I go over the basic details of the filter and show what it looks like in lower light conditions and with 1/4 Moon.
This is not a sponsored or paid video. The filter was given to me by a forum member on AR15.com to try out and I ended buying it from them to do the video.

Sooooo you're turning a beautiful L3 filmless white phosphor tube into a Photonis Echo. Got it lol.

I have the Echo, and it definitely looks like the beautiful L3 filmless and NOT that filter.

I wouldn't use one of these for running and gunning because it makes the image much darker, but If you use your pvs14 for stargazing (You can attach it to a telescope), and with a filter like this you get a better-looking image. I think that's the more realistic application for something like this.

It would work well in city environments but I wouldn’t use it in the woods

Thanks for making this video I was about to purchase one looks like you saved me $80. The pictures I've seen online show a dramatic difference must be the static image and they didn't look as dark.

Like other filters, it reduces the brightness and performance of the tube, but it is a better color for white phosphor compared to amber.

Absurd. If you want to reduce thermionic noise, find a way to safely cool the unit.

I like the filter other than that its plastic and not low profile. But nice to have on hand.

It looks like it would help improve using dual thermal and 14

How does it look with a good hi gain gen 3 green tube?

I haven’t had the chance to try it. My GP tubes are in my Anvis 9. The eyepieces are also Anvis so they don’t have threads for the eye cup to screw in the filter. The Anvis glass also darkens the image so it’s not a fair representation. When I swap tubes again I’ll try it. tlandoe07 on ARF took some pics of it on GP. He made a dedicated thread about the SNB: www.ar15.com/forums/Armory/SNB-Signal-to-Noise-Booster-Filters-from-Sureshot-Night-Vision/18-519002/

So I don't have this particular filter but I have a similiar purple one. Darkens the image way too much. But it does seem to cut on noise. My only explanation is its similiar to turning down the gain on the tube, the noise is there but you simply cant see it due to the filter cutting out the light. Not a good option.
