I don't support this whole ridiculous idea of "immunity". This sort of upsets the "checks and balance" system that this country was supposed to be founded on ...

So now Judge Chutkin now has to decide official and unofficial, the delay continues

So a president can break the law anytime they want, as long as they claim they are acting as president. So really once they become president they can govern the way they want and break laws constantly in ways that benefit their personal interest.

Anything related to the election is not an official act. That's why you're not allowed to campaign from the White House or the Capitol. So appealing the outcome in the courts was not an official act. Any rally was not an official act. Arranging for an alternate slate of electors was not an official act. Pressuring the Georgia governor was not an official act. Calling his supporters to action was not an official act.

Maybe its time for Biden to use this ruling to his advantage ?

So, what I'm hearing in this ruling is that a current POTUS can, as an official act in accordance with the US Constitution, and laws related thereto, and his oath of office, remove threats to the Constitution (Preserve, Protect, Defend), i.e. remove and jail US Supreme Court Justices, any Federal Judges, even former POTUS for acts against the Constitution without prosecution or repercussions of any kind as a power of his office. This is a ruling along party lines. The conservative majority of the Supreme Court has decided in favor of immunity in the context of presidential actions. Other courts should now make distinctions between "what is private" and "what is presidential." Trump will ultimately challenge everything that is interpreted as "private" to his disadvantage, and he will ask his "friends" on the Supreme Court to reverse rulings that have been made. The Supreme Court has degenerated into a purely political instrument. Taken to the extreme, the ruling means that the president could order a murder and at the same time have immunity because he is president. He could not be prosecuted. This is unacceptable, morally reprehensible, and certainly not what the founding fathers of the USA wanted. The Supreme Court has lost its legitimacy. The reputation and integrity of the court have been severely damaged (see Justice Alito, Justice Thomas). The ideological balance of the court has shifted decisively to the right. In addition, several judges (e.g. Justice Thomas) have received extravagant gifts (particularly in the form of vacations and trips). Such behavior no longer guarantees intellectual freedom, the necessary judgment and independence. Instead, a "courtier spirit" will prevail in the future if Trump becomes president again. At least among those who want to pursue a political career. Poor America!
