It's not really if you think from their shoes. Sam and Dean lost their mom when they were little, lost their childhood, Sam lost his girlfriend and a chance at normal life, lost their dad, lost Jo and Ellen, saved the world from Lucifer, lost Bobby, saved the world from Eve, saved the world from Leviathans and many more. They save the world everytime, why not for once they don't want to die and thrive for a normal life? Why is it bad to want to live for themselves? Why is it bad to convince your little brother to not die? I mean I get why Dean did it, yes it was selfish but I would do that for my brother. It's not just their job to sacrifice their happiness every time something bad happens.

@MaheshSharma-fo9lj tbh, that makes it even _More_ tragic on Sam's end, because prior to the s8 finale, Sam hasn't really been co-dependent at all, only _Dean_ Sam left for 4yrs prior to the start of tbe show & plans to _go back_ to school for most of s1. Then they find their mom's killer, get in a crash, John dies, & Sam decides to stick around to finish the job (yellow eyes) THEN Dean sells his soul & Sam has to stick around to try & save him. Sam spends s4 trying to _detach_ himself from Dean & go his own way (with Ruby) S5 has _both_ brothers realize they need space, but the writers force them back together. Either way, the season is about Dean letting Sam go, even if it means losing him forever Even in s8, Sam is attracted to a normal life & only closes that door because _Dean forces_ him to Besides, so far, they've only tried dying 3 times S3 (Dean selling his soul for Sam) S5 (Dean giving up/willing to be a vessel & let the apocalypse happen. Sam willing to go to hell to defeat Lucifer) S8 (Sam willing to die once he learned the trails would kill him) [And btw, they've only saved the world _twice_ so far. In s5, when Sam jumped into the pit & dragged Michael with him. And s7 when they (with the help of Kevin & Cas) defeated the Leviathans.] I'd be very happy if Sam decided to try & live/be happy. Whether he wanted to go back to school, or find a partner, or just leave the hunter life. But that's not what happens in 8x23-9x01. He just follows Dean's lead. He gives up the trials, not because he _wants_ to, but because Dean _begs_ him to. He doesn't go with Death not because he's not ready to rest, but once again, because "Dean" _begs_ him to Being SO malleable/weak to your big brother's decisions is sad when you're a 29 yr old man. I _WISH_ Sam would live for _himself_ Besides, it'd kinda be like making up for their own mistakes, right? For letting the gate to Hell open in s2. For letting Lucifer out (and all the baddies) he brought up with him Closing up Hell forever is the least they could do, tbh. And they _wanted_ to do it. No one forced them. They learned about the trails & immediately went to go find themselves a hellhound.

@@audreyii6750 you got few things wrong here bud. First of all they didn't opened the gates of hell, it was the army guy who opened it, they were there to stop it. Not their mistake. Sam already made up for Lucifer (which was angel's fault not Sam's, Sam committed a big mistake but angels could have told him the situation but they wanted Lucifer out) , so not exactly Sam's fault. And saving the world twice is a very big deal, you make it sound like "just two times so not a big deal", they did what any other hunter couldn't. They jump at problems more often than other hunters even without them being chosen. No, Sam wanted to die because he thought there was nothing to fight for, live for which was a wrong mentality. If you are gonna kill yourself because of a made up lie then what's the point? Sam wasn't at peace, even though he said it but the only reason he wanted to die was because he thought he does more bad than good. I don't blame Dean for giving him up the trials, for wanting to live, for giving him hope that he still matters. And Sam wanted to live at the start of the trial, he said to Dean that he wants to close the gates and survive. Which means a big part of him wanted to live. And for the "Sam doesn't live for himself" Dean never lived for himself remember. He sacrificed everything for his family, I think atleast he deserves the other person to not abandon him, not like this.

@@audreyii6750 That whole Sam's suddenly going normal life was bull crap because earlier in S4, wishful thinking, Dean asked Sam to make a wish to go back to his old life, Sam said that it's too late for now, hunting is his life. He has repeatedly made statements in earlier seasons about accepting this life. Sam also tried to made a deal after Dean's death, it's just that no demon would take the deal So it's not just Dean.

