@@prasektinanda8824 I think more good is actual grammatically correct, considering what he is saying. Probably, it could've been said less awkwardly, but i don't think it's technically incorrect.
@@dannyx498 they are different ages, different eras, different moments in movie making history, the Christopher Reeve , s Superman is the classic one of the 70,s and 80, s comics . Chris Reeve portrayed perfectly the Silver Age Superman in the same way Steve Reeves did for the golden age era of 40 , s and 50, s . And Henry Cavill is the perfect Superman of today. More realistic , no "mock in cheek ". Today an evil Superman would be real evil , something that was imposible in 1983 . But for me without any doubt, Christopher Reeve was the perfect and the best comic Superman .
@@anibaldk Well i don't think Lester intended it to be like that or the Salkinds, they never explained what that scene was suppose to be, it was always just good Clark Kent vs Bad Superman, 2 different people.
@ThereKenObiWan That's a good way of looking at it and well explained, either way, Chris Reeve did an amazing job, he really made us believe it was two different actors, when in reality, it was only him acting both bad Superman and good Clark.
This is more than just the greatest acting performance in any Superman movie. It proves that, while he has powers because he's Kryptonian, he's Superman because the Kents taught him to be. As Dean Cain put it a few years later, Superman is what he can do, while Clark is who he is.
I love this fight, thanks to Ricky believing in Superman and snapping him out of his evil self. In the comic book version I still can't forget the lines "I have met my enemy and he is ME!" and shows Clark punching Evil Superman.
@@MrOmegaSE because Clark doesn't want to kill evil Superman, he'd rather try to contain him somehow, even though he knows tires are almost certainly not going to do that, Clark tries to give evil Superman every chance to reform but Supes doesn't comply.
As cheesy as this is in some places, this is actually a really amazing and compelling sequence! Something I wish they would replicate in a more modern setting
Nice callback to this in the CW crisis on infinite Earth’s. When Brandon Routh’s Superman was brainwashed by Lex Luther to fight Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman and returned to normal, he commented that it wasn’t the first time he had fought himself.
No matter how goofy or outdated some of the effects may seem in these movies, Reeve's charisma, look and performance always brings a tear to my eye. The first Superman movie was my first big obsession as a child.
Next to the Supetman of my childhood, George Reeves, the best Superman ever with a nod to the first on screen Superman, Kirk Alyn, forgotten today. RIP, all of you.
I actually think Superman 3 is very underrated. As a kid there were some parts in this movie that generally scared me. Superman 1 and 2 where always going to be the best but this was a good movie
If they only had taken out the comedy, Richard Pryor casting and focus it on him battling his inner self, Superman would have much better in my eyes 👍🏾
As a child I always considered it normal but now that I know how it worked back then I realize how great it was when he took of at 1:47-1:48, just perfect, flawless. Brandon Routh could almost do this at the same level, admiration. You'll believe a man can fly.
Looking back, this is one of the best Superman movies of all time, but now some scenes are ridiculously hilarious. Especially at 4:30, its like Superdaddy spanking his wimp son.
A 5 star scene in a 2 star movie. Don't know if that has ever happened in another movie. If all of Superman III was about Clark VS Dark Superman, it would've been a classic.
The showdown & knockouts. Insane 👿 superman vs kindly Kent. He couldn't control his worst enemy for own will (a mind fierce battle). Beat down the power of fear😨.
what's really amazing and same time not entirely explain was if this scene was just an illusion and everything happened inside the mind.of Superman or did it actually happen physically.
From what I heard, this fight was entirely in Kal's head. When superpowered Kryptonians struggle with themselves, they LITERALLY struggle with themselves, I've heard. Another actor had to be brought in to give a better visual aid for the fight going on in his mind.
@@Mrd9960 Someone else on YT. They said they didn't understand when they were younger that this was entirely in Kal's mind, that he was hallucinating and Clark was never actually there in front of him.
The whole point of this sequence is that its about someone who's constantly in the spotlight and has a meltdown because of it. Like a lot of celebrities do.
My mother was a quadriplegic, we were in a horrible accident, she was thrown from the car and broke her neck. We saw Christopher do a motivational talk in Hamilton Ontario, he changed her whole outlook on life, meeting him just before he passed, he was a Superman.
When I was a child and watched Superman movies, I used to hope that I would become Superman when I grew up But I've grown up and haven't become Superman yet
Proof that Reeve was amazing: 1- If I didn't know, I would definately think it is two different actors, due to the completely different behaviour, face expressions, etc. 2- That scream superman did, I felt in my soul, so convincing. 3- You can see Reeve kind of risked his life a few times in this video, at least risked hurting himself. That is not only talent and hard work, it is also COMMITMENT. We miss you, Chris, our true Superman.
The color scheme of his 'dark' side suit fits the color of what they did to him in the reboots of the 2000's. Oh how they lost that color and how we lost faith in the joys of our childhood memories of this great 1st movie. I am saddened by what they've done to Superman in the later years of his movies. The only saving grace of the Superman franchise was Smallville and now...Superman & Lois.
I still believe this was just in Clark's mind. I don't think there was an actual fight; it was just Clark's good nature fighting his evil nature. And in the end, the good won. It reminded me of the Star Trek episode where the transporter split Kirk into his kind and aggressive halves. Neither could exist without the other...same with Clark.
@@TheGava4 you!😆 Ok troll, if I must explain myself, the workers never witnessed the split between Clark and evil Superman, they ran out of fear. Now which bridge do you live under? (Look it up) 🤣
When it came to Superman 3, the only positive aspects of the film were the special-effects and Christopher Reeve's performance as the Man of Steel (both the 'good' Superman & the 'corrupted' Superman). Even this junkyard scene was a 'stand-out' to the film as well. However, I did find the concept of a synthetic kryptonite laced with tar, to be a bit confusing. One thing that I can say though: if the issues between Richard Donner (RIP) and the Salkinds didn't occur, then Richard Donner would have remained as director for the 'entire' Superman franchise in the 80s, which I believed had potential to be a saga. Not to mention that if it came to including Bizarro in the franchise, then I would have suggested that Sylvester Stallone be cast for the role; giving a Frankenstein's Monster-like performance. Donald Pleasence (RIP) for the role of Brainiac. And either Steve Martin or Robin Williams (RIP :( ) for the role of Mister Mxyzptlk.
The hard part with Stallone is he is a midget compared to Reeve. Stallone is 5'10 and Reeve is/was 6'4. Reeve being 6'4 is part of the reason why he got the role, and it would make the fight scenes (with 80's tech) really hard to achieve if they are trying to stay true to the source. Yes, i know Keaton in Batman was also short, but the dude was not fighting giants.
@@Saintbow Well, maybe you've forgotten that Hugh Jackman was a bit taller than how Logan/Wolverine looked in the comics, yet he still gave a performance of a lifetime as well as having the character become one of the greatest superheroes to ever appear on the big screen in cinema history. But still, I believe that Sylvester Stallone would have given a great performance as Bizarro with Frankenstein's Monster-like mannerisms. I think that it would have earned him either a Saturn Award nomination or a win. Besides, you know that Stallone is an action-icon? Not to mention that while the 'look' mostly matters, it's the PERFORMANCE that counts most of all.
@@prithviramachandran909 Maybe in another time-&-place, Martin Short would have been a good casting choice to portray Mr. Mxyzptlk. But when it comes to Peter Dinklage portraying the mischievous-imp from the fifth dimension for the DCEU, I just don't see that as I only see Peter Dinklage as a 'serious' actor instead of a comedian.
