Information for those on fence: I run an 11.5 triarc barrel regular gas port with a superlative arms gas block pinned. A radian NP3 suppressed charging handle, and an H3 buffer from Geissele. I have ran the dead air sandman K and an OSS 556 full size. The OSS 556 hands down has less blowback, and I can shoot without eye pro (As a test for duty use).

Running a DDM4 MK 18 SBR 10.3 barrel with a Surefire WarComp break with a Surefire SOCOM 55.6 SB2 suppressor for duty use. Question 1 - is an alignment rod worth using every time I attach the suppressor? Question 2 - I have had no problems with the BCG of the DD and is it worth upgrading to Surefire Optimised BCG?
@TRIARCSystems
@TRIARCSystems 4 года назад
Bangers LEE Answer 1 - just on initial installment is the alignment rod critical. You can check from again when you starting getting to high round counts Answer 2 - I would definitely invest into one. They do make a different in rifles that have not taken consideration suppressor use. Bonus - SOCOM SB2 and SF OBCG is a extremely balance combination. Highly recommend

@5RWill
@5RWill 4 года назад
For me i started in precision rifle with a TBAC 30CB9, added a hybrid, and omega to the lineup. And since being a little more budget oriented i've gone YHM Turbo K and Resonator K. While i can appreciate the durability of Rugged and Deadair i found out quickly that i'm never going to be mag dumping at 800rpm. The idea that i'm ever going to run a can to failure as a civilian is just delusional for me. So weight is my #1 priority at the moment then sound suppression. If i had it do over again. I'd have all TBAC. An Ultra 9, 7, 5, and the newly released Dominus. You'll find the weight of a 14-16oz can gets very old very quickly IMHO.
@Ghost17110
@Ghost17110 4 года назад
My logic: if you just have a 5.56 platform, get a K can. something like the YHM Turbo K works perfect. if you have a 30 cal platform as well, look into S and larger cans and start to figure out where your priorities lie. Weight, mounting method, gas blowback, sound reduction/tone, material, full auto rated, tube size, etc. a Surefire 762 can will be different than a Q Thunder Chicken can which will be different than a Dead Air Sandman Can, etc

@K-bob_45
@K-bob_45 4 года назад
I assembled a 12.5 with the intention of running a RC2 MINI on it. About the same OAL as a 10.5 with a full size RC2. Per Surefire the mini is fine on any barrel length but if you aren’t running duty ammo with flash retardant flash suppression can be lacking below 14.5. Obviously it will be louder but if you prioritize OAL over sound reduction and you are planning on using quality duty grade ammo it may be for you

Does an oss can have significantly lower back pressure vs a DeadAir nomad? I’m deciding between these two for a bren 2
@zoutou123
@zoutou123 3 года назад
To answer your question - Yes - I strongly believe so. I have a Nomad 30 on a Bren 2 and it's really gassy/a lot of blowback (even though it is a lower backpressure baffle can) and I was getting gas back in my eye from where the upper receiver was mating with the back adapter. This is the normal (regular) gas setting. If you want to keep your Bren 2 stock and not deal with drilling a smaller hole on the 'Off' setting then an OSS would be a great option as it would have minimal back pressure. I do know that OSS cans do not perform as well as traditional baffle cans in terms of reducing sound signature. I personally want it to be as quiet as possible so I went with the HB Industries gas port drilling service for $60 a week ago. I'll be testing the new gas port out this weekend and am keeping fingers crossed that it'll fix the high back pressure issue.

There's good info here but I found your speaking too fast and not always clear. I know next to nothing about suppressors and am looking at getting one for my .22. It was difficult to understand a lot of what was said.
