Vice takes an unprecedented look into the shadowy industry of Private Military Companies. For the past two decades these private companies, like Black Water, Aegis and G4S have silently consumed military operations around the world, doing everything from back end logistics, protection of government VIP's and diplomats to actual combat duties. In this documentary we explore the origins of this industry, their rise in the war on terror and their future operations around the world.

Splinter Well what about Kevin Spacey ? The difference is that a lot of acteurs are 3D themselves for the purpuse of the cinematographic industry, especially in the animation sector. It could have been De Niro but his image rights are a lot more expensive. Anyway, he wouldn't be more relevant for this if it was the case.

The east India company never had a powerful army or navy they utilised the government e.g. Royal Navy and British Army. To be the major offensive force. So it's the opposite and the way Amazon runs it's self, in which it constantly asks for hand outs, I can imagine they'd also force the US government to give them most of their security.
@raginasiangaming910
@raginasiangaming910 2 года назад
I've worked for PMC's all over the world for almost a decade. The advantage to the US government is that they never have to report on PMC deaths. It almost never makes the news. It also gives the US plausible deniability and the ability to distance itself. Invariably, militaries in a protracted conflict break the rules. You can't live in a war for years and not. When a Soldier or Marine does something like desecrate a corpse or shoot civilians, the nation as a whole gets a big black eye. When it's a PMC, the government can basically hang that one contractor or that one company out to dry. The reality is, that company reforms under a new name and business goes on as normal. It also depends heavily on the company. Overall, I found that most companies contracting to the US government are fairly above board and at least have standards and codes of conduct. In Africa and South America, I found it to be a bit more of a free for all, though once again very dependent on the organization. I tell my buddies that are considering the PMC world after the military to be very careful and stick with US government contracting. It's a lot more above board and more like the name "High Risk Security". Outside of the US Government Contracts, you find jobs that start to flirt a lot more with being straight mercenary work.

@@Arcaryon Yeah most certainly. It was a smart move on their part also to include the ad because they most likely knew their target demographic. Well yeah no shit. Because America cares way too much about quantity. It's really not that hard to join the military and start getting a paycheck. God knows how many useless marine/army companies there are out there that the US has no intention of ever putting on the field except in desperation. Service members are a dime a dozen, real soldiers are a commodity. But the US doesn't care. They just recruit in mass numbers which takes away so much money from their budget they don't pay the soldiers who deserve good pay nearly as much as they should.

It's not bending the rules, it's survival. Obviously going on full scale offensive operations is a no-go, but eliminating a threat, that is actively engaged with you in combat, is defensive. For example, if the guy that just shot an rpg at our convoy ducks out of sight, that does not mean he is no longer a threat. We assume that he is either preparing another warhead, or grabbing another weapon, which opens up to the possibility of having to engage in offensive techniques to eliminate the threat. This is especially applicable to having vehicles stuck in a kill zone. Rather than just sit there and die, we actively seek out the combatants, and eliminate the threat. It's this way of thinking, and operating, that ensures we all make it back alive.

What do you mean Templar Knights=mercenaries they were not thugs for hire. Money to them was worthless they only answered to God or occasionally to the pope but they had their leaders (grandmasters).

Rudy Wade Correction, Carthage used mercenaries exclusively. The only Carthaginians who were in the military were the commanders, the sacred band of Carthage, and the navy. Everything else was mercenaries.

That wouldn't be fun. The storyline would be: The game would be for 5 minutes because the Contractor only hired when they are in the safezone. They ever experienced the unknown territory like our servicemen do. It's like the US enter the war when German already losing and claim the victory.

tnt ntn If you have nothing creative to say then you should probably just not say anything at all. PMCs would do a better job at fighting terror then the government would if the government would let them. They get way better training the government soldiers do
