Hi Marcus. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Michael is an artist and he does amazing work. Your Morley Bell sounds fantastic. They are collector items now. I would restore it back to its former glory. Cheers, Aaron.
Absolutely fantastic. Having worked and been around the full size version, I am blown away by the scale detail that has gone into these models. Great work Mike.
G'day mate and thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed our Bell 47G video. Mick does some fantastic work in his backyard shed. He does some really amazing motorcycle modifications too. Cheers, Aaron.
RCHeliJet Hello Tom it's great to hear from you. Thank you so very much. It really means a lot to be noticed and provided with positive feedback from you guys. Michael and I love your channel. Happy new year mate. Cheers, Aaron
Hello and thank you for watching and commenting. Gladed you like our scratch built Bell 47G helicopters. My friend Michael does an amazing job. Great to see you Bell 47G's too. I have always wanted a Hirobo Bell. Cheers, Aaron.
Hi Andy, we usually blow or vacuum form our own acrylic windows etc... However, these were just to big for us to do. So we located a skylight manufacturer in Melbourne and he blew them for us. They cost approx $50 each, but he did such an excellent job so we didn't harp on the price ;-)
Thank you Marcus. Michael has since sold his large Bell (Ansett ship), but I've still got mine (TAA ship). I only fly it on rare occasions. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Aaron
My grandfather flew a Bell model 47 for the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, District of Columbia. Died in a helicopter crash in 79. I really want to make a small-scale replica of the chopper he flew. Any advice or starting points you could hook me up with? I'm brand new to custom RC vehicles, and I want to start just by making the chassis of the chopper first, then add the mechanical bits when I know exactly what I need to do and know. These are awesome models. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing these!
Hello and thanks for watching. Very sorry to hear about the death of your father. Thank you for sharing his story those years were great times. The best way to go about it is to buy a plastic model of a Bell47 and the scale it up from there. You can also get the plans and enlarge them to the size you want. Using the plans you can cut all your tubing to size, notch them and silversolder. This would be a good starting point. If you email me I will send you the photos I have. My email address is on the “About” section of my channel 😀
These are amazing!!! I have a few helicopters myself, and what is sad, is I have never flown any of them, as I am terrified to, lol... they are just kits, and I really enjoyed assembling them, but, I have not skill set on flying anything! I received a dinky quad-choptor, that literally can fit in the palm of a childs hand, and I can't even fought dinky thing, lol... some day, I suppose, but these bubble canopy types I have always liked because you can see all the internals, and shafts and transmission stuff ... I am having a blast watching your channel, all sorts of neat stuff!!! Dru
Dru Bradley Hi Dru. Thank you so much for your kind and positive comments mate. Glad you’re enjoying my content. I’ve got heaps of stuff up on this channel such as tractors, old machinery, robots, CAD, CAM, CNC and helicopters. I think having such a diverse range of content has stifled my channel growth. Unfortunately I think most people just want a channel that focused on one thing or a specific topic range. Really happy that you appreciate it Dru. Thanks mate 🍻
Dru Bradley oops I forgot to say. I love these frigging things (RC Helis). I been flying since the late 90’s. I’m an old school flier as I’m 51 yrs old. My chopper is the Red TAA Bell 47G.
walter riely Hi Walter. The blades are 900mm semi-symmetrical carbon fibre. The mechanical parts are predominately Trex-700 with some adaption of Robbe-Schluter here and there. My chopper is the TAA one and Mick's is the Ansett. I believe it is up for sale to make way for another chopper project. Cheers, Aaron
So cool!!! Sneak in more build pics. :) I loved the approach for the landing.....since I typically watch all the vids in 1.5 playback speed....the first time watching it, I was like.....HOLY S**T!!!! It was still pretty dang fast on normal speed!! lol :) Thanks! You picked helicopters cause they're waaaay easier to fly than the planes........right??!! ;) (wink, wink)
Hey Mike, thanks for watching. This was the first time that I included build pics with the video. I need to do more of this. My friend Michael built both choppers by hand and manual machining. He does a bloody good job for a bloke with one eye and pair of digital verniers with no battery in them. I did some CNC machining and made some aluminium cooling fans on the HAAS using 3D HSM machining. But silly me forgot to record any video of it (Doh!). Cheers mate, Aaron.
nice video. I have always like these kind of helicopters since they were used on the hit tv show "M.A.S.H." her in the US. perhaps you can build one to look like that helicopter with the cots that hung on the outside of the helicopter to transport the wounded back to the field hospital
Aaron thank you. Yes the Bell 47 is certainly an iconic helicopter. I too would watch the TV show mash as a child and also watch them fly in my hometown in Australia doing joy flights or crop dusting 👍
peter, you the man! beautiful models, im a fan of the bell47,wish I could fly the real thing. these awsome models I like to watch in action over and over again. How much would you sell one For a person in new Zealand?
Hello and thanks for watching. My friend, Michael, built both these models. He has since sold his chopper (Ansett ship), but I still have my model (TAA). I won't be selling my model and would like to keep it. Sorry about that. Regards, Aaron.
Hi Steven, thanks for watching and providing feedback mate. The second bird is my Bell 47G. I'm not sure where the muffler came from, but I think my friend Michael got it from China via eBay back in the day. We used these mufflers to get rid of the Zenoah pong boxes, as they are really loud and annoying. Cheers, Aaron.
Thanks Aaron. Was just curious about the muffler. Looked like a really clean install and I agree about the Zenoah mufflers. They're pretty much useless, about one step better than an open exhaust! ;-)
Hey bud, thanks for watching and taking the time to reply. Yes you are correct. However, we had to do this as our main rotor turns clockwise and not anti-clockwise like a real one. Cheers, Aaron.
Yes mate I still have my chopper. What I meant by my comment, is that the the main rotor rotation isn't scale so I wasn't worried about the tail For me to change the tail I would have to change the rotation in the gearbox, but this wasn't possible with the gearbox we used. Cheers, Aaron
Mit R Hello. Thanks for enquiring. We built 2 model Bell 47g’s. Model 1 (Ansett) and model 2 (TAA). The Ansett model was sold about 1 year ago and I still have TAA model 2. To answer your question, everything is for sale for the right price 😉
Thank you so much. This helicopter was scratch built by my friend Michael. I think all up it owes me approx $2500. Many parts were custom built. Cheers, Aaron.
