How did he break the character? As Jensen said, Dean would never leave the food and considering he plays Dean for 13 years, I think he knows him more than anyone of us
I think my favorite part is the fact that Sam is just completely disgusted and distressed by the situation while Dean is just super chill, hanging by the fire, eating a lizard. I think it's because of the year Dean spent in Purgatory, which is similar to the bad place, so everything probably seemed really familiar to him.
"What are you saying?" "I'm saying.....eat up." I love this delivery, the subtle way Dean says they're basically stuck in the other world while supporting Sam to accept it.

@@moegamadebraheemfredericks6557 Besides the fact that he had killed Leviathan leader(Dick Roman) which resulted in him being send back to Purgatory. And god knows how many other monsters on top of that. I mean he was one of the most efficient hunters, who killed at least 1 member of nearly all monster-types. From Vampires and Werewolves, through Djinn and Wraiths to freakin' Eve herself(he was the one who had drunk Phoenix ashes and then allow himself to be bitten by her. He was the only reason Eve was no longer topside. He was like a trophy at that point. Very few, if any, humans ever caused troubles so big for monsters.

I love this scene. It sure shows the boys at their best. If anyone was going to survive apocalypse land, it was the Winchester brothers. And then Claire, rescues them. The 15 years I watched this show, I would do again in a heartbeat. I miss J2MA so much.

I think this is a result of not only Dean's year in Purgatory, but also of John's Marine training. Sam and Dean were both taught to be survivalists. Sam here doesn't seem as much so because he was hoping they'd find the way out before getting to the point of eating lizards, but Dean had to make use of those skills for a year straight in Purgatory a while back, so they come more easily to him. If it really came down to it, both would do just fine.
Dean always cleans his plate. Have you ever seen him leave half a cheese burger, even when he is having two of them? Sam eats healthy food and doesn't usually finish it, he will push it aside to look at lore. Except when Dean fixed him a burger, at the bunker. Then he took it to Baby, plate and all. On Walker, Jared has sat down for meals, but never even takes a bite. And it looks like good food. Maybe he is anorexic .
I think it's more the fact eating in scenes is a gutsy move as you have to eat the same thing for so many takes. It'll get sickening. So if the character just pushes food to the side instead, he isn't gonna get sick of the food and wanna throw up.
Yeah, remember those gross fake burgers leviathans made to drug people? Bobby and Sam took it away from Dean, so it was only half eaten. Probably the only time he left food and only cause he was stoned and also forced to not eat it.
I love this show but since i finished it and i was very sad because the ending but hey they couldn't keep doing it so they just ended it so i might re watch it soon
When I saw this episode I thought to myself Sam and his brother got the worst taste in food in the world I was amazed that Sam's brother actually ate some lizard that was disgusting
