I feel a slight pressure under my chin where my throat and the muscles meet the last few days. I noticed I have been clenching my jaw at night. But these musclEs kind of make me look like I have a small double chin and that has been the case for a while.
Thank you so much. You are the best. I never thought I could find someone like you. God has brought me in your link. May your work continues to touch many. Thank you. I will share and keep on with all your tips. My voice has improved
I was searching for roof of mouth muscle cramps/spasms/pain and this came up. I do get pain occasionally where you are speaking of, but not when speaking or eating just randomly out of the blue.... 🤷♀️ I wonder if this is also related to the roof of my mouth spasms somehow?
Alot of this can be caused by stress and anxiety too, just have to relax and know it's nothing more than muscle tension and not make it worse by over worrying
@@healthyvoicetips Of course I've seen 'em, and I really appreciate every minute you spent on this, but I think that I've a serious issue with this tiny muscle specifically, and u rescued me with this great demonstration! I'm focusing right now more on Breathing&Suppor. Many Thx Katarina!
I am in disbelief. I’ve been struggling with tight muscles under my chin but couldn’t figure out what my problem was. Thank you so much for this, this was such a relief
THANK YOU! I had pain swallowing and yawning under my chin and thought it was something with my throat but this made sense and tried massaging.. releasing tension works !
Same here, all my muscles were sore and hurting around the front of my neck and chin, felt sore to swallow at times. Dr. said nothing is wrong with your throat after all the test, I was just stressed and anxiety caused muscles to tense up. Crazy how all that works and effects other parts. Was pretty sore for a few weeks, but starting to go away now.
I followed this and massaged my chin and jaw yesterday and I'm SO impressed by how much better I feel today! Favoriting this video to revisit when I need some help. Thank you!!
A million thank yous for answering the question of why my voice has always been so tight all my life. The last stretch helped the most. I did months of research but never pinpointed the exact problem. On the flip side I learned a lot about how the voice works. Now that I know the problem, I can move forward in fixing it. You don't know how much my voice has affected my life and my confidence. I literally felt like I didn't have a voice to speak up for myself. Thank you so much again
YO!!! i was just randomly eating when i felt discomfort there and I thought it was my neck because it had been bothering me lately but after doing this there is SUCH a difference!
Beautiful video.. It felt exactly as you said.. The voice resonance increased.. Tension reduced.. We get so used to it that we start living with the tension.. Thank you
Thank you so much, the pain comes out of nowhere and it’s always confusing. At least now I’m aware of what it is and what I can do. Appreciate the help.
OMG thank you very very much.. i thought i cant sing bec. my voice is so breathy and out of tune. then i came to your videos, and watch them all. then i focus in Vowels .Tounge and Jaw tension,, nothing happens. and then i found this video. this is totally life changer, now i can sing better without noticing it.... thank you very much!!!
omgsh! I'm so emotional right now! Although my voice isn't completely back to my normal self, doing this massage once made it a little easier to speak!!! This means so much to me
Thank you ma'am thank you so much. For some time I was really scared of yawning. It just randomly clenched my muscles under my chin and it hurts so bad. But now I'm better than ever. Again thank you ma'am.
Subscribed. I just joined a choir and I suffer from TMJ pain which I’m trying to alleviate with massage. Of course, the TMJ pain is also affecting my suprahyoid muscles but I never thought it from the angle of singing. Anyway, I’ve always been able to hold a note, but the power I got after completing your excercises and some targeted trigger point exercises in my lower neck was magical. Im off to find more of your wonderful hints now 😮
This is really great... i beat myself up by struggling with sensory awareness eg i cannot usually assess a change before and after doing something like this... i should have recorded myself..i was thrilled, as i felt a clear ease at the top of the scale i did, on G4.. where my voice usually feels tight.. and also the under chin muscles.. this is a big win! i shall keep it in my routine. Thank you
Hi Janet, nice to see you here and read your comment! Don't beat yourself up. Be kind to yourself. Singing is a journey and you may experience breakthroughs with the simplest exercises!
I have started each day with breathing in 5 minutes of steam and doing these exercises/massage. The gravel in my voice is less and I was even able to sing in church yesterday! Thank you, I'm looking forward to seeing how my voice is doing in another week. J
These are wonderful, gentle and soothing exercises - which I've never seen before. They are also very effective in subtly releasing the vocal muscles area, and I did find it made a big difference in the clarity, ease, resonance of my voice. Also, it helped me soothe my cold a bit too, so that is a bonus :-) Thanks, Katarina. As always, very effective advice from a professional!
Hi! Thank you for you lovely comment (as usual)! I am glad to hear that the massage had a positive impact on your voice. Then you know that they are worth it.
