryland is great for leaving one thing that SHOULD be left behind: A rider ejection so horrible it almost DESTROYED my roller coaster interest before it started, so Bizarro SFNE is my first Drachen Fire Award winner.
I loved this ride. The only thing I didn’t like were the carts which were really low (barely even reached the elbows) and the ONLY bar you could REALLY hold on to was in the seat in front of you. It didn’t feel very secure and I was sat with a stranger and by the time we got to the top and went down we had to hold on to each other because we didn’t know where else to hold on from that didn’t require us to bend over and reach for the bar in front. It was quite hilarious lol
I remember almost blacking out by the end of the first turns the first time I rode this, that first drop kicks it up the last little bit after you take ages to get to the top, man a simple but great ride!
so many memories on this ride. When I was younger and I went with my best friend my mom made me promise not to ride the superman while I was there, but of course I did. I told her a few years later that I had ridden it and she actually wasn’t mad at all and said she’s sure I had fun!! Also went there with my youth group and I rode with my youth pastor and it was just really awesome!
This ride is the only reason to go to this six flags anymore. Every other ride sucks and it's the dirtiest park I've ever been too. I miss when this used to be wild world.
Stacy Bilicki hi I’m late but I’m going on this ride tomorrow and I was wondering if you could maybe tell me how it is? I have motion sickness and I was just thinking maybe if I asked it will help some...thanks!!
When I was on this ride a few months ago, I went on this ride right before the park closed, and the funniest thing happened on the re-ride we were able to have. At the turn at the bottom of the first drop, a man reached out and got a hand full of grass! We were all laughing our asses off afterwords.
I've been on this ride a million times . It gets a kick out of me every time . The first drop isn't terrible , but it's enough to make your heart skip a beat .
Aolana Carroll I’m VERY late but I’m going on this ride tomorrow and I was just wondering if you could please tell me how it is? I have motion sickness and anxiety and I was just wondering to maybe help me feel better about it... thanks!
@@britneycat7801 Someone respond to you so late but it’s not that bad but after this ride your fear of roller coasters should go away or at least mines did amazing ride I’m going back this Sunday
I remember the one in NY having a two speed lift hill: As soon as the whole train was on the slope, a higher speed kicked in. And it's weird seeing this coaster go right when I'm expecting left...
steel vengeance? maverick? i305? any bnm coaster? tmnt shellraiser? twisted timbers? theres literally plenty of coasters that have way better drops then this -_-
I had a blast on this ride. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We had to wait in line for almost an hour for them to check and reopen it after a rainstorm. Then we had to go through the long line, but the wait was 100% worth it!
Chris Gardner hi I’m late but I’m going on this ride tomorrow and I was wondering if you could maybe tell me how it is? I have motion sickness and I was just thinking maybe if I asked it will help some...thanks!!
@@britneycat7801 You know how coasters have the initial big dip at the beginning that go almost straight down, followed by some other dips that are pretty simple? Well, as I remember this ride, (It was over 20 years ago that I have rode it.), it has more nearly straight down dips that you'll arrive at at full speed. I wouldn't ride in the back car. I hope you enjoy it if you ride it. Sorry for my late reply. Have fun! Let me know how it was!
@@jakerboss3534 Do you even pay attention to when comments were written? More than 4 years ago. He wrote the comment before Helix at Liseberg was even announced.
5 hills. more airtime moments than that as well, about 8. i can agree it has a lot of wasted potential, but you have to ride it before you judge it. (unless you already have) but it is actually a great ride. out of the 143 coasters i have ridden it is in the top 30 for me
Lemme correct my silly 5 year old comment and say that while it doesn't have the best layout on paper it's still a lot of fun...yeah the helixes aren't the best elements but this ride's excellent airtime compensate for that. It's a top 25 coaster for me out of 337 credits rn. EDIT: Now #19 out of 350 credits.
I rode this one during COVID and there was still a line to go to it believe it or not. It was a blast, never been that scared out of my seat in my life.
That was one of my Favorite Rides! I really didn't expect to enjoy it, or know much about it before I rode it. It was great, the Smooth Fast ride, with the 360° SUPERMAN 🦸♂️ spins and the huge Air on the hills! 😎
I've been on the one at Darien Lake quite a few years back and heard that the only difference between this and the one there is that they are mirrored... Yet, why does this one still carry the "Superman" logo when that one had it removed - Especially when they are both SF parks?
This video looks deceptively gentle. Bet the hills are really intense and that first drop looks like a beast. Easy to think it looks boring from a youtube clip but I think it would be awesome in its own way.
A random Person no it’s not, the one at New England has a spaghetti bowl section full of banked turns and camelbacks, that section makes the ride much better than this
They absolutely could've. Arrow did a better job than this, and they were pretty much the first. Not to mention this park has the thing B&M revamped and gets all the credit for. They made a way better flying coaster, this one in Six Flags America being called Batwing. Way better than those mediocre superman ultimate flights everywhere (and clones of it without being called superman) and just as if not better than Tatsu and Manta.
I just saw a video of my science teacher twerking at a party that all the teachers from my school we're invited to. I watched this to forget about him. Lol
I don’t know why so many people hate on this ride‘s Lay-out. I actually think it’s absolutely genius. After all it is a Superman themed ride and in my view it delivers on the name perfectly. Considering it does exactly what Superman tends to do. Fly around very fast and occasionally shoot up in the sky. Also the gigantic helices, combined with the straight tracks and hills makes it one of the most beautiful layouts ever.
I went to this six flags the last day of the 8th grade trip, and all my friends rode this except for me💀 I rode a bunch of other roller coasters but I just could not handle the drop on the superman and didn't wanna push myself to do it when I knew I didnt want to
All these people complaining here have never been on it before. Those airtime hills are AMAZING both floater and ejector, and the helix's provide good G's. I have to admit it that the long stretch or straight track (@ 2:01 ) is very pointless but the rest of the ride is great, very underrated. This coaster is the definition of don't judge a book by it's cover.
