Great video. Quick point about the coil bulbs for UVB- check the Zilla bulbs. Efficacy of bulb far exceeds other company bulbs and can be used for any animal.

Thank you for the Calcium info for dragons. Since I’ve got mine I have ALWAYS heard you absolutely need d3, I just recently started seeing people say that they can get an overload on it. Thank you!

Thanks for making this video I just adopted 2 baby leopard geckos and I was confused about the calcium with or without d3 . Also is it best to leave it out for your geckos in a little dish or just coat there food with it when you feed them

This was really helpful, but now im kinda confused between what to do. Another reptile channel on yt said make sure to give ur leo calcium without d3, but yours does make more sense since they cant rlly get d3 anywhere else.

I have a juvenile beardie, should I do something similar to your system or should I wait until he gets a little bigger?

For bearded dragon: 1) instead of getting a long dessert light, could I get a higher wattage on the bulb? 2)also for a baby dragon should you still only put calcium without D3 only twice a week? 3) for the supplements I know you don’t do them all at once but could you do them back to back when it comes to days like to one Monday one Tuesday and one Wednesday? 4) how much of the supplements when you give it to them should you put on their food?

Ok stupid question. It's getting to be warmer here and I take my turtles outside every day so they get their uvb along with their bulb. If I do the same with my beardie do I still need to give him vitamins?

If I have one of those starter spiral uvb bulbs, how much calcium and d3 should I be giving? Im getting a leo soon and i have been so confused with the supplements and calcium and im worried i will mess up, but what im getting from different videos is that you should keep pure calcium in the enclosure but when u feed it with insects dust it with calcium d3, and then dust with vitamins every few weeks? How much Calcium+D3/week for leopard geckos?

Can someone help me with this question and get me straight on the path, so my chameleon can be super healthy and looking/feeling great. Long story short, I bought a foster female 2 and half month old veiled chameleon (her name is sassy) and her tongue doesn't shoot out at all, so she hunts and bites and eats plenty of insects I provide for her(no starvation nor dehydration). Anyways, so being a 2 and half month female, I have a Repticalcium from petco, and they said 1 day coat with that and other day multi vitamin. Thanks in advance.

I use repashy calcium plus for my vitamin and calcium it’s a two in one deal . I’ve been using it every time and they have no issues . Jw if it’s good for frogs bc I’ve only given it to my geckos

Lack of sunlight is not the reason captive animals need calcium supplementation! They need calcium because most feeder insects are deficient in calcium/high in phosphorus. Calcium is added to the diet to create a healthy balance of calcium and phosphorus. Just like with a multivitamin, the supplementation fills in nutritional gaps caused by the limited variety of feeders available in captivity.

Great info, but veileds actually thrive on a 10.0 (Zoo Med) linear uvb bulb (as long as the cage is 2’ by 2’ by 4’ tall or larger, otherwise use Arcadia 6% or Zoo Med 5.0), they come from a semi-arid environment and need a stronger uvb. Veiled chameleons need phosphorous-free calcium without D3 every feeding, phosphorous-free calcium with D3 every two weeks, and a multivitamin without D3 every two weeks. Or use phosphorous-free calcium without D3 every feeding and a multivitamin with D3 (like Zoo Med Reptivite with D3) every two weeks. Or use an all-in-one supplement every feeding (like Repashy Calcium Plus LoD or Sticky Tongue Farms Miner-all, gutload feeders the night before with Vit-all if using Miner-all; Miner-all comes in an outdoor and indoor formula)

I have a very good friend with a box turtle. She doesn't do supplements or lighting or diet research also didn't know they shed their scoots after many many years of having the turtle???... 😭 I dont know what to say to help the turtle without making my friend feel bad. Help? Oh yeah also the turtle free roams with no water tank...? I dont have turtles but I watch all your vids so I know that's not correct, I think lol?

If I am using Artificial uvb, indoor enclosure, Do I want either of the calcium or reptivite to have D3? We just got a Veiled Chameleon, I am experienced with reptiles, but new to sensitive ones like chameleons. Thank you for the videos!

So chameleons cab be supplemented with calcium at every feeding thats without D3. They cannot overdose on calcium and can excrete the extra. This unsure enough calcium when they are young. When they are adults the twice a week calcium without d3 should be fine. Plus all of this should have an asterisk next to it. Gutloading their food is the most important supplementation you can do!