Thank you! Here's my story. My dentist recommended an oral appliance called Panthera Sleep...it is suppose to aid with apnea. This is an adjustable appliance that helps with the occlusal plane reducing apnea symptoms and help minimize TMJ pain. Interestingly enough, it did the opposite and I stopped wearing it. When I did start using the appliance, I noticed tension in my neck region under the chin, but didn't know how to remedy that. I was struggling with speaking and singing feeling muscle tension in my neck. After watching the video, I immediately felt relief in the muscles under the chin and felt complete ease when speaking and my voice was much clearer. Also having the descriptions of the Suprahyoid Muscles definitely help in making sense of it all. Thank you Katarina!
Omg thank you so much. I do warehouse work part time and I been having pain swallowing and the pain would rush to my eye and really throughout the ride side of my body. After watching this, the tension has drastically decrease as well applying Biofreeze to cool the pain. Thank you
amazingly helpful, this has been my problem forever I've kind of just been living through the pain of my stiff under chin but now I don't have any problems. this was a quick helpful and amazingly simple video to help with a big problem that had me destroying my throat.
I am going to try this massage. This muscles are exacly I feel they tense up just on thinking I have to make a phone call, or speak when I introduce myself in a gathering. Thank you for your videos
THANK YOU! I’ve been dealing with this for over 5 years and I’ve been researching for about a month and started to get angry because I was not finding anything that worked. And I could not ask my friends because none of them go through this. Thank you I litteraly started crying when it worked because I’m so self conscious about it!! Just a quick question is I do this everyday will it go away?
Hi Bee Bee, I am glad you found some relief with the massage. Yes, you can do it daily but I would suggest to find reasons why the muscles gets so tight. Is it overworking the muscles by too much talking, is it overdoing the muscles because of bad posture? There may be many different reasons for your problem.
This is crazy, I hasn’t even watched this video yet but I am very hopeful that this is part of what’s been causing me so much pain for quite a while from the other comments. At the same time I’ve lost hope so much that I’m afraid to watch the video ha
Ma'am my sleeping posture was like a question mark? On my neck postion, wheather that posture cause any muscle tightness under my chin or throat, and I am also experiencing this kind of tension under my throat. Please read this comment.
Thank you SO much for this video. I'm not a singer, but I have been struggling with tightness in these muscles. I can feel a pulling sensation under my chin when swallowing, and I get cramps there when yawning. Luckily, I stumbled across this wonderful video. The massage works! My speaking voice has even improved already. I wonder what causes these muscles to become tight or injured? Shouting? Forward head posture? Poor sleeping position? Dehydration? Stress? Thank you again and again!
All of the above. Any of the causes you mentioned may play a role. Especially head and neck misalignment, stress, teeth clenching or grinding, overworking your voice etc.
Specifically when I yawn, sometimes if I close my mouth too quickly my jaw cramps. It feels horrible but only lasts a few seconds and swallowing helps make it go away faster, plus I learned to know when it feels ok to close my mouth. It’s very manageable but I got scared that it was tetanus until I saw this video lmao. I’m so happy this video exists
@@healthyvoicetips me too. It feels... super sore, but a lot of relief. Should I do these every day, or every other day? Eh, not as advice but as a general recommendation, I guess! Today I spoke without pain for the first time in eh... almost a year, heh. Thanks again! I love your videos!
Hi Fiona! Laryngeal massage or any other type of massage that releases tension from the muscles around your neck is very effective. Try it and let me know what you think.
The muscles under my chinny chin chin always cramp when I open my mouth to eat. They are finally relaxed. I didn't know those muscles below the chin attached to a bone! Added to useful knowledge folder.
@@healthyvoicetips Can it help to remove the low hyoid bone position? I'm searching for ways I can remove it because it looks like a double chin when I don't even have fat over there. I tried lifting my tongue and the hyoid goes away.
Katarina, amazing! I really needed to learn this today and apply it... I'm coming out of a cold and sore throat... and I always massage my neck, but now I know how to since I need to batch more videos this weekend. Thanks
I woke up with this area of soreness under my chin and couldn’t figure out why it was tender and hurt when swallowing. I could tell it wasn’t a sore throat because it was more muscular in nature and tender when pressed in certain spots. This video was very educational and eased my concerns. And the exercises were helpful. Thank you!
Hi, i have a very similar discomfort since 2 weeks ago, pain when swallowing and painful spot when i press under my chain but cant call it a sore throat because its not in my mouth or throat. It feels muscular and much back/deep than throat. I visited GP and he prescribed antibiotics for probable swollen gland but there was not a touchable lymph node, i also visited thyroid specialist and the things was normal!! So i started to search and i will practice this exercise. Just wanted to ask if you feel better ? Any further doctor or diagnosis ? Btw didnt you get Covid recently? Sorry its long, thank you
Same here, my neck muscles were tense and sore, then felt weird and sore when I swallowed, but like you....didn't feel like a normal sore throat, but like a bruise muscle type sore. Had all the test done to be sure, and my Dr was like....dude you're just stressed, nothing is wrong with your throat. Crazy how so much muscle tension can effect other things. How long did yours last? I'm about 10 days in and it's in the sore tender part now after being tense for a week.
Wow absolutely amazing! This made a huge difference. Your third massage was so so SO good. Could feel all the tension ease. Thank you for your video xx