@MaheshSharma-fo9lj I never said they opened the gates of hell. I said they _let_ the gates be opened 2x22 Bobby: Something big is going down, end of the world big. Dean: Well then let it end! Dean _knew_ something Big/Bad was going to happen, but he chose to sit with Sam' s corpse instead of helping Bobby. Given that they arrived RIGHT on time to see Jake open the gates, it's very likely they would have arrived on time to stop him if Dean had gone with Bobby & Ellen from the beginning, instead of sitting around with a corpse. _Especially_ because it's implied Bobby has _already_ given Dean some alone time to grieve before his first 2x22 appearance. Well, only upper management (like Zachariah & Michael) wanted Lucifer out. Regular angels like Castiel were fighting & dying to prevent seals from breaking. That's why Uriel attacks members of his own garisson, he wanted Lucifer to rise & unaware that was the mission all along. But regardless, Sam _still_ pulled the trigger (so to speak) & thousands (if not millions) died because of his actions To be fair, this is the "Sam & Dean are the two _specialest_ boys in the whole-wide-world" show. It's not fair to bring up what other hunters do (or don't do) when the show doesn't remember anyone exists unless they are interacting with Sam or Dean. But on THAT note, Sam & Dean "jump" on problems _they_ create. S4? Dean broke the first seal S5? Sam let Lucifer out S10? Dean did that to himself S11? Sam locked R****a up & FORCED her to do that spell Etc, etc The only seasons where they tackle a big issue they ( _technically_ ) didn't create are s7 & s8 But anyways, I was only responding to your claim that the Winchesters have "saved the world every time" which is not true by a long-shot. Out of 15 seasons, they've saved the world twice. Sam did not want to die. He specifically took the trials because _Dean_ didn't care if he died (called himself a grunt) and Sam felt he had the willpower to see the trials through & survive. Sam was _willing_ to die once Dean told him the trials would kill him, but prior to that, Sam did not express wanting to die OR not caring if he died (not caring & being willing are two different things) "...kill yourself for a made up lie" What is the made up lie here? I don't think Dean gave Sam hope for anything. I think he begged & cried for Sam not to leave him & Sam was a push-over & let himself be convinced. I _KNOW_ Dean doesn't live for himself. But that's no reason for him to make _his_ issues everyone else's problem (Sam, Cas, his mom) Dean never lets go, & that's a problem. S4 (and s5) are outliers. Sam is _so angry_ in s4 (and soooo _guilty_ in s5) Sam is hellbent on revenge & destroying Lilith & doing things _his_ way in s4. Of course he doesn't want a normal life, he has Ruby & magical powers s5 he doesn't feel he _deserves_ a normal life, or anything good, not after what he's done s6 he has no soul for half the season s7 he's losing his mind half the season s8 (first time he's relatively okay) he jumps right back into that normal life s3 is Also an outlier. Dean is being tortured for Sam. Sam isn't trying to make a deal because Dean is dead. Sam is trying to make a deal because Dean went to hell _for him_ Every other time Sam goes after Dean, Dean is sowing destruction/murdering people & needs to be stopped

He definitely is not just a regular demon. He can kill other demons with ease. Even one with red eyes like his. He has survived a stab by Meg from the angle blade, however meg died from that same blade stab. He even stopped Bobby's soul from going to heaven. He most likely is not stronger than Prince of Hell ( yelllow eyes ), Lilith, maybe not even stronger than knights of hell, but definitely stronger than other regular demons.

@@Azraeel11 he can kill other demons with an angel blade. Meh has done the same thing (as did Ruby) Meg was stabbed in the torso (and had already been tortured for months) Meanwhile he was stabbed in the arm. Demons have to be stabbed in fatal places (chest/gut/throat) to die from a demon or angel blade We know for a fact he's not stronger than a knight of hell or prince of hell thanks to future episodes & we've also seen him not be stronger than other regular demons. They simply defer to his authority, not his strength

@@audreyii6750 You do realize that he is more powerful than Meg or Ruby. He being red eyed demon alone makes him powerful than black eyed demons because black are the lowest. Not to mention no, he is king because he is powerful and smart, no one respects just authority in hell unless you are strong, they are scared of him because of his power. Even Rowena's hex bags (which kills regular demons) couldn't do a thing to Crowley. Crowley might not be stronger than knights or princes but his intelligence is enough to beat them all

don't talk nonsense. Until the last second of the show, Sam was always the center of Dean's universe. and the trials are completely for Sam, they "purified" him
