Two years ago my parents gave me a leopard gecko as an impulse Christmas gift (I told them if my apartment allowed pets I'd get a beardie hypothetically) and your videos have helped so much. Now she's a spoiled city girl.

Hi Rebecca, good video!. Nice clear advice. I keep my lights on during the "day" to give my Geckos a day/night cycle. They all have plenty of shady hides to sleep in. Lights go off at 9pm and out they all pop ready for their adventures out of the vivs and terrariums. I always know who is super ready for food as they will be up at pawing the glass BEFORE the lights go off. I have one who has cottoned on to the idea if she gets up before all the others she will get first dibs lol. Hope you are keeping safe and well.

Thank you for this video! Ive been watching your channle for about a year and a half and i have been studying leopard gecko care for about a year. I finally got a little leo of my own a couple weeks ago and even now im still researching just so i make sure im caring for him to the best of my ability! Hes curently in a 30 gallon amd im going to be upgrading him soon to an even bigger terrarium and itll be bioactive. Hey!! I just want to thank you for your info it has helped me sooo much and now my leo (gizmo) is now in a 40 gallon bioactive terrarium because of you. im now using arcadia supplements and a dhp and the t5 uv kit AND the jungle dawn plant led light. I love your vids!! Keep on going!!❤️

I looooove your videos!! I am a rehome of a 3 year old Leo. And I'm a proud reptile parent now. (My first gecko but did lots of research before receiving the rescue leo.) She is super healthy and her name is Sally. I watch your videos allot and it helped me so much with taking care of Sally. She is in a small tank currently in what she came in (I rearranged her currant tank to be more naturalistic with appropriate UVB lamp.) I'm also building her a new enclosure which is going to be much bigger! (Again your videos helped and inspire me on how to take care of Sally. And also how your enclosures look too!!) I came into owning a Leo a few years after “growing my own” so became very familiar with mimicking the outside inside and the advanced technology in that industry would definitely benefit a similar hobby especially with bio active set up.

If you don’t need night heat then using a halogen or heat bulb vs dhp can help stimulate a sunrises and subset by having the heat bulb come on first and then the uv and jungle dawn. I am doing this in my crestie and corn snake enclosure and it’s working real well. I turn the uv and jd off half an hour or so before the heat.

Ayyyyy tell Diego I said "sup my boy!?" Just got mine yesterday and I'm on the search for the supplements and pepper lighting. I'm so worried that it's not hydrating itself enough since I've yet to see it drink. These vids r so informative. I’ve recently placed some rocks on the cool side of Keith’s vivarium and it’s made the temp drop by 4-5 degrees down to 19, is this ok? I should I remove them and replace with slate? If anyone can help this would be appreciated, thank you

Hey Leopard Gecko! I've been watching your channel on and off for years. I got my first leo, Phoenix, back in 2015. She's been doing pretty well aside from some housing issues from her source(as I was not aware of the disturbing liabilities of Petco). Regardless, I did most of my research through you. Through the years, my care has changed, but I've been a long time lurker in my times of change. Very recently, I was very interested in getting a second Leo. Their name is currently undecided(so if anyone has suggestions, I'm very open to them) and they appear to be a gorgeous little Raptor Albino. I'd just like to leave a quick thanks for getting me into the reptile hobby, and I plan on breeding in the next few years when my Raptor is up to size.

You absolutely should not be breeding geckos you don’t know the exact genetics of, and especially not a petco gecko. Otherwise the babies could end up deformed. There are lots of other reasons not to breed as well.

im rn watching this vid praying my baby gecko didn’t escape its tank, ik for a fact it cant get out but when i checked its cage....i couldn’t find it, so im praying that its jus hiding in there, ive checked my room 3 times but ziggy is no where 🥲 imma check again later...i hope he didn’t escape 😭 UPDATE: I FOUND THAT LIL SUCKERS, he was in my closet under my jacket 😭😭 from now on im keeping his lid on, almost gave me a heart attack 🦉

Yes, you still need a heat lamp (ideally a halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer or dimming thermostat). LED is for visible light and live plants.

It depends on a few factors (such as the distance of the basking spot from the bulb), but yes, 10% is usually too strong. For more information google ‘uvb lighting guide leopard gecko Reddit’ and check out the first thing that comes up.

Perfect timing :) So it always helps to add in a bit of calcium here and there. With a baby where you're feeding daily, I would stick to arcadia's supplementing schedule on their site. If I use calcium on one feed I wont use the vitamin powder :)

Do you have a video about the best substrates to use or which ones you recommend? And what are the best or some good decor/houses when you're a college kid on a budget. I have a 3 year old leopard gecko and I want to change her bedding to something more similar to desert but also something safe for her. I've tried to do research on substrate, but some sites say any is good as long as they are healthy, have a good diet, and have a heating mat. But then others say sand is never good because of impaction. So I am just curious what you or any recommends for an adult leo. I do have a heating mat and a uvb/uva light for her. I also want to add that I check the area where the mat is often to make sure it's still warm, but not hot to where I think she might burn.

I've finally adopted a leo after 20 years of wanting one! But I have a very important question for you! I have an undertank heating pad on one side (4W Exo Terra) for my 10 gallon tank and LED lights on top (so basically no heating from the light, just the heating pad). I have bought the "wrong" substrate, it's basically like green moss meant to be soaked in water for tropical animals, but I only sprayed it under the hiding spots a bit and spread the rest throughout the tank as it is. SO MY QUESTION IS: am I going to kill it or am I doing it okay!? D: I'm very scared it's gonna be unhealthy or even die! ..... this single tiny lizard cost me a lot and I love it and I want it to be healthy :C Thank you!

Hey, my female leopard gecko is fairly old and finished laying her eggs about a month ago and she has an extremely thin tail and body. I managed to get her to eat 5 crickets in the past few days, but she refused to eat today and she randomly opens and closes her mouth as if maybe in discomfort. What can I do to help her? I live in East London which is a very small city in South Africa and we have no herpvets around. Please help 😭

Maybe this is a stupid question, but could you supplement the vitamins just by gut loading the feeder insects? For example, could the gecko get enough vitamin A if you feed the mealworms lots of carrots?

I strongly recommend using both UVB and a halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer or dimming thermostat (better than DHPs). Then your gecko will have IRA, IRB, and UVB. UVB bulbs and halogen bulbs/DHPs have different purposes, and both are very beneficial.

How long do you keep the heat on? Should the Arcadia deep heat projector 50W be kept on at night?

They generally don’t need heat at night, a temperature drop is fine. I personally keep mine on 24/7 but only because my gecko doesn’t use it during the day. A halogen flood bulb connected to a dimmer or dimming thermostat would be ideal, though, they’re actually more natural and beneficial than DHPs. The levels of IRA and IRB they produce more closely mimic the sun (DHPs produce barely any IRA, the most beneficial wavelength).
